My experience from J Kogi was a rather disappointing ride. As the roller coaster started (me reading the reviews) I was very pleased to read that the portions and flavor were promising... I was excited.. no.. thrilled.. to try J Kogi. As the roller coaster began to climb the rails (me going over the menu) the menu was very clear and I knew what they really had to offer. The sauces also had translations and descriptions which was a nice touch since Im not very well acquainted with the names. I ordered the bulgogi ribeye. Boy I was so excited to have a plate of that in front of me.. the pictures from peoples reviews looked absolutely gorgeous (unlike my ex wife). Delivery was VERY quick, I ran outside as I got the call in excitement. The driver was very kind and was not at all bothered that I wasnt able to receive his previous calls due to having no signal inside the library. Very kind guy, I hope he is doing well. Once I had the plate infront of me, I began to imagine all the kind and robust flavors my tastebuds were about to experience :) But... the roller coaster quickly stopped working due to maintenance issues in the amusement parks (food was not up to my expectations) The portion I had received was very unfortunate, and the food was cold.. The bacon fried rice seemed like normal white sticky rice with moist bacon bits. The veggies seemed to over power the taste of the beef and rice as well (very tangy). The sauce was promising, and I enjoyed it. Perhaps my experience did not match the rest of the reviews here because I literally ordered 20 mins before they were closing, and I understand that this does hinder a restaurants ability to serve at their finest ; so I will be trying this place again eventually. Just not soon. My trust issues takes time to heal (ex-wife cheated on me), and once Im over her, I will try the bulgogi once again. In all.. low portion, dissatisfying flavor and rice, great sauce, and good delivery and customer service. Thank you.

Service: 5 star Quality and freshness: 5 star Flavor: 5 star Ambiance: 5 star Simplicity of Menu: 5 star No no.... This is not a world class restaurant, or worth a detour, but for 11:30pm on a Sunday night in Richmond, this place fully deserves a five star! Food Ordered: house bowl - Korean Bibimbap simplified. Walked in, looked on the menu, and saw the flexibility of the house bowls, and that was it; I knew what I was ordering, one of the fastest decisions Ive ever made in a restaurant... You can choose the base, protein, veggies and sauce. I got the pork belly for protein, the kimchi bacon fried rice for base, soy bean sprouts and cucumbers for veggies, and all the four sauces. After 15 minutes the big bowl came out, just looking at it, I knew I was in for a treat, I didnt expect it to be so fresh, and flavorful! The only problem that I had was, that I simply couldnt hold myself back and finished It all... I also liked how pleasing to the eye it looked in the big bowl. My favorite sauce was the Fwa: sweet honey mayo. Layout and ambiance: You order at the counter, and they will bring it out for you, yes its a big place, but what I liked even more, is the layout and the high ceiling, it makes the place feel cool, hip, and trendy, and even more specious... Bottom line: Im happy that I stumbled upon this place, Ill have from now on a quality late night option in Richmond.

Delivery order was freezing cold. I kid you not. Even the sauces they provided for the food were warmer than the food itself. Unbelievable! Do not be fooled by the portions you see in the pictures because you will be receiving less proteins and a lot of vegetables in place. I ordered my food without carrots and radish and I received all the vegetables they have to offer. The egg in which i added to my order tasted bland and the yolk was runny. Honestly, it appears as though the egg was old and they microwaved it because some areas were hot while others were cold. This was my first time trying J Kogi and going through the reviews, this place seemed promising but i may have just been an unlucky customer. I ordered practically 30 minutes before closing time so perhaps that is why why food was not top notch. I will say this though, their delivery drivers are pretty quick and prompt and are determined to ensure the food gets to the hands of the customer. Whoever delivered my food, thank you. You delivered my food in under 25 minutes after my order had been placed.

Great find in the heart of the city. The food tasted great, the portion was very generous, and the service was rather quick. It is a small place, but it wasnt crowded. The menu isnt complicated and its easy to place an order. They serve Korean beer and rice liquor, but it is a bit pricey and I stuck with the food. The pork belly was excellent and the hot sauce, while not hot, was still tasty.

I usually enjoy the food here a lot. I grab the wings they have there for a light meal sometimes since they are conveniently close and usually really on point. Today though, I stopped by to get some. While they werent terrible it felt like they were smaller than usual, cooked a bit lightly, and the sauce in them was lacking major. Over all a disappointed trip to a usually happy customer.

I had never heard of this place and happened to walk by and give it a try. I absolutely loved it! The staff was super friendly and the food was outstanding. I got a chicken bowl with white rice, most of the veggies, and the barbecue sauce. It was inexpensive and I had plenty for two meals. I will definitely be going back!

Im a student at VCU and visited the food stand on campus for the first time. I order the fried rice with bacon, all the veggies, pork belly and FWA sauce. It was so delicious! It had the perfect amount of spice and was really fresh. Cant wait to go back!

We had a last minute 20 person reservation, and we needed to be in & out in an hour. They opened the restaurant just for us and had all of our food ready by the time we got there! On top of being accommodating there food was delicious! Great service!

J Kogi is reliably delicious. Its the place I take people when visiting Richmond so they can get a sense of the rich flavors our city has to offer. J Kogi is also the place Ive been to eat the most in Richmond, and I wouldnt change a thing about that.

Giant portions of delicious Korean food. The bulgogi is amazing, and you can customize your bowl in a dozen different ways. Good selection of beers available, and ultra friendly service. A chalk board and high chairs make this a kid friendly place.

I wasnt allowed inside mainly because Im a dog. My owner said the food was awesome. We sat outside and he was pleased with the service. Hes eaten there twice. It must be good because theres nothing left for me but good smells!

Had the bulgogi ribeye on top of kimchi bacon fried rice with mixed vegetables and the fwa sauce. Banging! Will def go here again. Bacon worked perfectly with the kimchi. Probably because bacon works perfectly with life.
