I was there last Mothers Day and was disappointed due to very poor service. I had to wait for over an hour after seating before I got my food. Everyone sitting near me got it before me and even finished eating, before my table was served. Thought that to be an anomaly. So decided to give it a second chance today (Valentines Day). The experience was no better. Two tables that I could see, where the customers came after me were served before me. It was not fancy order. Just the standard breakfast with eggs and toast. I was served with an open container of butter. How do I know that it was not some butter picked up from another table? And what will they do with the remaining butter after I left the diner? How will the next customer feel getting used butter? I was given only one choice of jellies. All other tables had three choices. When I asked the waiter about it, he said I had to ask for other varieties of jelly. Why? This was the last time I visit this place. The second chance given failed.

The food here is usually very good. Staff is friendly. Try to get seated in Gregs section, to the far right wing of the diner. He is a great waiter with a sense of humor and is always attentive to your order. On the left side, Augie is a very good waiter who will go out of his way to accomodate you. The dinner specials are also a good value. You can get spinach pie, chicken continental, turkey with stuffing, to name a few. The specials come with tea, coffee or soda, bread basket, soup, salad and dessert. Lunch specials are also a good deal. Try the stuffed tomato or Turkey burger. Lunch includes soup and cookie or brownie for dessert. Overrall, a nice clean establishment with good food, nice atmosphere and mostly friendly staff. Decent parking in the back as well.

The waitress was the only enjoyable thing here. My burger was overcooked with a slightly burnt bun. It was also very dry. The pickles were bland and my milkshake was sub par. The pancakes were okay but they too were a bit burnt. On top of that the place seemed to have a weird odor and didnt look to clean. The bathroom also was also disgusting and the hand dryer looked like it was from the 90s and reminded me more of an old asthmatic man breathing on my hands. Which is to say it did not work. Overall a very bad experience on made a little better by a great charismatic waitress.

We went because Newsday said it was one of the best diners on Long Island. The first time, I had a pastrami sandwich. The pastrami was terrible, and there was one piece of Kraft American cheese on the bun. Not very good, but we gave it a second chance. The next time was worse. My wifes omelette was burnt, and my turkey burger melt was a grey-pink oblong blob with no taste. Again, there was one slice of cheese sort of melted on to the top of the bun. I give any place I try a second chance, but never a third.

Enjoyable atmosphere but the prices are a bit inflated for the breakfast fair. Service is slow on getting your food, but delicious when it finally arrives. If you expect a refill on water or soft drinks than you need to ask for it multiple times to receive. Coffee is easier to get refills on since the waitress isnt responsible for getting it. There is a dedicated coffee guy going around refilling.

Owner or manager who ever it was made me wait 10 mins wen there were open clean tables and let the next person get a table right away probably because iam young and he felt he could disrespect me like like while he just sat and talked with someone for 10 mins and then seated me and the food took awhile as well felt disrespected and disappointed and also another note the toast was stale and cold

I have been searching for the best French Fries on Long Island and finally found the ideal location The Empress Diner and they were Sweet Potato Fries to boot Delicious, Delicious Delicious and very, very very, Crispy Thank you so much for listening to a customers request. Thanks to the young lady who waited on my wife and myself unfortunately did not get her name.

The Empress diner is a true " home cooking" place where all the staff are warm and friendly. It is like "Cheers" in that everyone knows your name. The food is as good as it gets outside your own kitchen and the prices are kind to your pocket book. It is truly an annex to our home. Linda and Steve Leest

Service was HORRIBLE!!! Waitress could not have been any more nasty if she tried. This diner needs a Good Clean up. Food @ best best meehhh. Normally, I would say something, but since it was my first time I will NOT be returning to this dive. So, do yourself a favor go somewhere else to eat.

Food is ALWAYS excellent. Staff sometimes refuse to take to-go orders. Watching 5000 year old owner follow 2000 year old staff around is fun to watch while waiting for your to go order. WE all know dinner and a show. Here we have DINER and a show!

Horrible service!!!!!! I found plastic in my food the guy running the register didnt even care. They didnt even comp anything off the bill. The waitress who was blonde and had a nose ring sucked as waitress. The whole experience was horrible.

Food specials are incredible and they offer a variety for all. The daily vegetables change daily and are not basic or boring. Very creative ideas. Friday has the best mac and cheese. Ask for Hip who is an amazing waiter.

Terrible service..I came here for breakfast..waited over half hour for 2 eggs over easy and place wasnt even packed.. waitress couldnt care less..food was horrible....rather go down the block to colony...
