This review is written for the poor service and the extremely rude manager we experienced. Coquito is a place that my girlfriend and I truly enjoyed going to, as the food was usually delicious and the atmosphere and bar staff accommodating and professional. However, last night after reserving a table for 8, we experienced wait staff who continued to forget things, food that we normally love cooked terribly and were ultimately disrespected by the manager at the end of the night. The night started off as we asked for a separate check for our group of four, while we waited for the others to arrive. Some appetizers we ordered did not come out as the waitress forgot to put them in and when the entrees came out, things were undercooked and not at all cooked like we’ve experienced before. Aside from that, the entertainment was wonderful and we had such a great time dancing. The real problem that absolutely ruined the end of a great night was when there was a confusion with our separate checks. After explaining to our waitress that our separate check only purchased 4 empanadas and the other 5 empanadas belonged to our friends, she willingly changed the check. However it was still wrong, as we were still charged for an extra empanada and were being charged the tax and automatic gratuity that was on the old check. After calling over the waitress and manager who was a tall older man with gray hair, so much time was spent using cell phone calculators trying to show them the error in the math, which was just removing the extra empanada, and adjusting tax and tip change. We wasted 30 MINUTES of our time. Simply put, we were trying to correct a waitresses mistake and not PAY FOR THINGS WE DID NOT ORDER. We were not once apologized to by the rude manager, as he was defensive the entire time. When we exclaimed that we did not feel we should pay 18 % gratuity because we wasted 30 minutes trying to correct a problem HIS STAFF created and essentially killed the entire mood, my girlfriend was told “well if he wasn’t so adamant about the wrong check you wouldn’t have wasted 30 minutes”. How dare you treat your customers like this and expect to stay in business? If you think that overcharging a customer is the customer’s fault and something they should not be adamant about, you should NEVER EVER work in the service industry. Three of us come from families who own their own businesses and we would never disrespect customers the way your manager disrespected us. Unfortunately, your manager ruined the entire evening and left us upset, feeling like we were the ones who did something wrong. It’s a shame to see such a great establishment suffer a customer loss due to extremely poor staffing.

My first experience at this restaurant today was not good what so ever. i called ahead to see if i would need reservations and i was told by Bill "if i were to get there right away i should be fine". i explained to him that i was in Maybrook,NY but he said thats fine we are not that busy right now . so I made the 39 mile trek to be basically insulted by the host Annette . she asked if i had a reservation . i explained to her the conversation i had with Bill and she proceeded to insult me by saying that i did not call the restaurant and that i must have called a different restaurant. how would she know if i called the restaurant if she was not the person i spoke with. my wife and I and 3 others in my party one of which was my Daughter who Graduated From high school today decided to leave because we felt mistreated and insulted. i called the restaurant from the parking lot and spoke to Bill again, he remembered the earlier conversation we had but for some reason could not remember the part about me driving from maybrook or the time the conversation took place. i left the phone conversation with the impression that if had a Star Trek Transporter and instantly appeared at his door step i would have gotten a table without a problem.the restaurant was very busy . maybe that explains the confusion but it does not warrant my party and I being insulted. the ambiance from the foyer looked really nice and the food smelled good but i couldnt tell you what it taste like. we ended up at Limoncellos in Goshen who were very accomodating and extremely polite. the food was very good . and no i do not have any affiliation with limoncello and this was actually the first time we ever ate there.my wife and I definitely want to go back to coquitos . the place was hopping and like i said before the aromas smelled great .we hope it will be a better experience next time.

My friend and I stopped here for lunch after a morning of apple picking. When we arrived we were the only ones there and it was cool to have the restaurant to ourselves for a short while. Our server was real sweet and patient as we took forever deciding what to order because everything looked soo good. Within the hour of our arrival, a large private party arrived and people just started coming in back to back. The restaurant was definitely understaffed and unprepared for the amount of people coming in to eat which is the reason they didnt get 4 stars. Our server stated they get really packed at night and on the weekends. We were lucky enough to get there early and leave before the crowds came. The decor is really sleek and modern and they did a great job giving off that Latin vibe. Now to the food, I ordered the pernil sandwich with arroz con gandules which was absolutely delicious. The bread was soft and warm just like I like it and the pernil was very tasty. The arroz con gandules I couldve ate by itself as a regular meal thats how yummy it tasted. I would love to check this place out on the weekend and be a part of the experience and simply hang out listening to some great music and eating some tasty Latin food.

I visited this restaurant for lunch while visiting the apple orchards in the area. They have a private parking lot which had plenty of available spaces. There was only one staff person present to attend to the customers which caused being greeted and assisted to take sometime. However, the waitress was very friendly and helpful. I did feel bad for the waitress who tried her best to attend to everyone while the restaurant slowly filled with large parties. The restaurant itself was decorated in a modern but beautiful style. I tried their signature drink coquito to start and it was delicious. I must say that it was one of the best tasting versions of coquito that I have tried in a while. For my meal I ordered a pernil sandwhich with arroz con gandules. I wasnt very impressed with the pernil (This maybe due to the fact that I have tasted slow roasted homemade pernil) but it was good. I was much more fascinated with my side dish which was absolutely the best part of my meal. The restaurant is a bit expensive in my opinion but who knew Warwick, NY could have such delicious puerto rican food!

I had to write this review after reading several negative reviews to let you know that my husband and I had a wonderful dinner at Coquito last night and will definitely be back. Though some people have complained about the music, it was the music that brought us there, and we loved it. The food was also excellent, but that didnt surprise me as we were regulars back when it was the Backyard Grill (same owner/chef, Bill Leech; a move away from Warwick is why we havent been there until now.) Portions were generous and the food very fresh, and I did not find the prices out of line for the quality that we were served. Service was very attentive and friendly - my husband even commented on the way out how "sweet" our server had been. I know experiences can vary; ours was lovely and I hope that yours is too.
