Guys, guys! Listen up! This is the best Indian food Ive had in the Boston area! Yup! We came in on a Saturday night, and the $3 house margs got us feeling just right. Its obviously not the most authentic thing to drink, but Im not going to judge. Sometimes some cheap citrusy alcohol is just what you need to cut the spice of saucy Indian food. Ordered the lamb vindaloo (with spice between medium and hot) and the palak paneer (hot). The spice levels were on point (at times my non-Indian face calls for milder versions than Id prefer) and the portions large (leftovers were very much enjoyed the following day). The veggie samosas had a great texture and flavor, and paired great with the sauces on the table. The prices are reasonable, and even more so if you buy the Yelp deal beforehand ($15 for $20) or use the 10% check-in offer! As an extra treat, complimentary bites of carrot cake were brought out at the end of dinner. A very tasty finishing touch. I will surely be back to savor more of your flavors, Masala!

Masala serves Indian and Nepalese cuisines. Their menu is conveniently labeled and effectively split in half between Indian dishes and Nepalese dishes. Honestly, to a person whos neither Indian or Nepalese, they seem to be quite similar. Nepalese food if anything seems to have Chinese influences in it. I ordered the Nepalese fried soy bean appetizer. It was delicious. It had some flavor I didnt quite recognize (tea?), and was addictive and crunchy. For a main course, I tried the vegetarian momo chilli, which were vegetable dumplings in a quite spicy red sauce with bell peppers and onions. Dont let the bell peppers fool you- I found this dish to be spicy enough to make my nose run, and I enjoy spicy food! Then again, Im sure any Nepalese readers out there would disagree. Service was polite and efficient.

Ive been there a couple of times now and I have mixed feelings. The first time I went, I had a great time. It was just me and another person. The food was delicious and the service was good. The second time I was here, I was with a group of 12. Understandably large groups will have longer wait times for food, but our wait was almost an hour just to get all of our appetizers. I ordered a drink which the menu did not correctly describe: a "Long Trail Pale Ale" from the menu actually was an IPA. Thats not a big deal though because I dont mind IPAs, but it is still misleading. The food was good but the lack of proper and timely service really ruined the whole event. Our group was so unhappy with the service that we ended up not ordering any entrees, in fear of the long wait.

Terrible service today. I was told on entry that there were no tables available for me and asked to sit at the already overcrowded bar. Notwithstanding that being as tall as I am I could clearly see two unoccupied tables. When I stepped around the corner the server ran in front of me and said, oh yes, those tables. There is a table. Sorry! in a flippant, insouciant, sorry-not-sorry way. Then when I asked to speak to the manager or the owner I was told that nobody was available to speak with me. I live in the neighborhood and have been a customer since Masala opened. They are frequently noted for poor, rude, or non-existent service, but this experience was the worst yet.

Our favorite Indian restaurant. Food is great, authentic (we cook Indian at home and are rather picky), and very consistent. Menu includes Tibetan items like momos, as well as Southern Indian dosas. Wine and beverage list is very adequate for a small place. They always ask about spiciness preference (mild, medium, hot) for entrees, service is always good and friendly, and they are accomodating if you have a child with you. My favorites are the momos, peshwari naan, fish malabar, and palak paneer, although I have yet to be disappointed

Absolutely amazing! I first tried this place a few years ago and it still sticks in my mind to this day. The food was top quality and full of flavor, and you definitely get your moneys worth. The portions are generous and you get a lot of meat, unlike some places which are stingy with theirs. The Nepalese/Indian style here is delicately balanced and expertly executed. The atmosphere was delightful as well and I loved the seat by the window. Overall would highly recommend.

I am tempted to put 5 stars, but Ive only ordered take out from here once. Im waiting to go to the restaurant or order again before I put 5 stars. I ordered malai kofta, vegetarian hot appetizer platter, naan, and raita. All of it was delicious. The malai kofta tasted amazing with the basmati rice with a little raita on top. I definitely recommend trying the food here, it was some of the best Indian food I have had in a while.

Love the Methi Chicken. Overall, good stuff, among the best in the metro area. I think ordering off the menu is better than the lunch buffet, which I remember more ordinary - Im dropping it from Excellent for that, and the fact that *one* time I went there I had overcooked/precooked chicken pakora.

Some of the best Indian Ive had in the Boston area! (Especially) every chicken dish Ive had has been incredibly flavorful and tender. Prices are quite affordable (~$13/plate) and its a very nice space. The friendly, welcoming and fantastic service is also worth note.

Exceptional Indian cuisine, and reasonably priced. Clean, good looking interior and excellent service/management. The weekend buffets are excellent. Try the peshwari naan, and make sure to have dessert. We will never stop coming here as long as we live in Somerville.

Not a very pretty place, but the food is great. If you ask for spicy dishes, you really get nice spicy but still flavorful food. The naan bread is great and made by themselves.

Friendly wait staff accommodated group of 11. Constant replenishment of lunch buffet items kept freshness of taste. Interesting division of Indian and Nepalese items.

The food is good but not as good as some of the places in Davis and around the area. Its also a bit cheaper though and the buffet is the only one in Teele.

Friendly staff and a very reasonable lunch-time buffet during the week with a good mix of options. Good selection of vegetarian options also.
