Went tonight for my Birthday...Bad Idea... This place has replaced their Chef. The new Chef cooks everything with a Bar-B-Que flavor (beans, Queso, Carne Tacos, and so on) nothing is authentic Mexican food anymore. Even the restaurant is changed inside. It went from a Mexican feal to Jazz music and everything is served on New York style fancy restaurant plates. They have also changed the prices to reflect a New York style fancy restaurant(2 kids plates/2 adult taco plates, 3 beers, $70 without the tip). To top it off, the food did not meet the standard of what you would expect from a $70 meal, they ditched the kids menu and now it is just word of mouth. Not kid friendly anymore. Plus the menu is now smaller, as in way less choices. Last but not least, I could probably write another paragraph on how the staff never realy came back to fill drinks, or ask if we needed anything, and the list goes on and on. But, what do I know, there was two other people in the entire restaurant and the 15 people working at the time must of been helping them. We will never return to this place again.

Waiter accidentally pour a drink down your back? Dont expect an apology. Bring a table of 25? Dont expect two waiters. Or drink refills. Or extra napkins. Order a medium rare burger? Hope you like a hockey puck. Extra crispy french fries? How about some mashed potatoes instead. Service with a smile? Not with Marissa as your waiter. Thank goodness she was just running our food and not waiting on our table. Feel bad I couldnt leave her no tip and a note to explain that maybe in the service industry, she might want to take a few classes on "service." Oh, and let the owner know about the trouble? Laughable to expect that he cared. Weve been bringing our group once a month for 4 years. Never has service been so atrocious. And never in all my life have I ever encountered management who couldve cared less. Good thing theres a steakhouse right next door.

Just returned to what was a favorite restaurant for my Birthday dinner..big mistake. New decor is nice but the food has tanked. New menu is less food, drowned in cheese for more money. No more side choices (unless you wish to fork over 4 or more bucks) just one "family style" small plate of rice and poor quality refried beans. All the food seems like it is cooked in a bucket and ladled out. Forget the fajitas, 1/4 the size and more like a cheese soup...yuck. Dont waste your money and gone is the kid friendly atmosphere. I would have scolded the manager but oops...no manager to be seen. Why? Shouldnt he/she be there to make sure the new menu is pleasing?. I felt bad for our waitress who was also new so had no idea about what was or what food might compare to the old (far better) menu. Get rid of the chef.

Our family of 4 visited on Sunday, May 20th. We were first time customers and will not return. We were heading home from Six Flags, driving by... and should have kept driving. Our server, Ryan, was good. He should not be held accountable for the poor food quality and poor beverages. The quality of the food was barely edible and very disappointing. The price of the food was fair for the choices on the menu, however, the food quality, appearance and overall taste did not compare to what appeared on the menu. The atmosphere/decor was run-down, outdated and appeared dirty and dusty. If youre looking for American Tex-Mex visit Jose Tejas in Woodbridge and/or Fairfield, New Jersey locations you will absolutely love it.

This was one of the worst dining experiences of my life. My wife and I went here after shopping for a decent meal. The waitress was extremely rude. I ordered soup and fish tacos, my wife ordered chicken burrito. The soup was brought out the same time as my meal. When I mentioned it to the waitress she couldnt care less. She offered to take my tacos and keep them warm until I was done with the soup. Which i refused since the rest of the food was out. She forgot silverware for my wife and never came back to check on us. Our food was cold anyway. I had to walk down stairs to find a manager to explain the issues. We didnt pay for the any of meal. The food smelled terrible too. Do your self a favor and avoid this place

Es Condidos just made their demise imminent. They changed their decor which is nice, but I am not eating the decor. What they did do was change their menu and style in which they cook. Now the food wasnt bad, but it moved further from authentic. The menu shrunk and many of the dishes we came here for are gone. Nothing seems like its cooked fresh. They couldnt separate chicken from cheese, or remove onions from a food selection. It almost seemed as if everything was previously prepared and that they only heat the food up to server it. We used to come here all the time but dont think we will return unless they revert. The table next to us had the same issues. If it isnt broke, then why try and fix it.

Used to LOVE the old Esconidos, but they changed it earlier this year (not for the better). Everything now is WAY overpriced. Our waiter came up to us and after taking our drink order, almost as a quick afterthought before walking away, said "Oh want me to get you some chips & guac?", with a nod of his head. Chips had always been free here before, so we said sure. Wrong! When we got our bill, those "free" chips were now $7!!! They tossed out the old margarita menu, which was what we loved & replaced it with a single, fancier fruity margarita. Not as good. Less alcohol & more expensive. Until they bring back the old Esconidos, I wont be going back again.

Food wasnt spiced at all, prices were high for what we ordered and service was awful!! The waiter came to take our meal orders promptly including drinks. We waited more than 15 minutes with nothing on the table, then our dinner orders suddenly arrived. Our waiter came with drinks and chips while we were trying to decide if it was actually our dinner order (which it was), so we ended up with margaritas, chips and dinner all at the same time. I like to have appetizers and drinks before dinner to work up an appetite. The food wasnt tasty, no Mexican flavor. Waiter was apologetic, said there was a large drinks order which slowed down ours.

As of the beginning of March 2013, they decimated the menu. Gone are the Pocco Pollo, Ultimate Quesedillas, Chimichangas and many other dishes. Gone are the great margaritas that are now replaced with fresh fruit juice margaritas which were served in what looked like a bud vase and tasted horrible. They have a new chef who touts himself as the sous chef to Chef Ramsay. It is too bad as they had a real good thing going. Great food and drinks before March 1, 2013 but alas, not any more. Bring back the old menu and we will return. Jenn, our server and the bartender, was always prompt and courteous.

What a disappointment! If you are vegetarian stay away from this place! They do not understand what is vegetarian and do not respect it. When we were seated we made it clear to Waitress that we are vegetarians. The Salad we ordered came with chicken and we asked to change it. All they did was remove pieces of chicken from it and served it back with few pieces left. The manager came and apologized and took off the salad from check! I have been a regular customer here and this is my last time here. Stay away! There are lot better choices in Freehold/Marlboro area
