Skip the entrees & stick w/appetizers! The sauteed shrimp with black bean cake is great. I highly recommend that and the gnocchi as your starters. The complimentary appetizer (crostini w/tomato and shrimp) was not as successful. We did wait a bit for the menus. I think the waitstaff was understaffed, but it was a Tuesday and perhaps they did not expect to be as busy. Kristen, our waitress, wasnt very effective at making recommendations or sounding enthusiastic. I was a bit disappointed with the entrees. We had the lobster special and rack of lamb. I felt that the lobster was a bit dry. My boyfriend did not care the lobster claws and didnt really enjoy them. The crab meat under the lobster wasnt that impressive either. The mash potatoes were a bit dry and amateurish. The rack of lamb was cooked well but I just found that for the price being charged, the entrees should have been the stars of t he show, instead the appetizers were more creative and much tastier. The red velvet dessert was less than average. Ive had tastier red velvet cheesecakes and cupcakes and found the raspberry sauce to be too tart and distracting. The cream cheese frosting was subtle in flavor. Overall the food is good but I do believe the prices are a bit steep for the creativity and taste this restaurant offers.

We spent the week end in Spring Lake to celebrate our 20th anniversary and arrived 10 minutes late for our reservation at Whispers. The owner of the restaurant was arrogant, rude and scolding and punished us for our tardiness by sitting us at a table other than the one we had reserved. The food was just okay and overpriced. The atmosphere was a bit tired. This precious approach to food is becoming unfashionable and this with the attitude of the proprietor conspired to create an unpleasant experience when it should have been exceptional and festive. We will not be returning.

Very nice atmosphere great service and a place off the beaten path also attached to a B&B across from the lake and a block from the beach always an experience going there the chef always tries to make sure that there is something unusual on the menu that tastes amazing cant wait to go back and see the wait staff they make you feel like family

Visit Whispers annually, have always found the food and service to be of the highest quality. A recent change in Chefs has not had any impact on the food quality. Service was still excellent but not with the same charm as the previous gentlmen who worked there. The decor and setting are also a big part of this dining experience.

Whispers provided the perfect setting for our celebration, a quiet & quaint atmosphere, even with a full dining room. All courses were done to perfection & served by a highly skilled & professional staff. Weve been celebrating special events at Whispers for the past 6-7 years and we will continue to do so!

the food at this establishment is as fine as any prepared anywhere in this country- san francisco, nyc, new orleans- and anywhere in the world! the chef is top notch! and it is a byob! i have celebrated some of my happiest occasions at whispers and have always left thrilled!

What a wonderful upscale restaurant!! Dinners - scallops and tuna - were fantastic. Services was great. No liquor license so bring your own. Seating for about 40 so make a reservations! Very nice evening!!

We where very excited to go to this restaurant ant for our grandmas 70th birthday...As soon as we arrived at the restaurant they started giving us shade. Horrible service and very unreliable. Dont recommend.
