I had gotten my wedding cake done here. I had initially gone with someone else, though it didnt work out, so this was my backup. I had a very specific cake in mind. I wanted lace detailing and after seeing some of their sample work, felt satisfied enough to go through with this bakery. When I was at my consultation, I was told that what I had in mind couldnt be done with their limited resources (lace detailing) so they could do hand-made lace detailing instead. I agreed and discussed in detail how I wanted each layer and what I wanted inside. I explained that I wanted the bottom layer yellow cake so that when I cut in, it looks like traditional cake (unlike the Oreo layer above for my husband). When the cake actually arrived, it was a bit crooked which was disappointing. I had asked for matching cupcakes to give to my bridesmaids, and by the time those reached the hall - all but 2 were smashed / ruined. They apparently did not package them very well. I got over it. When it came time for me to actually cut the cake, surprise! The bottom layer of the cake was my husbands Oreo flavor! They switched the layers around. Completely ruining my cake cutting experience and the professional pictures that I will not own forever displaying the wrong cake. I was so disappointed. Of course when I did call and complain about the ordeal later, they offered me a compensation for their error. But a person usually only gets married once, I wish I found a better place to get my wedding cake done. Honestly Ive had better cake, it has a store-bought taste, not that great and the presentation didnt wow me. For the price I paid, I could have gotten so much better. I wouldnt recommend it to any bride! If youre looking for cake for an event besides a wedding, this might be the place to go.

Special ordered a cake for babys 1st birthday with specific request for the location where I wanted "Happy Birthday" written. Picked a design on their website, and surprisingly the cake I ordered was the 1st cake pictured. Recieved a vmail msg 2hr before closing the day before pickup that they couldnt complete my order because they did not have the proper decorations (as advertised!) and offered a different option. My luck, by the time I check my vmail they were closed. Due to the late notice, my husband suggested we still show up at pickup time.... (I disagreed bc they didnt deserve my money). We go to pickup and cake was completed as pictured... (Why was there a call the cake couldnt be completed and why no call that it was completed??? This business is seriously unorganized and unprofessional). The color was completely off and "Happy Birthday" was written in the wrong place! I was not compensated for troubles and will never order another cake from them again! The quality of the service was extremely poor, and the quality of the cake was poor also, it was heavey and much too dry. Overall, an "F" rated experience. Only reason why we purchased the cake was due to time constraints. I do not recommend ordering from this bakery, unless you want unknown changes made to your order and utter disappointment.

We heard of Dorothy Ann Bakery from a friend and my fiancé and I decided to check it out for our wedding cake vendor about two months ago. We had 2 cake tasting/ordering appointments and I was able to design my own cake with the help of the staff at Dorothy Ann. They were very accommodating in helping me pick what would work best with my ideas, and it was a very quick and easy process. They delivered my cake for a $60 delivery charge and also had cake stands we could rent if we wanted to. Our cake was absolutely amazing and delicious. Many people said it was the best wedding cake theyd ever had. We had 3 different options: marble, chocolate and almond raspberry. We got a lot of complements on the almond raspberry and the chocolate. We decided to go with sheet cakes that had filling and were cut like wedding cake as our actual 3 tiered wedding cake only served 65 people. I personally would HIGHLY recommend the filled chocolate cake. It was delicious and I have not one regret in choosing Dorothy Ann Bakery to be my wedding cake vendor. Upon meeting the staff, they are a little less friendly and more to the point than some other wedding vendors, but their cake is top-notch. Definitely check them out!

We had been in contact with the owner Steve on three different occasions. He seemed very enthusiastic and excited to make this experience memorable. Steve drew us out a picture of what our cupcake display would look like- it was beautiful. Turns out he was full of bologna. When I got to my reception, filled with 350 guests, I went to see my beautiful cupcake display. Boy, was I disappointed. I went and asked my caterer (who was not related to Dorothy Anns) if he knew where the rest of my cupcakes and my 300 tartlets were. He (stressed out himself) said that Steve forgot his platters to hold the rest of my cupcakes and tartlets, and left it to my caterer to help him. My caterer was busy as it was, and was unable to tend to Steves job. Next, Steve arranged to pick up the one display the next morning. He was no where to be found. My family had to drive all the way back to our reception hall to dissemble the piece and bring it back to the store. At the store, I expressed my disappointment. The girl working had me write Steve a letter of concern. To this day, I still have not heard an apology from Steve. He cashed my check and ran.

Looking for a professional and beautiful cake? Dont go to Dorothy Anns. We ordered a wedding cake from Dorothy Ann for a January wedding (not a busy time of year as far as wedding cakes go so you would think that they would have more than 10 minutes to put into decorating each cake). We asked for a snowflake design and I must say, it was completely unprofessional looking and very sloppy. The snowflakes were so childlike that I wish I would have had the time to just make my own cake because at least it would have looked like an effort was made. It was so diappointing to see my wedding cake for the first time before pictures and think to myself "really?!?! thats what I paid for?. The cake however did taste great! I would not recommend purchasing a decorated cake from Dorothy Ann. They can bake tasty cakes.... too bad the asthetics fall so far short....

We called ahead to try Dorothy Ann in Woodbury for a Wedding cake/cupcake tasting. We arrived 10 minutes early, as our appointment was at 1:00pm Saturday November 22nd. They asked us to take a seat anywhere so we found an empty table (Not Clean). About 10 minutes later we sat down someone dropped off a plate with two pieces of cake one marble and one chocolate tasted days old, defiantly not fresh! They left the plate and left our table immediately. We tried the crappy cake they brought us then about 20 minutes later Joan decided to come to our table. She didn’t care she was 20 minutes late to our appointment, and she left three times while talking to us! My fiance was ready to leave. I am letting all Brides and Grooms know this establishment is not what you want for your wedding! Were still looking for a decent bakery. Good Luck!
