Our overall experience was pretty positive. The sushi selection is wide and the fish is fresh. There was no wait and our waitress was pleasant. The house specials are unique to the place, the rice consistency was just right, and the individual pieces were also wrapped tightly...they did not fall apart when I was trying to eat it. The only issue we had was the wait time for our food. Granted it was 7pm on a Saturday night. However, there was only two sushi chef and it took us around 30 minutes to get our food. We might go again on less busy place. Now for our favorites: We LOVE the Fuji Yama. It is the best bang for your buck. It has salmon, tuna, yellowtail, masago, topped with delicious scallop. If you love raw sushi, this is the one to get. If you are looking for a cheap roll, scallop and eel are basic but solid for $5ish. I was disappointed with the the Genki Special. It had too much tempura for my taste. If you love eel and raw fish, the super rainbow roll encompasses everything. If you like a good eel roll, the sweet dragon melts in your mouth and has a generous amount of avocado!

This is my favorite sushi spot in the entire Raleigh area. Dont let the strip mall location or small size fool you, genki throws down some of the freshest most consistently excellent raw fish. The service here is always top notch and Ive never had even close to a questionable bite of food in well over 30 visits. Thier lunch bento box is easily the best lunch value there is, its crazy how much you get for 10 bucks. The food for non sushi sashimi eaters is great as well, their tempura is amazing. Saki selection is good, beer wine and cocktails available as well.

The sushi chefs are first-rate, the waitstaff is super nice, knowledgeable and the sushi is awesome. Believe it or not, even here in Cary, Genki is the best value in Wake County! The quality is excellent from the very first day and Ive eaten there right through last night. I eat there an average of once per week since opening and it just gets better and better! I have recommended this establishment to my neighbors and sushi critics and all agree this is great food at a competitive price! Robert F. - Apex

By far the best sushi around. Very fresh and flavorful! The special rolls will never let you down. One of the managers - Lee is amazing. I have visited multiple times with my boyfriend and she has remembered what we have ordered, how we customize our rolls, my boyfriends birthday, and even where we have sat! Her recommendations for sushi and saki are always delicious! I cannot speak highly enough of this place - you wont go wrong coming here on date night!

As a former New Yorker and now a long time Triangle resident I can tell you that this is the one of the very best places we have found to get sushi and we have frequented ALL of them. One of the best things about just moving to this side of Cary is that we can now go there all the time. I am very picky and I find their fish to be just about the freshest. Also, they have a full bar if you are not in the mood for saki and do make a good drink.Love it!

Ive eaten sushi all over the world and Robert (head sushi chef at Genki) compares to anyone. The fish is perfectly fresh and expertly prepared, ask for the Tuna Sandwich (you just havent lived until youve had one) or just let him make you something to fit your budget. Like most of the greatest sushi restaurants, the exterior (generic mall) doesnt match the interior (outrageously good food and service). This place has become my regular fish fix.

So my mother-in-law told me about this place and said we should try it. So on a Friday night, we tried this wonderful place and it was so good! The service was great, and the sushi was wonderful. I loved the prices. We got two orders of sushi, one app and two entrees for $40 dollars, PLUS a soda. :) Since our waiter was so nice and kept refilling our drinks and was very helpful we did leave a big tip. We do plan on going again. :)

This place has the BEST sushi that Ive had since I moved to the United States! Every piece of fish is so fresh, tasty, and authentic. My american friend who normally dont eat raw fish also had a few pieces of the white tuna and tuna, and he didnt complaint about any stomach problems afterwards.... it was a good place for him to start liking sushi! The staff was also friendly and attentive, and the dinner was yummy all around!

We couldnt find anything to complain about at Genki. The sushi chef was amazing... presentation was so beautiful. Prices were right in line with other restaurants. They had several fresh fish selections also that you wont find at your run-of-the-milll shusi bar. The location is wonderful also, conveniently located in south Raleigh.

Our local "go to" place for sushi. Small but quaint and well appointed inside. Service is average, but sushi is good, always fresh and well presented. Bam Bam roll is a must, but its VERY rich. Always some adventurous sushi specialty rolls that we have had good luck with. Sake selection is average, but we always find something to drink.

We just made our first visit to Genki. It is so close to our house. Having just got back from Japan, the warm hand towels when we arrived were a nice touch of authenticity. The quality of the sushi was superb and the service was top notch. We will definitely be going back soon.

New chef? We used to go there for special occasions and enjoyed the sushi a lot but recently it felt like the quality isnt like it used to be. I hope they will do something about it; its really hard to find a good sushi restaurants in Apex/Cary.

Some of the best sushi in NC. My wife and are very particular about how restaurants buy fish, store the fish, this place knows what they are doing. Dont be fooled be the shopping center and no frills atmosphere, this place has great sushi!

Fast service, good lunch prices, and excellent rolls. Skimps on the fish in the sashimi dishes and the miso soup is not the best. Nice ginger dressing on the salad. We will definitely return for the rolls and salad for a quick lunch!

Robert and Andy are masters at their art. The variety of fresh fish is amazing. Robert will also spend time educating his patrons about what fish is good to eat during each season. This restaurant is truly the best sushi in the RTP!
