* Vegan Review * This is one of the best restaurants in the Boston area. I have eaten there 6 or 7 times, and its usually my best meal of the year. Menu items vary slightly based on who is cooking and what ingredients they have, but I love trying old favorites knowing I will get a new variation! As youre sitting down, ask if they can make string hoppers that day, and if so, order them right away (they take some time). Vegans! Ask for no cream or clarified butter in EACH DISH! Once my waiter knew, he was very attentive and accommodating. The chef even adapted a curry recipe for me! That being said, vegans, order dishes that are already vegan. I was a little disappointed with the flavor of the cabbage curry with the coconut milk substitution. Choose dishes that are already flavored around coconut or have no milk at all. My favorite dish I have tried is the sweet and sour eggplant salad! I would go here if thats all they served. It is incredibly flavorful and slightly different every time. I do not know if it has clarified butter or not. Kind staff and amazing chefs!! Two thumbs up, every time.

My parents were planning a teaching trip to Sri Lanka, which was canceled for medical reasons. To console them, my siblings and I decided to throw a last-minute family party, featuring Sri Lankan food. The challenge with these family events is that everyone seems to have a different dietary restriction, so how to best to feed our array of vegans, meat eaters, and lactose-intolerant people, yet have delicious and interesting food? Suvaii was up to the challenge. We called just yesterday to order up a feast for 12. Everyone was astounded by how delicious the food was. All dishes were vegan except the tikka masala. The flavors were complex and sophisticated, yet crowd-pleasing. The food was also beautiful to look at and had pleasing textures. We all took seconds, then thirds, and still had plenty of food leftover. If I could give Suvaii ten stars, I would. I particularly recommend Suvaii if you have some vegans in your crowd and want to ensure that their food is just as delicious as the meat offerings.

If youre looking for the best South Indian food in Boston, look no further than this gem of a restaurant on Massachusetts Avenue. I had the Mysore Masala Dosa while my dining companion had the Onion Rava Masala Dosa. Both were among the very best weve had in the United States, easily surpassing the quality of Saravana Bhavan in New York. The medhu vada (a deep-fried lentil doughnut) was crispy on the outside and perfectly done on the inside without being oily at all. The sambar was delectably savory and "loaded with veggies" (as my mother would say), and the coconut chutney was fresher and tastier than any Ive tasted outside of India. The service was warm, friendly, and attentive. They were extremely accommodating of my one year old son, which is always much appreciated. Run, dont walk, to Curry N Wok!

Im shocked at the high average score. Im far from an expert on Indian Cuisine, but Im pretty sure that it doesnt call for unseasoned MINUTE RICE (non-basmati at that, as if I need to specify), and ketchup dipping sauce for the samosas. The Chana Masala didnt taste bad, but was watery, lacked richness, and was not recognizable as Indian food compared to every other Indian restaurant Ive ever been to. If this place is usually 4+ stars, the only way I can explain this experience is that we used doordash and ordered late - maybe they scrambled to crank out our order last minute, but Id prefer they just let us know they were closed so we could find another place with a later closing time.

We stopped here for dinner on a hungry whim. It was a good move. The server let us know that our initial order of american indian staples like saag paneer and tikka masala was too boring and suggested we try other more authentic south indian options on the menu. We ended up with a mix of new things I had never had before as well as an order of saag paneer. The new dishes were excellent. I particularly like the coconut roti which was served with a variety of brightly colored curries. They were very accommodating of our groups dislike of cilantro and nut allergy making substitutions in dishes when needed. I really liked it and plan to return.

One of the very authentic aroma and smell of spices from Tamilnadu (Madras/Chennai) emanating from this boutique small kitchen brings back fond memories from my younger days in south india. The food is cooked with passion on South Indian and Sri Lankan style cuisine! Must eat: Aappam (white thin fermented crepe)- Goes best with mutton/goat gravy Kotthu Parrotta (interleaved bread chopped and mixed with onions, vegetables grilled with goat pieces and gravy and about 10 different spices) Dont try your regular Indian Dishes here - instead try "Puttu", "Idyappam", "Cylon Parotta" or "Aappam" with chicken or mutton gravy.

pros: Cozy place, friendly waiters, patient, excellent food (Sri Lankan) and neat restroom. The food is related to Kerala food too. Do not forget to try "Iddyappam (steamed noodles)" and also "Appam (milk crepe)" Cons: [1] Special food items (Appam, Iddyappam, etc) are not available always, changes havent been made even though it is understood that these items are in demand always. [2] Not an open kitchen, but you could request to have a look inside to check the hygienic conditions ...

At first I had some reserves about this place, the interior is not very inviting, the music is rather loud, and the dishes were unclean. Despite my initial concerns with this establishment the food does this place justice. The menu was a little tedious to navigate but the food ordered from it will not disappoint. Some of the best authentic Indian/Indochinese food the Boston area has to offer. I will be returning.

I use to like this place earlier especially for authentic food. But recently I had very bad experience with their service, when their owner was not around . Most of the customers were put in awkward situations when they totally messed up every ones order and employees started to blame each others and argue in kitchen which was so loud. So I would still give 3 star now considering earlier experiences.

Terribly long wait time. Took them about 50min to prepare a take away order. Having said that, I really enjoyed the prepared food. This is as close as you can get to authentic South Indian style cuisine. Brilliant spread!! I genuinely hope that the chefs talent doesnt go to a waste or get lost amidst a crumbling establishment. Management really needs to step up and deal with ancillary issues.

Simply phenomenal. Complex flavor thats obviously authentic. You know youre in the right place when you dont know how to eat the food in front of you. I give my strongest recommendation - if you like flavorful foods. So good it should have lines out the door. But it doesnt; Ive never had to wait to be seated. Great for take-out as well, generally keeps well.

Negative 5 stars. Chicken Tika completely filled with bones. Small pieces that looked like they would have no bones had tiny slivers that could choke someone. Bigger pieces were all bone. Completely inedible. Sent it back and second try was just as bad. I complained again and they said sorry but charged me anyway. No way I will ever go back.
