By far the worst mexican food I have ever had. Servers and other employees are all very nice. The tamale had no seasoning or flavor. Enchiladas were super overpriced for what you get and also bland with way too much cheese and almost no sauce. Chile Rellenos (my husbands plate) were undercooked and over battered. We get chile rellenos at every Mexican place we go and Ive never had any this bad. This place needs to season their food and not rush it. The food came out so fast its no wonder it was not good. Also the queso dip was gross. It tasted like melted american cheese for $4.95. Id rather save a dollar and buy a jar of tostitos queso. Will not ever go back. Manager was nice about the food we sent back and offered us free dessert but we had both lost our appetite.

My wife and I have different tastes and just about the only type of food we both like is mexican, so we eat at a lot of mecican restaurants! El Tio is the best in the area in all categories. Food is fresh and very tasty. We usually get fajitas and they are fantastic. Service is superb and everyone there is very friendly, says hello, and even opens doors for you. There is plenty of room and we have never had to wait. Prices are good, about average for a mexican restaurant. Make sure to ask for a side of their home made hot sauce if you like some kick (I wish they sold it in bottles)

As a native Texan transplanted in Virginia, I have been seeking an authentic Tex-Mex joint for years. By happenstance, I decided to try El Tio. I almost cried in my beans and rice. The salsa, addictive; the tortilla chips,so light and crispy; the guacamole, delicious. I got the cheese enchilladas and the tomatillo sauce was delightful; my better half a chimichanga which he devoured and we both enjoyed the house margaritas. No room for dessert; however, they have all they classics including fried ice cream. We will definitely be coming back, and often...

Food was good as usual. However, our main waitress really was not good. She brought out our food in timely manner however any thing such as getting additional salsa were just plainly ignored. Weve asked very nicely at least 5 times, she would politely respond that she will get it, but never does. I had to flag down someone else (manager or another helper) and they would bring it out promptly. This caused lots of angst in our group which really affected the enjoyment. We would have to re-consider before going back again.

I dont even know where to start with El Tio.It was absolutely amazing! from the moment I walked in there were very nice people to greet me and I even improved my Spanish! I had the steak fajitas and they were very good!! We then followed up with the sopapillas and they were delicious! I would highly recommend this restaurant for families with kids or just going on a date night! Good job el Tio five stars!

Best Mexican food in Falls Church. I would even go as far as to say best Mexican food in all of NOVA!!! Service is phenomenal and incredibly friendly. Food comes out fast, always consistent and ALWAYS hot!!! Margaritas are delicious and strong. Prices are extremely reasonable. I would eat here a couple times a week if my girlfriend would agree to it. Cant wait to go back!!!

El Tio is great. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful (though not overbearing like a lot of servers can be). Prices seem to be very fair, and coupons can be easily obtained from the backs of GIANT receipts. I highly recommend getting the fajitas. So good! By far the best TexMex in the area. these guys arent redefining tex-mex or anything...but they do traditional, mexican fare perfectly. the menu includes quesadillas, tacos, enchiladas, burritos, chimichangas, queso...and the best, their margaritas. i think this goes without saying...but note that this isnt the place to come for health foods.

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. Sometimes fellow diners can be a bit loud and annoying... I blame the tasty margaritas. They have a really cool tortilla making machine, so theyre all fresh. Great spot, give it a try... They wont disappoint you. Oh, and try the guac, made at your table.

By far the best Mexican restaurant in the area. The food is exceptional and the margaritas are great. Save room for the Tres Leches; it is phenomenal. Service can be slow and inattentive when theyre busy, but overall this is a great place for hearty Mexican cuisine.

By far my favorite Tex-Mex restaurant in the area since 2009. First and foremost the food is extremely good and it is consistent every time I go. Last comment, visiting relatives want to go there before returning to their respective homes.

These two transplanted Texans were VERY happy to find El Tio! Enchiladas and steak fajitas were both excellent. Service was quick and very friendly. Watch out for the house margarita, though, if you have a low tolerance for alcohol! LOL

We brought a friend here for dinner and the food was very good. Our waitor must have been fairly new because he didnt realize part of two meals didnt come out, we had to tell him. Maybe hell learn over time.

I paid the bill with CC and gave the waitress a CASH tip. Waitress overcharged my credit card $33 after I signed the bill without adding a tip. Manager has to issue a check for the credit.

Good service but quality lacks in food. The salsa was thick chunks and watery. Chips were very thin and could not scoop the salsa. Meals were average. Service was quick and respectful.

Good texmex food. Service was OK. Prices felt a little on the high side given quality, flavor, location, and service. Ill be back, but would come regularly with a few bucks off.

We probably like this place more than any other Mexican place in the falls church area. Recommend to go on thirsty Thursdays for great discounts in margaritas.

I love this place. I recently took a california native mexican and a texan to El Tio. They both loved it, and are picky pick picky about Mexican food!

Cant believe this passes for Mexican food. No Dr pepper, coke tasted like dish water. Over priced. The only thing good is the guacamole.
