The sausage in the window should have said it all. Walking into the place the atmosphere was tense, it was mid morning on a Saturday and the place was crowded with people waiting for a table. Since Id been fasting for blood work earlier on in the day, I didnt want to wait very long so we went to sit at the counter at the center of the place. There was some scraps left on the counter from its last occupants so a busboy with a rather mundane attitude, like he didnt want to be here, came over and started cleaning the counter, only to drop the rag he was using. Now, any sensible individual would retire that rag and get a new one, he didnt. The counter extended outward and his half assed cleaning job meant the rag essentially flew tward the back of the counter area, making it hard to grab with the stationary seats in the way. He used his shoe to drag it about a foot or so from under the counter and placed it right back on the counter and continued cleaning. Afterwards he threw our silverware down on the counter, hastily making its way into the napkin he set out, meaning that there was a good chance that the floor was now on our silverware. After a very nice waitress came over promptly to serve us as we were putting on our coats we said we were leaving and did so. As we left, in the foyer there was a bitten-into sausage sitting in the window, that should have been a warning sign. Overall very unsanitary conditions seen in the 45 or so seconds spent inside but the staff are all nice and I was surprised at how quickly someone came over to serve us.

Ive been going to Circle M since I was in utero. The food is consistently tasty and fresh. The cheeseburgers, house dressing, chicken brochette, and matzoh ball soup are my favorites. The atmosphere is very "diner-y" and the service varies from average to great. My only complaint is that some of the prices are too high. Many of the dinners seem designed to be for multiple people, but there is a sharing charge! For instance, the Chicken Brochette is $19.55 and is a huge portion that also comes with soup, salad, coffee/tea/soda and dessert. I would have preferred they offer a smaller portion of the dish for less, rather than including the kitchen sink. The only rational thing to do with a meal like that is to share - $20 for a meal you eat yourself at a diner is silly.

After having our breakfast, which only had two hairs in it, we moved on to the toast. Upon my wifes acquisition of a small packet of jam I spotted the cockroach waiting patiently for us to finish. I couldve been an ash whole and announced loudly to the roach (and whoever else may hear) that it should not be there. Instead I took the whole jam thing outside and sacrificed the roach to the shoe sole gods. Our meal was not comped but we were offered a muffin or cookie for our troubles. At this point our appetites were lost and we left and will not return.

I travel thru out New York and stop to catch a bite to eat and catch up with some work at almost every diner in NY. First time I been asked to leave. Arrived at 9AM order coffee and breakfast 45 minutes later I was asked to put my laptop away because it didnt look nice for the costumers. Mind you there were about 12 tables open. On a Saturday Morning, maybe thats one of the reasons its so empty. SHAME on the manegement and probably the owner (the old man) that asked me to pay up...... SHAME, SHAME!

One of the worst experiences I have ever had in a restaurant. It was almost laughable how bad the service was. Waitress messed up our order 3 times and couldnt care less. Never heard of a restaurant charging an additional $5.25 for french fries with an order of eggs. When I complained to the owner, he responded that I probably dont eat out much.Great customer service. Next time I see any empty restaurant I ll know better.

Absolute worst diner! We were the only ones in the place and the waitress couldnt stay off her phone long enough to actually do her job. Then when I ordered something from the menu she was like we dont have that, thats not on our menu! So I had to show it to her and she was like well no one must like it because ive never seen it!

owner really cares about quality. Service is fun - its a diner, not the "Four Seasons Hotel" but among diners, it is one of my favorites. Meet many consulting clients there.
