I wouldve loved to have eaten here. However, the person that we put our take-out order with told us that it would be 50 minutes to have the meal prepared. No problem, we left our order and information with the guy and headed out. We come back in 50 minutes and the guy gives us a panicked look. He runs to the back and then comes back out. He tells us that he hasnt even taken the order back and that it would be another 30 minutes. No effort to apologize, explain, etc. Just blankly stares at us with dead fish eyes like this par for the course. If this is the best that Hiko a Mon can do, then I eagerly await a new restaurant taking their spot in Westport Village. If this level of service is any indica of what to expect, then I can only recommend that all East End diners of discerning taste pass up this locale. First impressions are everything and Hiko a Mon dropped the ball.

I have been going to sushi restaurants all over Louisville for the past eight years trying to determine which Japanese sushi bar is the best. Hiko A mon, which my friends and family call Pokemon, is the greatest in Louisville. If you want delicious sushi rolls, the best house salad dressing, fun atmosphere, and to leave with your arms and legs then get out and try it for yourself! I recommend the island for dessert, the diablo if you want a light snack, the Jennifer and tornado if you want awesome-ness, and the all time best balanced roll the wesport! Hope you enjoy and go live a little at Pokemon.

Being a true sushi addict, I really wanted to like this restaurant. But out of a handful of times visiting this place, my husband and I got terrible cases of food poisoning halfway through our dinners on two separate occasions. During our last visit when my husband got violently ill, we informed the restaurant staff of the problem and they didnt even bother to discount our $60.00 dinner that was still left on the table. Needless to say Ill never go back!!

For an overall sushi/Japanese dining experience, Hiko a Mon is tops in Louisville. On a pure food basis, Id put it behind I Love Sushi and Teriyaki (whose food is better and less expensive, but is a much different experience). Weve eaten here many times and have always enjoyed it. Service is great. Try the Derby Roll if nothing else. Its wonderful. They also occasionally have rolls where a certain portion goes to a good cause (e.g. the Jennifer Roll).

I have eaten at Hiko a Mon several times and my wife and I have settled on the fact that this is our favorite place for sushi. We have always been happy with the atmosphere and have received great service everytime we go. What also helps is that this place is part of the Louisville Originals restaurants in which we earn points and therefore makes this place even better. I would highly recommend this place for sushi and my favorite wine there is the Frisk.

I hope I can find it in me to give this place another chance, but so far, being here for at least 40 minutes and the server hasnt shown her face more than once in all that time doesnt seem like the way to go for a restaurant. We have ordered almost 50 minutes ago which is the first of the two times the server has visited our table. Im hungry and cranky at this point and no food in sight.

Seriously question the food poisoning claim, as the chef/owner is one of, if not the only, Japanese running the kitchen at a Louisville Japanese restaurant. His standards are very high, and Ive enjoyed his food for 7-8 years. I have recommended Hiko to hundreds of people, dined there dozens of times, and can think of no other sushi-ya here that even tempts me.

Placed an order for dine in and some food for carry out. Carry out came out immediately but other did not at all (while others that placed after us had). They were very sweet and asked to comp our drinks but we declined. 1 mistake but it happens in that business. Food is always delicious and sometimes people make mistakes. Hope they fix the tiny glitch!

Consistently the best and most fresh sushi and AUTHENTIC Japanese menu in Louisville. Maybe the only place in town to get real soba noodles and ika yaki. Service is always great and prompt. Came here this time for my sons 8th birthday -- by his choice! They gave him a special birthday treat that was fantastic. Look forward to next time.

Delicious food and superb service. The chicken teriyaki flatbread appetizer was one of the most perfectly paired flavorings Ive ever tasted... their special Woodford reserve sauce over chicken with scallions and goat cheese ... I have dreams about it!!! We will be back soon.

I really like this place, but I just waited like 40 minutes before getting anything other than water from here. They took my order right when I sat down and probably forgot about me. It magically came out a few minutes later and wasnt very good. I should have just left.

My partner and I had dinner here last night and absolutely adored everything. We shared several appetizers, a salad, and sushi, and nothing at all disappointed. Finally--a Japanese restaurant I dont have to BEG her to go to. Great service, fantastic food. Im in love!
