Went there tonight with my wife. Made a reservation on a Saturday night for the hibachi grill. Wife wanted to sit at a booth and order sushi and hibachi. They asked if we were sure as the price of the performance is included in the hibachi price. We were cool with that. Got the chicken hibachi. The chicken was slightly overcooked but still very good. We got all the sauces we asked for along with our sushi for no charge! ! Teriyaki. Ponsu. Sure, no problem. My wife really likes the ginger house dressing as a dip for her sushi. All no charge. The sushi was delicious. Got sashimi mackerel, salmon and bonito. California roll, futomaki, Rainbow (creamy and very large! !), crunch roll, Philly roll, double crunch roll, Nick roll. All the sushi tasted fresh and was generous portion sizes. We ended the night with a mochi cake and I cant say enough good things about that, it was small and expensive for the size (golf ball size $3) but the perfect refreshing dessert ender for a special evening even though we felt full after eating less than half of what was listed. I recommend the mango and ask for a side of whipped cream to go with it! ! HIROMI was our waitress and was amazing. Professional, friendly, there exactly when we didnt even know we needed her. Extremely attentive and an overall delight! ! All told it added up to $137.00 with all that and 2 soft drinks, and a 10 oz sake.... Well worth it! ! I love how quaint, clean and very relaxing ambiance. Hibachi grill wasnt loud enough to drown out a relaxing atmosphere in the rest of the dining areas. They also appeared to have a Japanese party room reminiscent of party rooms Ive seen in Japan. Very impressed with this gem in Columbia. Its not on a main drag and sort of tucked away making it even cooler. Ive been here twice and loved it both times.

After reading all the reviews about Osaka, and being new to Columbia, I went to Osaka with hopes of great sushi. I have had sushi all over the United States and also in Japan on multiple trips. The atmosphere is like going to a cheap Chinese take-out restaurant that hasnt been updated in 15+ years. Since the feel of the restaurant was such a let down, we thought the sushi must be great since people rave about it so much. That was not the case. First, the sushi is not even close to fresh, seemed more then a few days old. Second, all the dishware is plastic - something I would expect to only find at a kids restaurant - which greatly reduced the experience of eating sushi. Sushi is an experience, not just a food, and Osaka doesnt have any part of the experience nor the quality of food to be thought of as a good sushi restaurant. I will never go back nor would I recommend anyone go here for sushi.

Went there today with my boyfriend. Had chicken teryaki which was okay. My boyfriends course was lacking in any taste whatsoever. Tinas review claims they use real crab in their sushi, but most of the sushi rolls on their menu specifically list imitation Krab as an ingredient. The California roll I ordered may have been with real crab (menu didnt specify it was imitation), but the texture was too strange. It was like the texture of canned tuna. Ive had a lot of sushi, but have never had that texture in a roll. Overall, the sushi was surprisingly bland. Also, the sushi rolls were unnusually enormous and very hard to eat. We spent a lot of money and left disappointed. On the bright side, the service was good. Always had plenty to drink and the server was nice. Would not recommend.

My mother and I had a wonderful experience here! We ordered the Teriyaki Chicken dinner and the crunch roll. The fish in the sushi roll was amazingly fresh. I also ordered white tuna sushi on the side which was quite fresh as well. Our server was very nice and polite. The teriyaki dinner came with miso soup and a salad. Both which we loved. The sushi chef was a lot of fun and chatted with us as we enjoyed our meal. Everyone was very nice and we loved the friendly atmosphere. Definitely recommending this place to friends, and we will definitely be eating here again!!

Osaka was a disappointment to us. We had eaten at Ohana in Springfield , which was wonderful...But Osaka did not compare at all..The food was passable...but we left with a kind of burnt taste in our mouth that wouldnt go away..The waiter was excellent, but the cook spent all of his time talking to a friend that happened to be dining also...We were bored, and just tried to concentrate on the meal, but we had gone there for the full experience of a by the grill dinner...we could have gone to Hu-Hot and spent half the money and got a much nicer experience.

As a first-timer, I thought the warm washcloths and little bowls of bean sprouts were nice touches. Staff were attentive. I got the Gyoza which was good, miso soup was OK (Ive had better at Zen Thai/Japanese in Chesterfield), and the Nabeyaki Udon was a mess of ingredients thrown in some very hot water. I was expecting it to be like in an egg drop soup, but there was just basically a hard boiled egg in the water. It had little flavor, too. Others in my group liked the sushi and teriyaki chicken, but Im not a sushi fan at any restaurant.

I have to give Osaka a 5 simply because their sushi is the cheapest in town, while also still managing to (in my opinion) be some of the best. Bear in mind that I am not comparing sushi in the middle of Missouri to that of more littoral environs. The environment is totally unpretentious and the Matcha green tea is a bargain at the low, low price of complimentary. No, it does not look like a posh night-club, and the hip factor is basically non-existent, but if you were simply looking for good, cheap sushi, then Osaka is the right place.

I have been going to Osaka for a very long time and it still remains my favorite Japanese in Columbia. It is very much a family run operation and Jenny (the owner) is wonderful. The food is very good IMO and I have eaten Sushi from coast to coast and then some. If you are concerned about service ask for Nick - he is an amazing server and an interesting person as well. One of the main reasons I like Osaka is their philosophy - even the "cheap" california rolls have real crab - not imitation. It is a matter of pride for them.

This place is absolutely awful. We tried to eat there TWICE today. Entered around 2:30PM and were told they were closed for lunch, yet the doors were open. So we left. Came back around 7:30PM. Finally tracked someone down to get seated. No waiter came. Flagged another person down to get drinks and order. Then the food NEVER CAME! We sat there for 40 minutes waiting. I will NEVER go back. Place is complete garbage. Service is atrocious. Find another place to dine, reader!
