Went there last week, 8/6/13. We went in the back door first and no one was seated in the downstairs area so we were thinking this might be a bad sign. Then we realized on the other side of the restaurant it was outdoor seating, and given it was a beautiful day thats where we sat. We were looking for simple but fresh pub food and that is what we got. I ordered fish n chips and a crabcake appetizer, while my wife opted for a bowl of clam chowder. When I ordered the crabcake I asked the waitress if it was "jumbo lump" or not, and she didnt really know but thought it was. As soon as it was served I knew it was not jumbo lump. It was okay as crab cakes go, and had it not been Boston I would say the crab cake was actually pretty good. But with the bar set so high for quality jumbo lump crab cakes in the immediate area, I am surprised they dont serve jumbo lump. If you are looking for a crab cake life experience, this probably isnt the place. That was our only disappointment though. The rest was fantastic. The fish n chips was a hearty order, and lightly breaded. I cant stand the fish when it is coated in a thick batter that retains the oil until you pierce the breading. This fish was almost crumbly, very light breading, and not greasy at all. Some of the best fish n chips Ive ever had. My wifes chowder was very good, and she is somewhat of a connoisseur of chowder so I took that as a plus. There was enough fish in the order for her to have two pieces and I was still stuffed at the end. We had a great experience and the staff were very on top of things, constantly refilling my water and soda. It was a very pleasant lunchtime experience. I will say that we stuck to the items on the menu that appeared to be their strengths and didnt venture far from that. Kind of like the rule that you dont order spaghetti in a burger bar and vice versa. So not sure how some of their other dishes might fair but what we had was great, and we will go back again.

This restaurant is centrally located in Faneuil Hall, surrounded by amazing street performers as well as plenty of shops, and is a short walk from the wharf. Based on my first visit, I loved the atmosphere inside the restaurant. Walking through open doors on a nice day and descending into the depths, almost made me think that I was entering the hull of a seaworthy vessel about to begin a wondrous seafaring adventure. The rooms were quaint and the wood paneling was an exquisite touch. I especially like the old Seaman Dining Rooms sign and the wooden fisherman. The food itself was wonderful aspect for me. I ordered the salmon BLT and thats not exactly what I got. What the menu SHOULD have said instead is: " a finely cooked salmon filet with an extremely satisfying seasoning sure to please, gently laid on bed of multi-grain (I think) bread with crispy slices of bacon and freshly sliced tomatoes and lettuce paired with a red pepper mayo and a slice of lemon for your enjoyment. *pickle slice and fries on the side." Personally, for $20, that was a steal. I enjoyed the salmon so much that I probably ate half of it without the rest of the sandwich. In fact, I believe I could happily eat that everyday for the rest of my life. With their great service and wondrous chefs, I could definitely see myself visiting again.

We were visiting from STL. Stopped in for lunch....had a really great time. Our drinks were good and hit the spot (iced tea w/ vodka & lemon and bloody marys) We had the appetizer of those stuffed shell quahogs, the mussles with the capers and parmesan( this was my favorite thing) and an order of oysters. These were more than enough to fill us both. The staff was great... no one was rude, they had a great attitude and I did have to use the restroom so I went back in and down the steps past the bar which I just thought was a really neat little area down there. Sooo today before we flew out we stopped back by for 2 crab cakes togo....yum! We ate at quite a few restaurants on our Boston trip, this was probably my favorite...enough to make me stop back by before we left. Thanks! Really good and a great memory...our server was on top of it toooo. Loved it.

My girlfriend and I went into Faneuil Hall on Sunday and wanted to eat there. The tables that were outside were very tiny, I planned on having some appetizers, oysters and some drinks along with a lunch, the extra room would have been nice. We requested one of the larger sized tables, in my opinion, a normal size table. The hostess said that they reserve those tables for 3 or more. Keep in mind, there were probably 25 open tables and 3 guests eating, talk about not accomodating! We walked out and they let us leave over a table, bad hostess and even worse manager. We went to the water and ate at Tias, it was great! As we walked by later that day, they had seated guests of 2 at the tables they said they only seat 3 or more. Id never go back there!

There are other legitimate seafood places nearby. This restaurant sits near the water, yet buys their seafood from the same place a restaurant in Kansas would - a large chain food supplier. How do I know? I asked the manager when I was disappointed with the lack of freshness of my meal. No crab in crabcakes for example, only imitation (which is fish) despite being located in a crab mecca. Outrageous. When you add the bland processed, most likely farm raised in China food to the obnoxious staff - this place becomes a must miss! The McDonalds around the corner would give the same experience at a much lower cost. I do think there are other legitimate seafood places in the same area serving local faire. Hope you can avoid our experience.

The chowder was good and so was the seafood platter with shrimp and fish. I have a big problem, however, with a restaurant that has "childrens menu available" written on every chalkboard but didnt actually "have any printed" when we visited. They shared the options with us, and shame on me for not asking for prices. My kids ordered a plain bowl of spaghetti noodles and a grilled cheese and fries. You can imagine my surprise when $.50 worth of noodles with 2 tablespoons of parmesan cheese costs $9.95. I will give the manager credit for comping them when I raised the issue of the prices and the fact that they didnt actually have the menus to read, but its pretty awful to attempt to rip parents off by over-charging for such simple food.

Went for dinner with some out of town friends. One of us had a bug in our drink, which seemed to upset the waitress. As in, she didnt think it was a big deal and rolled her eyes as she walked away. We all ordered fried shrimp and crab cakes. Instead of shrimp, we got clams. Before we could say anything she walked away. It wasnt a huge deal, we were ok to give them a try. But they were horrible. Some of them were mushy and had terrible flavor. She came back and said, "No, you ordered clams not shrimp." She did take them away and bring us the shrimp, but as she walked away she said, "I dont know whats wrong, clams are delicious. Why dont you like them?" I have never had such a rude waitress, and Im not sure I would go back.
