I went to have dinner six weeks ago to Ajisai, and they charged me double (one charge the night of the dinner and, inexplicably, another charge the day after). When I realized it, I called to explain them the situation and to ask if they could refund me one of the charges. Although I sent them by email my bank statement with the two charges in order to prove them; they didnt care of my money. Even though I called them more tan 10 times during two weeks, the only answer I always had was that it was not their problem and they could not do nothing, so I was literally losing my money ($75). They played with me giving all the posible excuses, such as wrong email addresses, wrong managers phone numbers, that they would talk with their bank, that they would call me the next day, etc. The truth is that they didnt care about the money they had stolen me ($75); and only after 15 days when I told them I was going to go back to the restaurant and fill a formal complaint to the NC authorities, they didnt refund me my money. Moreover, when they finally did it after making me wasting a lot of time during two weeks, they didnt even apologize. I will never go back to this restaurant, and I just want to warn that if someone goes, pay only in cash because otherwise they might steal you money from your card, as it happened to me.

Im never a picky eater, neither is my boyfriend but the sushi and teriyaki were terrible. Soup and salad dressing was good so we had high hopes until they brought out the plates with tiny sized portions. We figured ok, some fancy restaurants might serve tiny portions especially if theyre serving good food. Nope, terrible food. The sushi had no flavor, the teriyaki had vegetables that were thrown together with VERY over cooked shimp. The rice was even undercooked. At one point I had to spit out a burnt piece of eel from one of the rolls. And the tea was even DISGUSTING. It wasnt tea, it tasted like burnt nuts which when we asked the waiter he explained that the loose leaf green tea had nuts that are steamed with it and drained. It didnt taste like tea at all and the mug didnt have a handle to prevent burning hands. I never write bad reviews but I didnt want to complain to the server because it wasnt his fault and really this restaurant needs to re-evaluate their food.

Seeing the good ratings and looking at the menu I really figured I would like this place, but I was seriously disappointed. The decor is gorgeous, the service excellent, and I was impressed by the authentic and rare Japanese ingredients. But the actual sushi was a complete and total letdown! I hate talking badly about a restaurant, but if youre going to make sushi the basics are important. The rice wasnt even sushi rice (no vinegar, seasoning, etc) just plain white rice and undercooked at that! The fish was decent quality but poorly prepared. Even my sister, who is not at all picky and ordered a few simple rolls looked at me and said "this just isnt good". Maybe we got an off day. But I definitely wont be going back . . . heck Harris Teeter has better sushi.

This is a "cozy" (small) place in Cameron Village that offers sushi specials for lunch and other mainstays of typical Asian fusion restaurants. The $8.50 sushi roll lunch special is a great deal that includes miso soup and salad. The ginger dressing on the salad is very tasty, and the sushi is good but not great compared to places like Sushi Nine or Mura, IMO. I could see coming here for dinner being very annoying considering the parking situation at Cameron Village and how small the place is, which probably combines for long waiting times. The service is good, but the servers seem to have a chip on their shoulders (probably goes with the territory, but still...).

We went to Ajisai today in excited expectation of finding a new sushi restaurant close to home. We were disappointed, just didnt find the sushi as appealing as at other locations we frequent. My wife commented that perhaps their "A team" was not on duty for Sunday lunch. The other frustrating aspect was that the service was lacking - a couple of times I had to resort to holding my hand up in the air until I was noticed (once I got so frustrated I banged my hand on the wall). I see the other great reviews and really wish I could give the same, but that just was not our experience; I hope I can change this review at a later time - if we go back.

The best sushi place in Raleigh by far. Nice, quiet and small family owned place. Sushi definitely hits the spot, especially the freshness of ingredients. Soups are quite interesting and delicious. There are nigiri sashimi and sushi that are simple, just what i like, but if you want to go fancy, you wont be disappointed either. Although waiters are not very familiar with methods of preparing and nature of ingredients, so you have to specify if you annoying like myself. Sometimes they have Different oysters from Japan, and interesting things to try. Definitely a place to GO!

The interior screams trendy. Its a good fit for Cameron Village and its got character. The menu majors on sushi rolls with a nod to a few popular Japanese dishes and s small number of Chinese and Thai dishes. Pros: Trendy decor well done Roll we had (Spicy Mama) was pretty good Service was efficient Food is a cut above the most fast food style places Cons: Price More traditional Japanese dishes should be on the menu

Ajisai was our go-to spot in town! Manager and staff were welcoming and friendly. The presentations were creative and beautiful. The fish were always fresh and the food were scrumptious!! Oh, Tomo Roll is our favorite!!! I now live in another state but Ajisai crosses my mind each time I am in the mood for good sushi. Always make sure I visit them when Im in town

Ajisai is a solid sushi spot in the triangle. There is a lot going on with the menu, which might not be for everyone. However, if you stick with the sashimi and simple rolls, you will be satisfied. They have some great quality fish. Also, they smoke their own salmon in house. I dont usually prefer smoked salmon over raw, but the smoked was very good.

Lunch Special: 8.50 for 2 non-special rolls (12 pieces), miso soup, and a green salad. I didnthe even want the salad but it ended up being delicious. Maybe I got lucky with the delivery day but all the greens were really fresh. The miso soup was as good as the salad and the sushi was well-made. You cant beat this price for permormance.

Food was good but service was terrible during Saturday lunch. Didnt get offered drinks, tables were dirty, and waited 15 min to get the check after someone next to us said "hey they want their check too." Felt completely ignored. Not to mention the one song playlist we suffered through for the first 20 min we sat there.

This is a great little sushi spot right in Cameron Village. Plenty of seating inside and out and the service was great. Amazing selection of rolls and other fare, although some are a little pricey. Worth every penny though. If youre in the mood for sushi and are walking by, stop in. You wont be disappointed

It may seem pricey but its always worth it. The fish is fresh and delicate and melts in your mouth. The rice is always perfectly cooked. They have some fancy rolls to choose from or just the basics, and they dont skimp out in the ginger, wasabi, or other sauces if you ask for them.
