I only came here for a place to study and order a cup of coffee. When I walked in the door, I realized this wasnt the typical place to do that, but I didnt want to just walk out; turns out the waitress was very gracious and was fine with me hanging out for a while to sip on some of their Roasterie coffee. While all I had was coffee, the food smelled delicious and I would like to be back for dinner sometime! The interior is a very cool aesthetic. The music was fantastic, too. Didnt hear a single song Id ever heard before I walked in, and thats the way I like it. The music was also the perfect volume; it was in the foreground if you wanted it to be, but otherwise totally not distracting. I also noticed the waitress cleaning off the menus casually during some of her downtime, which is a detail I certainly appreciate. And once again, the waitress was very kind and hospitable to someone just wanting a place to get off the street to focus. Didnt neglect me at all, but simultaneously tried to give me space to focus. Looking forward to a return trip with friends, of the opportunity arises!

Most of the reviews for this restaurant are too generous. The food is good, but the menu needs quite a bit of development (more ingredients and dishes). Also, the mimosas are the smallest youll ever encounter. I ordered a bloody mary and it was significantly larger than my friends mimosa. Thats definitely a glaring inconsistency. Still, the drinks are made well. The Irished Coffee is delicious. Try the Crepe Madame. Certain complimentary drinks (mimosa, bellini, bloody mary, coffee) are provided with the order of a brunch entree. They did that right. Lastly, no cloth napkins. They really need those. No one wants to spread a small paper napkin over their lap when eating biscuits and gravy. Bad idea.

What a great experience. Was in Kansas city on a business trip with a buddy. Great environment, very comfortable. Service is great, not fast, but comfortable, leaving space for conversation. Just not an in and out kind of place. We had appetizer muscles with blue cheese, spinach was a brilliant addition. Petite filet was fantastic, appropriate portions of meat and potatoes, lots of asparagus, a refreshing change from many restaurants. My buddy said the scallops were good. Waiter was friendly and helpful. Just a nearly perfect place for dinner with friends. Would love to take my wife to this restaurant. Our cost was $25 a head, but you could easily eat here for 18 to 20. Overall great experience.

Ive been here a lot and the food is always great. Seriously, its always great. I love their happy hour food specials and their brunch is a great value. The staff is always friendly and I dont think my order has ever been messed up. The owner is always there and talking to customers, however, he has literally never talked to me or my table. Its weird. Maybe he has favorites and doesnt care to talk to anyone else. Also, I ordered a side of asparagus and got 6 skinny spears for $4.00. Really good asparagus, but an absurd price for what I got. I really hope they work on those aspects and Ill keep going back as long as the food is good!

Way to ruin 2 steaks Westport Cafe. Asked for medium rare and got ruined (medium well) and slightly ruined (medium). Fair enough. You cant cook beef. But dont then proceed to tell your customer they dont know anything about how a medium rare steak should be prepared. As if customers walking in your door have never had food before let alone steak. Yes. I have had many great steaks from many great steak houses here in Kansas City. So suddenly you are telling me you know steak better than any and all of them? Better than the best chefs and grill masters in the city? No. You didnt make the steaks right and tried to insult the customer.

BEWARE: FOOD POISONING! After eating here I became violently ill. I had the scallops which had been mishandled or were tainted. I reached out to the restaurant but they did not seem to care. I also made reservations at 8 (several days in advance) and when we showed up they had no room for us. We had to wait outside for 20 minutes before they could even seat us. I was looking forward to eating here after all the great reviews, but after getting sick and then being ignored by the restaurant upon notifying them I am very disappointed.

This is my favorite late night spot in the entire city. The reverse happy hour deals are incredible. The staff (especially the bartenders) are incredibly well-versed. The atmosphere is that of a Parisian cafe. One small, dimly lit bar that seats about 10 guests and a smattering of 2 to 4 person tables provides a cozy, intimate environment perfect for a date night or just grabbing an exceptionally well-made cocktail after a long day. I highly recommend ordering the mussels.

This was our choice this year for KC Restaurant Week, and we were not disappointed. I love Westport Cafe for brunch and lunch, but had not been there before this for dinner. The weather was bad, so the restaurant was not crowded. Very good cocktails, all the food was delicious, and our waitress was very friendly. Definitely recommend the steak frites (excellent Béarnaise).

My favorite cafe. It is cozy, elegant, and sweet. I think it would be a great place for a romantic date. The food is also very good, and the late night happy hour (10pm - close) and super late night kitchen is a plus. Come here when youre craving a full meal after normal closing hours, or if you want a retreat at the end of the day.

Excellent service. We had a group of 12 people and to everyone loved their food. Prices are a STEAL deal for upscale quality food. We had brunch and everyone was happy with the quality and quantity of food. Clean restrooms, lovely subway tile and brick in the eating area.

Very disappointed. Made a large reservation for important family event over a month in advance and days before they have no record of reservation. Spoke to owner and he was unapologetic and didnt try to accommodate. No way to treat clientele. Bad business.

Great little spot. We came here one night. Just wanted to check the it out. I didnt try the food but the coffee was amazing. Asked them to put in some Jamison and Baileys. So good. Cool group of people there.

We waited an hour for our food and it wasnt busy. Other tables near us were served bread and checked on, while we were unattended. The food was very good but not impressed with the quality of service.

This restaurant is wonderful--interesting choices and authentic fare. Their cheese plate is absolutely amazing! I went there for the first time with a Groupon and am now a Sunday brunch regular.

Great spot for a date, good food, great drinks and top notch atmosphere. Also good for brunch and very cool that you can actually get a full menu of high quality food late at night.

magic place. I feel like they deserve a different name, so you know the quality of experience youre going to get, way better than what default Westport is. Sunday Brunch is awesome

Delightful. The food was quite good. The atmosphere could have been better. And the chairs felt like they would collapse at any moment. But get the steak frites and you wont care.
