First id like to say my husband and I LOVE bbq and eat it every chance we get. My husband and I went with my parents and sister for the first time to urban bbq. We arrived around 6:45 on a sat night. The place was busy but not packed. We wanted to seat at an open space outside. The hostess placed our menus on the table of our choice then walked away without saying one word. No server came within 10 min until my father asked another server to please take our drink order. Eventually our drinks showed up with our server. We immediately ordered the redneck dip or something like that. It was a very small portion that arrived 45 min later (after my husband went to go check on it) Beer took forever for refills b/c we were informed the bar was full, however no one was sitting at it. My father ended up leaving and walking to the olney ale house and having a wonderful time while the rest of us waited much longer to recieve our food which was cold. It was by far not only the worst BBQ experience i had in a long time but the worst run restaurant I have gone too. Where was the manager? Why did they let us sit at a table without recieving refills on beer and get us out in a more timely manner? They must be making so much money that they dont need to count on customer service. I did not see ONE male server serving outside on Saturday night that would ever work at a restaurant if I owned it. I love to support local businesses but this is surely one that needs to get their act together.

The food probably deserves 3-4 stars, but the service is what dragged their rating down. Ive eaten at a few Urban BBQ locations and Ive found their food to be fairly consistently good, especially the brisket, but also the pulled pork, the ribs, the chicken, and the sides. If you get a salad, the Buttermilk Ranch dressing is amazing, very garlicky and perfect for a meaty salad. However, the last time I ordered takeout from this location I did not get any brisket with my Texas Steakhouse Salad, and I had to drive all the way back to pick it up while my food (and my wife) sat at home waiting. They did apologize, but it was somewhat perfunctory. For having to wait much longer than expected to eat, and to drive there and back again, I was expecting more of an apology, but not only did they not seem overly concerned, they did not even offer a side or a dessert. Not that I needed one, but the offer would have been nice, considering I had to spend twice as much on gas for this meal than I had planned thanks to their mistake, plus our dinner was delayed. I might even have more sympathy if they were slammed, but we eat very early, and the takeout side was completely empty and the kitchen was very quiet when we picked up our order. So if you really want to order from there, eat in or check every part of your order thoroughly. I made the mistake of tipping on takeout without checking the order, I wont make that mistake with them again...if I go back.

I have now ate at Urban BBQ 2x within a week. As everyone else states the food service is really really bad. I thought it was a fluke my first visit yet the service was worse w/ my second visit. I did notice that a few of the wait staff are very timely but I yet to be served by one of them. Peanuts havent shown up after taking our seats I needed to get them on my own. I asked the waitress to give me one beer at Happy hour special since it took her 10 mins to get our drink order and I missed the 6:30 cut off by 2mins. She gave me a song and dance about how she couldnt do anything because the computer controlled the prices. I even gave the hint to have her mgr override it. No luck got charged full price. Give me a break people. . Try a little it isnt that hard. Hey MGMT listen up!!! The last place before you failed and so will you if you dont get on the ball and fix all the issues. Otherwise I will keep coming because the food is good but will continue to leave $1.00 tips with a note as to why. Then all your staff will quit and hopefully you will hire trained people.

The reason this place gets 2 stars, is because once upon a time the food used be good. And also because of one very pleasant waitress by the name of Ashley. Otherwise I would give it 1 star. Where do I start. For the past 4 visits, the wings are hard ands dry, the burger buns are cold and brittle, and eating the ribs were like chewing on a boot. I hate to see this happen, since this is one of the only BBQ places in left in the immediate area, however my family has eaten at this branch for the last time tonight. More care needs to be taken in the kitchen preparing the food. Also the bar tender is extremely unpleasant to be around and has had snarky remarks several times.

We get carryout while at work probably once a week. Every time we order it gets progressively worse. I like the beef brisket but after cutting off the hunks of fat Im left with less than half of the original order. Today the meat was completely cold. I guess some folks like hunks of fat on their meat, not me. If you ask for lean, you are told that it only comes one way. Some days its tolerable, today I would have just tossed the whole thing in the trash if I hadnt just spent $15 bucks for some cold fat. I will be looking for some other place to eat from here on. On a positive note, the barbeque sauce is amazing.

This place is starting to go downhill. They need to get a manager for their dining area real soon or else theyll end up being just another takeout only bbq location. The food is still good but the wait staff are completely inexperienced. Its nice that they hire high school kids and all, but its just not working out very well in UBQs dining room. Maybe if there were some management present, they might be able to straighten things out. This place has so much potential, but I think the new is starting to fade and everyone can see theres not much there.. My recommendation; Get it TO GO.

This place has an awesome setting. Kind of makes me feel like I did when I used to go to Hard Times Cafe in Laurel, Md. From the decor on the wall, to the bottles of BBQ sauce on the paper covered tables, this place is all around cool!! The food is delicious!!! I highly recommend Urban BBQ. The closet one to me is the Olney, Md location. But Ive been to others that are just as awesome as this one is. Plus the Olney location is the biggest one Ive been too. LOVE THIS PLACE!!!
