This is one of the very few restaurants that are open in the area on a Sunday. I took my parents here because it was open and because they like hibachi. Usually I can find something to eat myself, even though I cannot have soy sauce. I explained my allergy and the checkout girl took our order. A few minutes later she comes back from the kitchen and tells us they cannot serve me because of my allergy. So we got my parents food to-go and had to go hunting for food for myself. Honestly, though I cant be too upset, since I would rather them refuse me than be served something that will make me sick. My primary reason for the three stars is that my parents werent impressed with the food. They said there was very little sauce on the hibachi, so it was very bland. The white/shrimp/sakura/yumyum sauce was also very runny. Also, like most hibachi places in the RTP they dont have sweet carrots. Everywhere I have lived, hibachi comes with sweet carrots. They are a favorite of myself, my friends, and my family. I dont know why no restaurant (that I have found) in the triangle serves them!

The Worst Customer Services In Durham By Far!!! I eat at new Japan Every week because it is the only place close I can avoid fast food but if it wasnt I would burn it down!!! Since I eat there every week almost every other time I eat there they get my order wrong or they dont give me any zucchini. I have to order extra Zucchini just to get a normal amount of zucchini. Last time I ordered I got five pieces with the what they call "extra" and complained. They told me thats how much it should come with so I asked what comes with just the regular amount, "no Zucchini?" And they basically just looked at me. Nome of the employees know what proper customer service is. Ive called the owner and he said he would start giving customers more Zucchini and it has not changed. The employees make you feel like it is your fault when they get your order wrong. They even backed as if they are paying you and your not important. Im sure the owner Dosnt even care about the service. I wouldnt be surprised if this was a cover-up operation for Something Illegal.

Ive frequented here for years but probably not again. My order was placed at 6:36 pm on my receipt and was #124. After a long wait and watching at least a dozen people come after and leave before me I heard the call for #140 so damn 16 people before me on one of two running registers. I went to the counter and told the Asian girl, who looks twelve, "Im giving you two minutes then I want my money back." I gave them three generously, it was now 7:23 pm and as shes getting my money, the order gets miraculously finished, I declined the food and took my money elsewhere. The old man wasnt around and the employees were obviously doing whatever they wanted. He needs to teach his two underage daughters to crack the whip if theyre there running the show! Ill go to the hibachi at Brier creek, my dad says its better anyway.

The food is tasteless. Sauces in the dining room were empty. Had to practically beg a teenage cashier for some white sauce for my entree, which was runnier than I am used to. Cashier had no smile, and was more into her phone than customer service. Tables could have been wiped and straw wrappers everywhere in drink station. Only flavor my food had was the limited white sauce I was able to obtain (two little cups for my family of four to share). I wont be returning. Steak was cooked well though so hats off to whoever cooked the steak. Wasnt dry and chewy at all.

Awful. I ordered Hibachi chicken and shrimp, (being that this is a Japan restaurant) I figured they would cook it in front of me (thru the window of course). A guy walked from the back of the restaurant and proceeded to prep the flat top stove. He then scooped a few pieces of cooked chicken and shrimp off the hot bar and placed them on flat top. Poured some teriyaki sauce on top and then place it in my tray..(all of 30 seconds). I immediately asked for a refund. I will never return to place again. Best place to go for Japanese food is in Crabtree valley Mall.

Not sure what the deal with this place is. I went in and ordered a full half hour before closing time. Several folks came and ordered after me, got their food and left. When I asked the teenager (who was more concerned with checking her cell phone), she said it was "in the back.. still waiting". At 20 minutes Id had enough and asked for a refund. They were obviously getting ready to close, but I have no idea if my food was even really been prepared. I have no idea if their food is any good but due to the poor service I WILL NEVER RETURN.

They exceeded expectations when they first opened but now they got some girl workin that doesnt know what she is doing, who needs 7 white sacues for 1 plate? even after i asked for 4 white, 2 hot and a ginger! Oh and when theyre busy you best believe you better check your plate before leaving cause 9 times outta 10 your order is gonna be messed up! Other than that they are really good and the food is fairly priced

In few words, it was bland and full of onions. The chicken looked a little dried out or a few hours old. Not sure if they cook your food to order or just reheat it on the grill. In an entree you get: onions, a protein, onions, tasteless fried rice, onions, zucchini, onions, and a few pieces of broccoli. Did I mention you get onions? Dinner entree was like $7-8. Hibachi 101 at brier creek is better.

I love this place! I eat here atleast 2 times a week. I love their ginger sauce. Very nice atmosphere, everyone is very friendly. I especially like the hispanic girl and white girl at night. They always smile and are very polite. You have to try their tempura. Only bad thing I have to say is once my food was a little cold. But, if you want good hibachi, dont miss out on new japan!!

I always order the same thing, Hibachi chicken and scallops on white rice with lots of white sauce. I think its the white sauce that keeps me coming back for this dish, because I love it and I cant seem to find a white sauce that compares! I did notice that theyve shrunken the amount of white sauce in those small containers which is not good since I love lots of this sauce!

New japan on miami are awesome sports! My awesome other half was in a wreck on the way to his birthday dinner & I only knew they were at a "japan express" - solid people at that japan express sang "happy birthday" out loud in case he was there... it was the wrong one... but, out of 5 "japan express" locations in the area... they sang just in case!!!

First and last time I eat here. I placed my order by phone. The order is ready and bagged when I get there, but it wasnt what I ordered by phone. I was in a hurry so I decided just to deal with it. I get back to my meeting and realize I have no silverware and the white sauces were 1/4 of the way full. Food was not good at all. A wasted $8!!
