Straightforward diner food served up in an old timey diner setting. The staff is very nice and goes out of their way to get you what you want. I have a gluten free kid and they are able to accommodate his breakfast sandwich orders - they prepare the food in a different place, use GF bread and generally do not make weird faces when we ask for stuff like this. They are affiliated with Salem State College and work under their food services umbrella - so this is not just some guy running a diner. It is a quality outfit with quality people.

Out of the worst diners in Mass., this is possibly one of them. The food was bland and under cooked (runny eggs), the place was so dirty it made us nervous to eat, and service was slow even though there was only one other table occupied. The college kids dont even eat there and its right across the street! Tip: As with all eateries, if there arent any cars in the parking lot, dont eat there.

Since college, this has been my number 1 spot for breakfast. My roommates used to roll in with Sunday morning hangovers and nurse ourselves with eggs and hashbrowns. I always go for the "Big Mans Special:" eggs (anyway you want), bacon (or ham or sausage), toast, french toast (or pancakes), and hashbrowns. All for under $8.

Im not going to lie I had a bad experience here once. That being said the manager fixed it and was great about it. On my second visit everything worth perfect the food was good the quantity is great theyre very attentive five stars.

Salem Diner has decent food served with authentic charm. It’s hard to go wrong with the breakfast standards: pancakes, eggs, bacon, a bagel and coffee. Each came with a smile despite the busy breakfast crowd.

Looks kinda of scary at first. Drove past it and thought no way would I eat there. Then I Googled it and realized it was historical. No regrets. The best corn beef hash I ever had is served here.

We had lunch there a few weeks ago and it was wonderful. Make sure you get the homemade hash. Yummy
