Hanami is a place with surprises. Its a small place in College Park, right across from the University of Maryland campus, but its sushi is some of the best Ive had in America. I have high standards for sushi as I was born in Japan and lived there for 8 years, but the sushi here is quality. I went for my first time on valentines day and the place offered good service and gifted my girlfriend a heart-shaped box of chocolate after the meal. I went back on Mothers day and they gave my mom a special cucumber/imitation crab dish for free. Service wasnt very good that day, but I think its because a new employee was serving us. Account for at least $20-25 per person, because one dish wont necessarily fill you if youre hungry.. If your party is 2 people, make sure to order 3 dishes.

Fast service, but I feel it was at the cost of all else. Ordered teriyaki vegetables and teriyaki tofu as takeout. The teriyaki vegetables was probably 85% cucumber, which is fine if you love cucumber I guess. The tofu teriyaki tasted fine, except for twice I had to spit out something which was far too hard to chew. Upon visual inspection, I guess it was a bit of bone, but Im not sure. Regardless, there should not be inedible things in the food. Perhaps this was just a one-off, as I saw plenty of decent reviews for the place, but I would not come here again.

Extremely rude staff. I always love when the employees at these fast casual places expect a tip when all they do is punch in your order in a cash register, no differently from McDonalds. I went there, paid for my food and drew a line through the tip as usual in places where people are paid a full wage for their job, and the girl gave me a nasty look and was generally rude to us the rest of the time there. Find employees that do not think they are entitled to a tip for doing their job. Thanks.

My sister and I had dinner here on a Friday night. The staff was as attentive and prompt as a busy night would allow. We ordered the rocky mountain roll, the rainbow roll, and a spicy salmon roll to share. Easily the best sushi Ive had in CP and Im a senior. While the price was a little much for a Friday night between famished sisters, it wasnt unreasonable for a casual dinner date. Hanami will definitely see more business from me!

Overpriced, completely bland. Veggie teriyaki was all cucumber, with a few very small pieces of mushroom, sauce was watery and had no flavor. Miso soup was also mostly water and bland. There seemed to be random pieces of bone in the tofu teriyaki, which is revolting, considering the order was for vegetarians, but raises big questions for me about the kitchen work flow and sanitation.

First of all I walked in and it smelled like a stinky bathroom, then I ordered my food and saw where they make sushi. It was DISGUSTING!! Then it is way overpriced and the food there is horrible. They put mango purée on top of my uncooked sushi and I literally immediately regretted that nightmare of ordering sushi from there. I will never go back again.

we dont usually order anything but sushi when were there. It is in our opinion the best sushi in the area. They deliver, too. Nice people, good food. Also the place is clean, though small. I like that they often have different rolls available at different times, which can add some variety. excellent.

My uncle and I are regulars. The owners are very nice and the staff is very polite. We are always greeted with smiles. We always sit at the bar and order a warm sake to get started. Their sushi is very good and their beef teriyaki is probably one of the best Ive had. Definitely 5 star restaurant.

Takes a lot for me to give a 5 star rating, but this place deserves it. Out of all the places around Maryland, Hanami is my go-to spot for sushi. Always order the Sunny and a Rainbow Roll, but always have to pick a new special roll to try as well. Never has Hanami let me down.

They messed up my order and tried to charge me three times. The food is overpriced and the woman on the phone was very rude and disrespectful. This was my first experience with this restaurant and will definitely be my absolute last.

The teriyaki and tempura entrees are pretty good. The oyakudon is generally good too but it can be a little too spicy or salty. Can be very crowded depending on the university: best visited while students are not in town.

The food here is absolutely wonderful...especially the sushi. I havent found a sushi resturant in the area that compares. Admittedly, sometimes the staff can be slightly slow, but the food more than makes up for it.

Its OK. If you need a sushi fix this place will do. If youre looking for sushi that is outstanding quality and just WOW. This aint it. For the price Ive had much better sushi elsewhere.
