While the food tastes pretty good, Im sure that you can find restaurants in the area that are comparable, but with much better service. However, if you are in the mood to have your entire evening (please allow at least 3 hours) to be consumed with waiting to be seated and waiting on your food, then give this restaurant a try. Please, do not be mistaken...it is not that there are so many people in attendance that you have to wait. No, rather it is the poor estimation skills of the hostess that will ensure you are plenty hungry before you even get a table. If you are unhappy with your service, which will likely be the case, please do not voice these complaints to the manager. She will put you in the awkward position of asking YOU to decide what you want for free. Last time I checked, it is impossible to get the last 3 hours of my life back so I thought it pointless to make that request. As a result, my ticket was over $130 (clearly, I am not looking for free things or discounts) and I left the restaurant feeling as though my negative feedback was simply ignored. Consequently, I am sharing this experience with the general public in hopes that others can avoid this dining disappointment. As I read the positive reviews for the restaurant, all I can think is, "I wish that I would have gone out to eat with them because they seem to have had a much better experience than I did!" Good luck to you all. I will not be going there again.

I went here on vacation with my family, the place sounded great but unfortunately the food not so much. I bought my daughter and we both ordered lazy man lobster. It was horrible it was not the lazy man lobster you would typically have a seafood restaurant this had bread crumbs. They lobster was crispy from and what we did try to eat for lobster wasnt a lot! I had one claw and pieces of lobster! The waitress also told us it would come with butternut squash which it did not.The manager came over and asked how everything was I told her and she said Im sorry can I get you free desserts we said no. We went home and looked up the menu they had a kids menu on there but did not give us one or show us they had one my daughter had to order from an adult menu and usually she would like lazy man lobster but this was labeled incorrectly should be lazy man casserole! Spent 120 on nothing only 1 meal out of 3 was eaten and all I was offered was free dessert not fair!

Service was great as were the drinks, food however was inedible. My husband ordered a pan seared steak medium rare and got a well done albeit well flavored steak. I ordered a surf and turf, with the turf request rare. They apparently ran out of rare and tried to sell me on a medium well which I declined....I ordered instead a baked scrod with bread crumbs topped with a lobster bisque sauce. Gordons frozen food would have been better or perhaps a nursing home dinner as the flavor would have been as zesty..it tasted like nothing...astronaut food maybe? paste? flour with water?? Im really not sure...the dinner with drinks ran about $90 and I would have been happier with a Filet O Fish and had more money in the bank....

Second visit here for my wife and I, we like the outdoor deck seating and watching the boats and the swing truss bridge that turns. On our first visit the service was good but the food was just average. On this visit the service was still good but the food was phenomenal! My wife had the grilled swordfish, a big thick piece perfectly cooked. I wanted shrimp and my wife pointed out the crab meat stuffed shrimp menu item. It was so very good, and plenty of it too. The drinks from the bar were excellent as well. Our server was helpful and attentive, and she was covering many tables. We have some friends that we will be bringing here next time.

Up until the last two times i was there it has been good . i had the coconut shrimp, half of the shrimp was under cooked the other half over cooked .the clam chowder usually good was horrible. Very salty and so thick u could taste the flour. Next visit which may be my last.snotty hostess. Had the lobstet salad roll the roll fell apart so i couldnt eat it and it did not taste good. Told the waitress she said. "Sorry" and that was it. I left a survey hoping to hear from someone but did not so that is why im writing this review. I had way better service and food at. I hop.

This place has the best oysters!! This was my first experience at Fathoms restaurant. As soon as we walked in we were greeted with a smile and seated right away. The manager was awesome and the food was too. We had the scallops wrapped in bacon, little necks, and clam chowder. Let me tell you, New England has the BEST clam chowder. We ordered Bloody Marys for our drinks. I recommend this place! Outdoor seating with a great view of the pier, great food, and again great service!

Went with 4 adults and a toddler. It was good, and service was okay. They missed one of the orders, but corrected it when we told them. The staff was friendly and we sat outside, so the kid could see the boats and bridge. The English fish & chips were good, and so were the regular battered fish & chips. The fishermans platter was generous and very tasty. The clam chowder was great, and the quahog was tasty. The yard outside was good for running around in. Wed go there again.

This place was packed and an hour wait (only because this is the place to go!) but the staff was kind enough to text us when our table was ready so we could sight see a little around the harbor. Food was excellent and they also had plenty of food items for my picky kids to choose from on the menu (not just seafood). Had a table on the deck and it was worth the wait. Good eat spot and will definitely stop for dinner if we come this way again! Great service, thank you!

Horrible pizza crust dry and hard my husband almost broke his tooth, my friend ordered a seafood platter one scollop, fish piece very small loaded with calamari I asked if I can not have Calamari and maybe more fish I was told no $26.00 skimpy platter so I changed my order to a burger. I asked to replace blue cheese on my burger with American I was told extra charge. Blue costs more than blue cheese go figure. Clam chowder good will not being going back

Had lunch scallop plate..delicious ..tender lightly breaded and Fresh. Kelsey, friendly bartender was gracious. Said owner has scallop boats, so they are fresh right off the boat. Told by a regular here to try the shrimp and bacon appetizer with mozzarella and basil...sounds yummy. Definitely worth a stop off while in New Bedford.

Good food....BAD SERVICE. NOT a place to take your family. Waitress was practically throwing our plates on the table. Management definitely needs to make some changes because some of the wait staff is rude. If your a couple going there you should be ok...but bring some kids along...FORGET IT. Its almost as if they shun apon it.
