I am a concierge at a luxury hotel in New York City and have to say: I LOVED my experience at Iron Forge Inn. My girlfriend and I rented a car, spent the day at Storm King park, visited historic Sugar Hill and ended the evening with a romantic dinner at Iron Forge Inn in Warwick. We reserved a one-of-a-kind experience: the Chefs Tasting menu (7 courses), served in a private gazebo. The experience was so unique, romantic and memorable we could not wait to tell others about it! The gazebo is perched up on a hill which you have to take a mini hike to. We were seated at the white-clothed round table, with candles everywhere, music and champagne waiting for us upon arrival. The waiter, Steve, was excellent: efficient, professional, and very friendly (yet unobtrusive). The food was great: dont expect Jean Georges-level gastronomic experimentation (which we didnt want); but a tasty, hearty American meal, mostly from local ingredients and prepared with a slight modern twist. No raspberry-jam-infused foie gras here, but the foie gras dumplings did just fine! The lamb was cooked perfectly. It fell off the bone yet was not over-cooked to the point of lacking any juices. The duck was yummy. We hope to come back with friends next time. If you are looking for romantic, unique, memorable: come here and you will not regret it.

Iron Forge Inn is an absolute gem of the Warwick Valley. The quality of the food, the attention of the servers, the local flavors and seasonal menus leave no detail overlooked. In addition to the seasonal food offerings (based upon what is in-season and locally-sourced), the design of the tasting menus entices the palate and carefully coordinates between flavors and good in such a way that the taste buds delight in each course as it arrives fresh from the kitchen. The "amuse bouche" welcomes you to the meal and sets the tone for a fantastic dining experience. The main restaurant offers a very small bar and 4 interior dining areas, plus the stone patio outside, and a gazebo suite for two with a romantic sunset view and private wait staff. There also is a taproom on-site, offering higher quality pub grub and drinks. Outside of the typical evenings pleasantries, the restaurant also offers brunch and special events throughout the year. This is a fine quality establishment and truly a treat to all who enjoy the fine quality of a NYC restaurant in the comfort and serenity of Orange County, NY.

Ate there Sat evening. We came for the brunch another time and we enjoyed it so we figured we would enjoy dinner there. We were so very wrong. We ordered the 4 course meal. It took over 1 hour to get the first course. The course lacked food. We were very disappointed in the amount of food. I would have been embarrassed if I were the server to bring out such little portions , they were tapa size not dinner size. The beef shoulder roast was practically raw, not med rare...it was nasty. I couldnt even eat it. I had it wrapped to give to my dogs. The table next to us ordered dessert and I overheard them saying how small the size of it was and they then ordered another dessert. I dont like to feel like I am ripped off when I eat out and this time that is exactly how we felt. I dont think we will be back. BTW my dogs loooved the raw meat, so maybe one day they may want to eat there.

Went there for Sunday Brunch . BIG MISTAKE ! Ordered coffee, mine never came, ordered drinks, small all ice , got only one mimosa. 2nd never came ! Food was tiny, 2 dry eggs over a smidge of corned beef hash ! No home fries or toast ! Coffee never came . 3 pieces of bacon $7.00. 4 peoples bill came to over $100.00. For what ? Desert any one ? No way! 1 piece of cake was $8.00 ! Lost our reservation ! Ditzy young blond girl. Sat us right in front of the Jazz band ! My sister went to pay. Ditzy blond could not find our check. She had to tell her what we ate ! People coming out said it took two hours to get served ! Parking lot was muddy. Walkway was messy with loose bricks everywhere ! I almost twisted an ankle. NEVER GO THERE ! RIP OFF ! BAD BAD BAD !

Disappointing. The look of the place is lovely and historic inside and out. The greeters were fine. The food was what youd expect to get in a decent diner. Nothing special at all. We wanted to have a special Thanksgiving dinner. The turkey was from a roll that features a lot of breast stuffed with odds and ends of dark meat and not from a fresh roasted turkey. It tasted bland. My plate had almost no stuffing and what there was was not good. The salad was skimpy. The rolls were cold and appeared to be from a package. The mashed potatoes were goopy. The cappucino was very milky and lacked the authority of a good espresso within. A male on the waitstaff was petulant and peevishly complained about having to work hard on the holiday.

The atmosphere is charming and has a great deal of potential -- small rooms, decor lovely--very inviting. However it seems the restaurant is trying to be a very upscale fancy restaurant with all the strange combinations and unusual prep and it falls flat. Both my husband and I were extremely diappointed in the taste of the food -- why not just a delicious French Oinion Soup instead of adding unusual ingredients and turning it into a disappoinment -- we could not eat it. My chicken was over cooked and dry, and came with cooked spinach (how many people would actually choose to order that?) Portions were less than adequate for price. All in all, a diappointment.

My husband took me here for our wedding anniversary , we had fond memories of many years ago coming here and having a wonderful dinner . All I can say is this place is NOT the same as many years ago. Very disappointed. Food much less than adequate - not just small portions but quailty that they had 15+ yrs ago is no longer . Im not a big eater and I was hunger when I left. I had a four course meal with entree the size of an appetizer. Salad was ok dessert not good . All this for over $100 just for the meal. I make better food myself !

Absolutely amazing experience every time. Go there at least once every few months its a fantastic restaurant with the old house charm and a 5 star dining experience. I have never eaten anything bad (or even okay, its always beautiful to my tastebuds) there and Erics culinary skills are supurb. Great job!

This is probably my least favorite place in the area. The bottom level is in a basement. Its unclean and theres not much room to move around. The meals are expensive, ($20 for pasta!) And the service is not great. Well never return, which is a bummer because it came highly recommended.

The food was excellent, the atmosphere is even better. You eat in a house built in the 1700s. I ate in the tap room which is in the basement. Real wood burning fire place, 1700s decor, and great potato cheddar soup. Add this place to your list!

We frequent the restaurants in Manhattan and I have to say that this rivals many of them. The food here has never disappointed us and the setting is charming. Whenever we have visitors up from the city, this is our restaurant of choice.
