Dates and Olives is far from a "hole in the wall". The brick and mortar store is contemporary, spotless, and has just celebrated their one year anniversary. Their food is so *fresh and beautifully presented you almost dont want to eat it, then, when you do, you will know you are eating some of the best Mediterranean food in all of Boston; for carnivores, vegetarians, and vegans alike. *Some customers actually leave because the meat or falafel is prepared on the spot rather than have it be premade. Wait the five to ten minutes, stop expecting immediate gratification, and appreciate the albeit simple, but finer things in life. All the staff is family, they put as much love into their food as the clearly have for one another. I highly recommend everyone to come to chestnut hill to enjoy dates and olives (perhaps take a lap around the reservoir after). I read a comment stating that an employee was rude to them. I have always been greeted with warmth and kindness. Simply an absolutely amazing foodie experience head to toe.

The chicken is always tender and seasoned well, the hummus is perfect, and there are plenty of gluten-free options. My favorite is a salad bowl in the warmer months, and a rice bowl in the cooler months. There are plenty of toppings to choose from, but it was here I tried muhamara the first time. Its a mix of red pepper, walnuts, pomegranate and spices; I get it every single time. Same with the babbaganoush, which isnt pureed as it is most often, but decent chunks of eggplant and its my favorite babbaganoush Ive tried. The only thing that is a miss is there used to be raw tomato, cucumber and radish which worked well on the salad, but they arent offered anymore. They have Sunday brunch too, which the owner is slowly expanding. Back when I was still eating wheat, I would visit frequently to get the French toast, which has a perfect amount of vanilla in the batter. If you have never had Mediterranean food before, you should try it here! There is a lot to try out, and the staff can make recommendations.

The Chipotle format brought to Mediterranean food. Build your own pita pocket, rice bowl, or salad. Vegetarian options are quite good. My favorite protein is the chicken. All the options are healthy and will leave you feeling great. Lots of the options are homemade. Very good price. Under $9 for the main entrees. Makes it the most affordable restaurants in the area. Amazing mango lassi - that the owner makes herself - in bottles at the back. If you dont eat there, at least grab one of those.

The food here is great. Every once in awhile, I get to thinking that I know something about cooking, then I find a place that proves me wrong. The variety of spices and ingredients, the way that they are used here, are beyond my vocabulary. The food is straightforward, sophisticated and subtle, all at once. The value is excellent. Its very clean. The owners are sweet people. Highly recommend. If I lived in the vicinity, Id be there all the time, but will certainly visit next time Im in Brookline.

The people are were very nice. Their falafels were the best I ever ate. Unfortunately the steak, red cabbage salad and eggplant dip were way too salty. I would think that the steak bowl probably has upwards of 2000 mgs of sodium. Too bad that such a potentially healthy meal Is actually not. I also had the faro salad, which was delicious. It too would have been better with less salt. I will try them again for falafel and humus.

My girlfriend and I had rice plates with chicken and falafel. We were pleased that the falafel were not spicy, as my girlfriend is very sensitive. All the sides were unique and delicious, and we left feeling satisfied but not stuffed. There was even room for baklava! Also enjoyed the Maine Root sodas; the blueberry one I had was awesome! The check came to around $25 - very good value!

The meat is flavorful and delicious. The pita is fresh and flaky. The toppings plentiful and creative. The juices from the sauce gradually increase the spice level in your mouth. Can somebody say "food-gasm"? To go or sit in to eat; thats the only tough question youll have to grapple with at Dates and Olives.

I liked this restaurant and the owner is so friendly. :) Their food is healthy and delicious. I triad the brown rice with chicken and different toppings. Also, I tried the mango juice, lassi! Made fresh with low-fat yougurt and no added sugar. It is so yummy! I bought some bottles home with me.

Renita Mendoca, the chef has lots of experience in the food industry. She is a magician of spices. while menu is Mediterranean she also caters Indian food and her Desi food is just divine. Highly recommended. Very clean facility and reasonable prices.

Came from out of town, the owner "renita" is the most rude person I have ever met, she started YELLING when questioned about the tea, and said "I have 20,000 customers and I dont care if someone isnt happy. meat is bland, worst experience ever.

The owner was incredibly friendly and helpful, explaining all of the options and that just about everything is made in house. I had the salad entree with spices chicken and the chicken was amazing! I could eat a whole bowl of just that chicken!

Underrated spot. Customizable bowls, great taste, large portion. The hummus is perfect--never skip on it. A tad expensive, but the freshness of the ingredients make it worth the cost.

The best. Huge portions for the price. Everything is fresh and full of flavor! The chicken is my favorite both in the pita pocket and the rice bowl. Great takeout spot.
