If I could give this place no stars I would. If you are a young black adult be prepared to be profiled the minute you walk through the door. My entire experience was extremely uncomfortable from star to finish: my friends and I were watched during the entire duration of our meal, our overall dinning experience was very very rushed almost as if they were rushing to get us out, and finally upon leaving and paying with a card the man at the front desk said NOT A SINGLE WORD during the entire transaction. Finally upon paying our bill, he muttered under his breath that we did not leave a tip for the server, to which i politely informed him that the tip was waiting for the waitress on the table (which may I add was true). I wouldnt be so aggravated if the food was even worth the disgusting environment, but it was simply "ok." A bit disappointed that a town so close to home is still so negatively impacted with folks who look down upon those of a certain race / age group. We were genuinely treated like outcasts, i will never dine at this want to be bougee establishment again, what a joke.

I dinned here tonight with a couple of my young friends of color. Immediately upon entering the establishment the atmosphere changed. We received immediate service and was under the impression that the customer service at the restaurant was great. However, we quickly found out that the speedy service was an attempt to expedite our visit. Because clearly we were not wanted. We were constantly harassed by our server and watched by diner staff throughout the duration of our visit. As the bill arrived and we went up to the counter to pay. The staff member at the register did not greet us nor did he ask us about our meal or give us any normal, expected pleasantries. Upon leaving the diner the same staff member who closed out bill, made a remark about there being no tip on the receipt. However we left a respectable tip, in cash, on the table. The overall experience was unprofessional, uncomfortable and ultimately rude and disgraceful. And I will never return to this establishment. And will be informing everyone I know to do the same. The food was mediocre at best!

Not what it used to be.......Have been going here for over 10 years and it has always been one of my favorite diners. However, since the latest renovation a couple of years ago, it simply isnt the same anymore. Let me start by saying the waitstaff is incredible as always. However, that is the only great thing left about this diner. The latest renovation has created an atmosphere of a high-end ultra-lounge. Dont know why they did that since they are a diner and not a restaurant. The prior art deco theme was fine and suitable for a diner. The prices seemed to have jumped up since the renovation as well and the portions have shrunk (do they actually think they are a restaurant?). The quality of the food has also declined: adequate at best. Have tried to give them the benefit of the doubt many times since the renovation, but cannot do that anymore. Sorry to say I will not be returning to the Colony.

Excellent food, & service..As one of the other reviews stated the prices are a bit high.. but you are getting all foods made from scratch... Thats important! Many years ago, I brought my beloved mamma, who was a great home cook..& she used to bake a lot of bread baking, cookies, savavery pies from scratch tomato sauce .. mamma didnt want me to spend money..So she had a light meal, soup & framers & the waitress was so wonderful with mamma, she brought over an assortment of there own baked breads..And she even gave mamma a dodgy bag of the breads!! Talk about EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE...MAKE US FEEL LIKE QUEENS!!! By the way, this was shortly after it was redecorated , many years ago. But that experience still holds true today!!

I just got back from Colony Diner and I wont lie, the food was good. However, the service was terrible. The diner prices are as high as any other family restaurant. The servers are just standing around talking to eachother and not going over to any table to ask if anybody needs anything. During the course of my meal, i required re-fill on my drink and my servant did not come over not even once to see if I needed anything. In the end, he just came and gave me the check without even asking me if i needed anything else. I was actually in the mood for dessert and he did not even offer. Bottom line, food is ok, but prices are high and service is bad.

What the hell happened?..... last time I was there the portion on my plate was less than half of what it used to be......when I ordered the fish sandwich deluxe and the size of the fish I got I swear was the size of half a dollar bill on a bun.....it used to be two full flounder or cod huge fillet..... full thick pieces hardly any fries either...very small amount....it was so bad I said something when we left... something along the line of how hard times are today or sumpton like that...later for that place....Ill starve.....so..i ask again ......what the hell?....another place go bye bye....kirk out.

Service is very good here, and the menu choices are good, as well as delicious. The mashed potatoes here are the real deal and should not be missed. Youll taste the butter in the mixed vegetables or string beans - one of the few diners youll find with truly great side dishes as well as main dishes. Terrific seafood dishes, like shrimp scampi that tastes like shrimp and isnt rubbery, sole that is wonderful, scallops that are delicious. I hesitate to rate a diner as a 5 because I reserve that for high-end food, but if I were ranking only diners, they would definitely score a 5.

The food was typical diner fare. I had an omelette which was cooked as one would expect. Home fries were crispy on top and soft underneath, also as they should be. My issue was with the waitstaff. While my waiter was efficient and pleasant, I got to listen to a waitress complain, swear (lots of f-bombs) and generally complain about her job, ownership, lack of tips, the lack of business on Sunday, blah blah blah. Maybe she was having a bad day, but take that stuff in the back. None of the waitstaff she was conversing with seemed to mind the conversation either.

I went there a couple of weeks ago with my son, sister and brother in law. The waitstaff is awesome!! Courteous and friendly. It was pretty late, so I ordered the matzo ball soup and a tuna sandwich. I couldnt believe the size of the soup! It literally is a meal in itself....and it tasted wonderful. When my sandwich came, I had to have them pack it up for me because I didnt have room left to eat another bite. My family loved their food. Unfortunately, I live in PA. and I dont visit there often, but when I do I will make it my business to go back again.

A terrible experience not particularly for the food which was average but for the treatment meted by the staff including the manger. We were completely ignored from the time we entered the diner by the staff until on our way out. We are stared at and not greeted unlike other customers which I am presuming was due to our appearance being a proud Sikh family from India. The manager shamelessly looked at us and turned himself away while he continued to greet other customers. Never again and will extend my feigns about the diner to others.
