Fine dining is as much about the eating experience as it is about the food, and in that regard, the Green Valley Grill comes through. High ceilings and spacious booths ensure that the restaurant never feels crowded, even when it is full. The wait staff is prompt, professional and polite. Of course, this would mean little if the food was not up to par with the presentation. Fortunately GVG acquits itself nicely. An eclectic assortment of small plates includes everything from high-end burgers (the short rib sliders come recommended) to seafood to flatbreads. The truffle fries are full of zest, while faro, pine nuts and squash put a unique spin on a salmon salad. The entrée selection is limited and several chef’s features rotate regularly. The traditionalist will be comforted by the presence of such staples as loin of lamb, steak (New York strip or filet mignon) and roast chicken. Those looking for an international bent can go for the jagerschnitzel (German breaded veal cutlet) or the paella (saffron rice with seafood and sausage), the latter of which is seasoned to perfection. Portions are reasonable – you won’t go hungry, but don’t anticipate leftovers. If you do have room afterwards, be sure to take in a dessert. Like the rest of GVG’s fare, there’s a good balance between traditional (an apple tart and crème brulee) and inventive (white chocolate cheesecake and the Nutty Irishman, a frozen cake/cream/coffee concoction). You really can’t go wrong in either direction. Needless to say, food of this quality will agitate your wallet while mollifying your stomach. Small plates and salads are in the $11-$12 range, entrees go from $19 to over $30 and desserts run between $6 and $7. Dinner for two can easily put you out half a c-note and lunch/brunch is barely less costly. As a hotel restaurant, the Green Valley Grill has an unspoken obligation to convention: it must appeal to guests and travelers of the simplest tastes. It takes up this mantle well while still finding plenty of room for creative flourishes. This deft balance makes it one of Greensboro’s premier dining spots for special occasions, as long as you have the dough.

Perfect meal. My date and I went to Green Valley Grille last night and found after many visits over the years, the food, atmosphere, staff and service better than ever (if possible). They continue to find interesting combinations of flavors, the best service and always we are always seated immediately with reservations. My date and I ordered the Meditteranean Tapas for an appetizer and it was a generous portion to share. The meatballs and Tzatziki sauce were divine as was the hummus (the best Ive had in a long time) as well as the grilled artichokes and marinated feta cheese. We each ordered the *Wood-Fire Grilled Salmon with vintage sherry-honey glaze and garlic-thyme butter over polenta and wilted greens with a wonderful Craggy Range Sauvignon Blanc. My friend ordered the chocolate cheese cake and I ordered a Grande Marniere for the dessert. With such a beautiful atmosphere and the best food, I really dont want to go anyplace else.

Ordered the Mediterranean Tapas shared by five adults, everything on it was a hit! (I recommend smearing a little burrata on the pita and adding a thin slice of the Serrano ham!!) Potato Leek Soup was a generous portion, velvety smooth and really benefited from the fresh ground black pepper I added. I replaced the mashed potatoes with polenta on the Parmesan Crusted Chicken which I thought was a great accent to the bright lemon garlic sauce and tangy herbed goat cheese. I have to mention that their bread is also good, seed-crusted and served with fresh, creamy butter! The other diners at my table enjoyed the Sherry Braised Beef Short Ribs, the Wood-Fired Rotisserie Chicken and Chefs Special New York Strip which were all very popular flavor packers, but the steak was described as a little tough although well prepared. Definitely would come back and explore the menu more and try dessert - which we were just too full for this time!

After visiting the past few times, we are consistently disappointed. We live in Greensboro and the service is better in other restaurants not to mention the overall food. Its just okay, nothing better than any regular chain restaurant. Over the years the service has significantly faded. I was hesitant to try it again. So we went.... We waited in a NOT busy section, 20 minutes later with only water on our ANNIVERSARY, which was obvious due to the gifts we brought in. Our waitress slammed our waters down and walked by twice but no drink order. We had to walk around to the bar and tell the bartender we wanted our check. I dont know why we tried again when the last experience the service was the same, my salad was drowned in tart dressing and the dip was bland. Overall the hotel and decor is nice but I dont plan on staying there, surely room service would never show up or be less than mediocre at best.

Visited here at the end of April celebrating a special occasion & it was nice. For drinks we ordered a Lemon Meringue cocktail (which was pretty amazing) & my better half had one of their craft beers. We also tried the Mediterrenean tapas, which was really good. The burrata was super creamy & the bruscetta was delicious. For dinner we had the Oak Fired Filet Mignon & the Holstein Schnitzel. The filet was great, but the bacon-mustard compote kinda reminded my of the taste of a ballpark with mustard. The food was good but the flavor profile couldve been better. The veal schnitzel was served with truffle fries & a white anchovy cream sauce so it was layer on layer of heavy fried food. Needless to say, we had to take a walk around the shops over at Friendly to walk off some of the meal.

GvG is on my top 10 Greensboro Dining destinations: Great decor, decent service, food is very refined and seasoned well. Their potato leak soup is very good, when they have it. Last week I ate there with my wife, We had the Paella the chorizo was a tad overpowered in the dish needs to be balanced out a tad. I had the duck its a pretty well-rounded dish. My wife had the Parmesan crusted chicken, had to send that one back was still pinkish in the center, in their defense it was a very THICK chicken breast and to cook it through would have dried out the thinner outer portions. But my wife commented it was "Tasty". We had the peaches and cream sponge cake desert, very nice seasonal end to a meal. I am puzzled how GvG does so well and Lucky 32s seems to struggle. 4.5 stars.

We went Green Valley for Valentines Day, it was very disappointing. The bar was lovely the bartenders friendly, made wonderful drinks. Decor was nice and ambiance was delightful. When we moved to our table the waiter was not over friendly, the menu didnt seem to have much of a variety. When we received the food was acceptable but not what we had expected. The chicken was dry not juicy, desert had absolutely no flavor. Most of my food was still on my plate when it was removed, assumed it would be boxed up but it was never to be seen again. Must say from the reviews we expected so much more from Green Valley Grill our experience was regrettable.
