Went to A Toute Heure this weekend. The food is very good, and uses ingredients from local sources (which are posted on a black board -- tastefully done -- in the restaurant). The restaurant is BYOB, so dont forget your favorite bottle of wine. We had the grilled cheese appetizer which was outstanding! We also got a plate of peas and beans which were wonderful - warm and crunchy and drizzled in roasted garlic oil -- heavenly! For entrees, my wife had the mussel pot, which she enjoyed. I had the free-range chicken which was very good. Portion sizes are average, which I find perfect, since I hate to leave a meal feeling like I cant walk. We didnt try dessert because we were full, but well make a point of it next time. The decor and atmosphere is French Country, and despite being in the middle of Cranford, the interior definitely pulls off a sense of serentity and a country charm. The manager, or the owner -- I didnt ask, stopped by our table frequently to check in on us (and the restaurant was packed, so this wasnt just special attention we were getting), and he was very pleasant and seemed genuinely happy that each guest was there. As obvious as that should be, so many restaurant employees seem indifferent to the guests. The prices are higher than average, but the food and the atmosphere merits the few extra dollars. I believe the menu changes frequently based upon the availability of ingredients, which is something I find appealing, since its always nice to try something new.

By far the best restaurant in town. The restaurant is owned by a local couple. The husband is the manager and greeter and the wife is the head chef. They are both very friendly and take time to get to know everyone. The food has never let me down. The prices are higher than average in town, but so is the taste of the meal. I love the always changing menu and especially the mussels. The selection of cheeses is also a nice touch for both an appetizer and a dessert. It is BYOB so we are always able to bring a nice bottle of wine and they are happy to uncork it for free. It is nice to see a restaurant use locally grown products in their foods. A Toute Heures menu always shows which local farms and stores are being used in the food that night. The restaurant is relatively small so walking in is no longer an option. I would recommend getting reservations a few days in advance. There is a nice outdoor seating area that I like to use in the summer. I am now a regular there and the owners are always glad to see us and sit and chat for a bit. I recommend A Toute Heure to everyone for a nice Friday or Saturday night meal.

I arrived with a friend 20 minutes before 12. Told we had to wait outside as they were vacuuming. Impression. At noon, a woman came and told us they were open. I thought she was the cleaner or something - old jeans, sweater, etc. However, she took us to a table for 2 and explained that we could only sit at a table for two. We said it was cramped right next to the wall and this woman said if we didnt like it we could go somewhere else. OK - not the most professional person I have ever come in contact with! To the food. PEI mussels - the size of half a pea, but tasty broth, such as there was. Fries which tasted as if they had already been cooked once. Good bread. Had a decent ice cream for dessert. Would not go there again.

Atmosphere was very cozy and friendly. Went with my boyfriend for a weeknight dinner. Food was excellent and we ended up leaving so full! We tried one of the local cheeses as well as the pizza appetizer which were both great. For entrees we had the rabbit pot pie which was good, and the pork shank which was straight up amazing! We told the server we were celebrating our anniversary and our dessert (ice cream, also delicious) came with a sweet "happy anniversary "written on it. Will definitely return.

This place is a jewel! The whole package makes it one of my favorite restaurants, period. Of course you need to know to bring your own wine, but this tiny inconvenience helps keep your check reasonable. The food is delicious, creative, flavorful and served in the right portion. The service is attentive and knowledgable. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate, probably more suitable for a romantic or fanily dinner than for a business meal. I ab-so-lu-te-ly recommend!!!

My husband and I have been going here for dinner, lunch and brunch for 5 years now and highly recommend this restaurant for its amazing food and excellent service! Jim & Andrea and their wonderful staff have always made us feel welcome and we always look forward to coming here to dine. The menu is constantly updated with fresh farm to table selections and is one of the best restaurants in New Jersey!

My husband and I have been there once and really enjoyed it. Would have gone more but we can never seem to get a table. It is always a long wait. Tried to make reservations a day ahead of time but did not have anything until after 9:30. Would try to plan ahead but it is hard with small children. It would be helpful if they were open Sundays. Maybe one day we will eat there again.

Ive been here for both lunch and dinner. The food is fantastic and the service is even better. I hardly ever get out of work for lunch, but being as this restaurant is right around the corner, that is going to have to change. I told my wife that I went to lunch here and she immediately asked if we could go to dinner here in a few days! Yes, it is that good.

Holy cow, this place is fantastic, everyone who goes there loves it. It is fine dining in an intimate setting in the less tony part of town. It reminds me of a restaurant in the East Village. It is expensive so for me this would be a place to go to celebrate something like a birthday or anniversary. Worth every penny though. Helps that it is BYOB too.

We love this place. Every meal weve had here has been outstanding, the service is impeccable. It is somewhat expensive but the food is so fresh, local and perfectly prepared that it is worth the price. Its also BYOB which keeps the price more reasonable. I would recommend it to anyone, our new favorite place!

Fresh, local food. Prepared very well. Been here twice, and have very little to complain about. The prices may seem a little high, but the quality of the food, service, and the fact that it is BYO negate any of that. Definitely make a reservation, as they are consistently fully booked.

Consistently amazing food! This is our "go-to" restaurant in Cranford. Add great food and the ease and money save of BYOB and A Toute Heure is a winner every time. Try the cooking classes offered on a Monday evening throughout the year and recreate a taste of A Toute Heure at home.

Food was excellent, great service, we ate outside and took in a nice late-summer dinner. Everything tasted super fresh (got a fish special), dessert (got the summer fruit cobbler) was on point, and the coffee was very good as well. Prices are reasonable, and its a BYO.
