Tacky service and customer un-friendly. What can you say about a restaurant where you cant get a glass of water? (Bottled water only and it will cost you $1.50.) OK, probably forgivable because on-the-deck-seating offers a million dollar view of the Southport marina and inland waterway. But when our pizza order included a $1 topping that was never ordered and they tried to charge us for it, well, as my grandmama used to say, "Its just tacky." Then they wanted to argue about it. They said, "We offered to take the pizza back..." and of course had they taken the pizza back, the person who ordered the pizza would have sat for another 45 minutes waiting for the new pizza while everyone else finished their meal -- which, oh by the way, had taken 45 minutes to bring the first time. Besides the food was only passable. Calzones a bit too oily. Calamari was too heavily breaded and fried too long ... maybe the 45 minutes? The service was fine until the olive-topping incident, except, if you go there with an infant, be careful. Three different times they suggested that we place our infant-in-carrier on a raised bar-style chair. Safety conscious for their customers, I dont think so. But maybe, if you are going for a sandwich, libation, and a great sunset you might want to go there. On second thought, save yourself the hassle and go to the great restaurants on either side - Fishy Fishy or Provision. Post-script: And guess what, even though I withheld the $1.00 on my payment, they charged my credit card anyway. How about that for customer non-service.

This place was seriously disappointing. I see a ton of great reviews and Im envious of those experiences. But mine was terrible and I can only go off of what I know. The food: cheap tasting, way over-priced. It costs $6 or $7 to add five tiny shrimp to a salad, just to give you an idea. I had a sandwich which I couldnt even eat half of because the peppers tasted rotten. The service: What service? The hostess pointed in the general direction of our table and left it up to us to decide where we were supposed to be going. We had to flag down out waitress for drinks because she refused to stop. The big catch for me: When it was time to pay, we were told we couldnt split the check "because there were five of us." (It should be noted that one was a child...) This wouldnt be a huge deal if we were told ahead of time. But we werent. Nobody carries that much cash, it made paying the bill a struggle and this is the most ridiculous policy Ive ever heard. THEN- when the bill finally came, our waitress had gone ahead and added in 20% gratuity. Absolutely ridiculous. Like I said, this was very disappointing and I will not be returning. Also, I checked out their facebook page- whoever runs it gets on peoples reviews there and accuses them of working for their competitors. I have absolutely no affiliation with anything Southport or any sort of restaurant whatsoever, just in case they try throwing that card out there.

Usually, I am very forgiving when mistakes are made at restaurants. There are a lot of factors that can "go wrong" and its really no ones fault. Tonight was different. The waterfront was busy for a Monday night and our wait was about 45 minutes. After the first 30 minutes, a hostess told us that our table was ready but she did not want to seat us so she could "give the staff a little time to catch up and have a break. " (It was 7:00pm!)I have NEVER heard anything like that before. After we waited the additional 15 minutes, we were taken to our table. About 1/2 of the tables were now empty. Five minutes later, a waiter took a drink order. After waiting 10 more minutes, we flagged down a different server and asked about our drinks, which arrived shortly after that. The server took our order. He returned 15 minutes later to ask if we wanted the scallops fir our salads grilled or fried. The Jilis Special salad I ordered cost about $18 because I added grilled chicken to it. No big deal except thd salad wasnt much more than mostly iceberg lettuce, some fresh onion, green bell pepper and roasted red pepper. The "sea scallops" that were added to other salads were $2 a piece, but they were the size of "bay scallops." The "owner" credited our bill for the scallops. We only mentioned thd issue when he was making his rounds and asked. There are lots of GREAT restaurants on Southport. Unfortunately, this is not one of them.

I just ate here with my family and I have to say Im disgusted with the experience. Quality: Sandwiches had little flavor and portions were small. For my first experience eating a shrimp po boy, I have to say Im quite disappointed. Lobster bisque soup was good, not worth the cost however. Atmosphere: There were bugs flying around everywhere, and a couple flew in my drink. Not cool, but at least the drink bugs made for a good appetizer considering we had to wait forever for our food. The music was great at first, but was shut off for some reason and it made things uncomfortable. Service(?): More like lack thereof. We ended up getting our food to-go because of the wait and the owner came out to ask us how it was while we were packing it up. We told him that we hadnt tried it yet, and that we had waited an hour and a half to get it. He responded with, "We make it all fresh". Of course you do buddy. Price: $6.50 for a tiny cup of soup. Are you serious? Ridiculously overpriced, not to mention the forced 20% gratuity tacked on at the end for little to no service at all. The small sandwich portions made me sad. I dont wanna pay 14 dollars for a meal that doesnt satisfy my hunger. Please keep away from this eatery. As we were leaving, my father went to use the bathroom and a gentleman said "you better go first, Im gonna be in there awhile". Im scared because I think Im starting to feel it too. You have been warned.

7 of us went for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Short wait to be seated... waitress was friendly. One person in our group ordered a Stromboli, it was almost completely empty inside. We showed it to the server and he told us that they make their own dough and they fill up with air... and pointed out a piece of pepperoni and a piece of sausage.. NO EXAGGERATION.. and walked away. Someone else came over and looked at it and said that is how an authentic Italian stromboli is made and if we wanted a soggy one to go down the street! After the rest of us were almost finished our meal we were asked if we wanted to change it for something else. We order shrimp alamafi ... then the owner Jill came out with a huge attitude and said "so i heard you dont like our stromboli" then took it back saying if you eat it then you cant change it for something else (we had already been there about an hour) everyone was about done. Seems she then was discussing it with some other patrons next to us. My cousin tried to politely talk to her about the way this was being handled and Jill said "so, do i have to pay you for this therapy session?" it was ridiculous... the rest of the food was fine... we had salad, hamburgers and pizza... not great, but fine... Bill came to over $100 plus they added 20% gratuity . I would never eat there again.. and i would not recommend it to anyone else.
