GREAT ....except.. A long lost girlfreind of mine wanted to catch up over some drinks and some good food. She had told me about this delicious Mexican-style restaurant that had pretty decent prices and had half price margaritas during happy hour. I was sold, and we invited a couple of mutual freinds with us. Upon arrival a perky hostess greeted us with a smile and sat us down immediately. The same hostess, greeted us again with a basket of chips and a bowl of salsa. So far so good. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. Upon ordering, I had asked that my steak for the dish I ordered be cooked medium well. Our food came out within 15 minutes of ordering- very fast! When I began to cut my steak I noticed it was not quite to my liking so when our server made her rounds back to our table, I asked her if I could speak to the manager. I told him that my steak was not quite what I wanted and it was a little dry. He proceeded to look at me with disgust, and said that "..if I wanted a well cooked steak then might as well go to steak house and not a Mexican restaurant" and then he laughed as if it was a joke....and walked away. I assumingly thought he was going into the back kitchen to get me a new steak. As my freinds ate their delicious meals, I sat in silence for 30 MINUTES. Upon giving us the check, the server asked if I wanted a box- I told her no, and said the manager never gave me the steak I asked for. She apologized and asked if I wanted the manager again, I told her "no, its fine" since all my freinds had already finished up their meals. All in all the experience was ok would have been great if the manager would have taken me more seriously.

I am vegan, and Mexican food is usually a great cuisine to indulge in without the dairy. However, when I ordered three tacos with no cheese or sour cream with grilled vegetables (an extra charge), I received 3 un-grilled, raw corn tortillas each filled with about 2 tbsp of just green peppers and onions that had been sauteed to death. I asked the waitress where the grilled vegetables were, and she said the only other vegetable they had were mushrooms. I returned the measily portion and ordered some vegetarian beans and rice with no cheese; they brought it out covered in cheese. I reordered the beans and rice, as my dining mates began to eat; the beans arrived shortly after. Great service, great atmosphere, but not vegetarian or vegan-friendly. If you list grilled veggies on your menu, you should have grilled veggies. Go to Fajita Grande instead.

As a black woman that came in for one drink after work I was not expecting that the treatment that I received would have been better. While a Hispanic group of men and a Caucasian couple were serviced highly... I had to wait over ten minutes to be greeted at the bar. When I made eye contact with the "bartender" she gave me the wait a moment finger. When she finally handled her personal business and made me my drink I never saw her again(to check on me and etc at the bar) but I what did see was a new bartender pay ATTN the Hispanic men and Caucasian couple but never even say hello to me. Needless to say, I had to find the person tht started my tab and ask for my chk. I left a powerful msg on my restaurant tab MINUS A TIP.

We went to the grand opening in February. I love Mexican food and I will eat it pretty much anywhere, (with the exception of Taco Bell... I mean, I have standards.) Los Toltecos is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Frederick. All the food is cooked fresh and it really shows. The chicken was so good and flavorful. The quacamole was excellent. The best thing I had was the dip with the cheesy sauce with shrimp and seafood in it... OMG! I could eat a vat of that stuff:) The bar is stocked and the pineapple margarita was great! Not to mention the wait staff is friendly and attentive. Five Stars!

The beers are tall and COLD! The food is good, and not overly expensive. The wait staff is usually very attentive. You can sometimes get discount cards at Costco and 20% off is a great deal. Update - 1-28-16 Service was slow. After sitting at the table for 5 minutes, I had to go to the bar to get a beer. Wi-Fi is no longer offered. The bar area is overly bright. The beer mugs are no longer frosty, though the bartender offered to out ice in it (really?). Almost every reason to come here is gone. A real shame because I LOVED this place.

We have been to Los Toltecos many times, and we have in the past, enjoyed the experience. Tonight, unfortunately, we had their absolutely worst waitress. She couldnt have been more rude if she tried. The Cadillac Margaretas are not that great to sit through her attitude. Plus, we found out that Cacique restaurant in Downtown Frederick also serves up great Cadillac Margaretas, so we will not be returning to Los Toltecos.....EVER. We would rather give our hard earned money to nice people.

Be aware of this place, I have been there 2 times...both times either the same day or next day my Credit card had been used to buy online products to the tune of $175 the first time and $634 the next time.....trust me there will be no third time....when I talked to the manager about this....all he said is he has lawyers. ....wtf....how about starting out with sorry about this...I will look into it...anything I can do.....beware of using your check card at this establishment. ..

People actually like this place? Ive given it several chances, and its been consistently disappointing—Id rate it as the least appealing Mexican in Frederick. The food is bland and underseasoned; Im pretty sure that most of it comes from cans or the freezer. The vegetarian options are few and uninspired. The service is mediocre. Theres no accounting for taste, but I have to wonder whether the reviewers who praise this place have ever actually had good Mexican food.

first time we went there we didnt like the food... but we gave it another chance and the 2nd and 3rd time the food was better.... the grilled chicken fajita is the best....the caramelized onion and peppers tasted great! food has definitely improved. wish the price was a little better too! the waitress was very kind and observant to our autistic son when she brought over a valentines day treat to make sure that it was okay to give it to him.

We came in with a large group, and the service was extremely slow due to only one server being available in our area. Our server did the best she could but the restaurant was understaffed. The queso and chips were good but the combo dinners/entrees were not the best. Bland rice and underwhelming flavor for the other parts of the meals. Decent prices, margaritas and drinks were good.

my review today is not about the restaurant or the food or the prices, although they could give a few more tortillas with fahita express, couldnt cost more than 10 cents, anyway I think its all good. but for the past 4 times I came in here the waitress made me feel like she is doing me a favor...just dont feel like they appreciate my business.
