PROS: Great friendly service(our server spoke Japanese and gave me a chance to practice). CONS: The Sushi, The bathroom, the price. I dont know if they were having an off night for sushi, but it was the worst sushi experience that Ive had in Grand Rapids. I dont know if this was true, but it seemed like every roll we had was not prepared fresh. The yellowtail roll is made with ground up yellowtail. It looks like shark chum. The California roll was pure mush. You couldnt taste the rice(very soggy). The Mikado rolls friend shrimp was cold(making me think it was already made and sitting in the fridge) And the Rainbow roll was also mushy. You can tell a lot about a restaurant by the bathroom and this bathroom was NASTY. I ordered a salad. Their version of a salad with Onion dress is lettuce with onion dressing on top. $3.00. Wow. The price was also high. All special rolls are >$10.

Holy.Moly. This place was one of the best sushi experiences Ive ever had. Dont let the weird mirrored windows put you off. When we walked in we got hot towels to wash our hands, amazing green tea with some brown rice brewed in it and some pickled radishes that were amazing. That brings us to dinner. Holy bad words was it delicious. Servings were about what youd expect and the prices were pretty spot on. Food was absolutely fantastic and the servers were grand. One of the waiters even talked to me about Mets baseball for about 10 minutes and knew the whole team. It was quite awesome! Every time I head to Grand Rapids you better believe that Ill be stopping here!

I had been there before and got take out without any issues. Well it was my wifes birthday and she wanted to go there for lunch so we stopped in. We got a table right away and then sat waiting for the waitress to take our order slip. A bigger table came in about 5 minutes after we did and the waitress made eye contact with me and then went and took the order from the bigger table. After she did that she left to turn their order in so we left. After waiting 15 minutes to have a piece of paper picked up we had enough. Hopefully just a one off experience but we will not go there again.

Hands down, this is the best sushi restaurant in the Grand Rapids area. You are welcomed with a warm greeting from behind the sushi bar, a hot towel (love this) and some tasty tea. The sushi is the best Ive had in Grand Rapids. It is incredibly fresh, and crafted to absolute perfection by the Taisho. If you do not have much experience with sushi, sit at the bar, and talk to the sushi chefs, they will help you choose the right sushi for you. If you are a sushi lover, they can help recommend things that you may not have tried. Trust me, this the best sushi place around here.

Having been there several times ....all was GREAT! If you want a super fancy place then go to one. If you want great service & food that is better than "Benihana" then the Mikado is for you! Their Ochinko is fantastic, Tempura is light and Delicious, Tonkatsu is tender and crunchy, and their Sukiyaki & Shobu Shobu is wonderful. How I love this place that brings back fond memories. My daughter is going to take me there on my birthday in February Ja Mata!! Frank Thomas

They have such a beautiful atmosphere and the staff is wonderful and very good at what they do. It is has a incredibly authentic interior and cuisine. Its a great and very personal/casual classy restaurant for formal or business related events. 10/10. Hands down just an amazing restaurant ran very well. Would definitely recommend to everyone!

I loved this place, but I got very sick after eating there yesterday. I had nothing to eat yesterday other than this so Im certain that is what caused it. Never had an issue with their food before this though, I just could probably never be able to stomach going back after what Ive experienced within the last 24 hours.

I went here based off the reviews and I was hoping for a decent dinner. The sushi was ok. I enjoy sushi and have had it at several locations but nothing astounding is happening here. The service was terrible. I had to ask for extra plates, silverware for the young girls and water. I would not go here again.

Fish and rolls were very good and reasonably priced. Service painfully slow or non-existent. Never asked for drink order. Never got a check until I asked for it at the register. Maybe this is the way this place works. I probably will not go back. Too many other places to try.

...describes our visit. Many of our rolls had mock crab in them, even ones that are traditionally done with eel or salmon. The service was slow. The tea was lukewarm. The bill was much higher than we expected for such poor presentation.

They should replace their florescent lighting with some other bulbs to have lighting that is not so harsh. And get rid of all those t.v s.! The sushi is very very good, and service is friendly and professional.

Some of the best sushi I had. The spicy Salmon roll was the best Ive ever had, and Ive eaten at high class sushi bars in California. The Calaforina Roll was alos excellent. Great place, good prices, good service.

The food is delicious and well presented. The wait staff was wonderful. The dining room could use some upgrades to match the quality of the dishes

They had pretty good sushi for a small town. Waiter was very nice and helpful as my son vomited all over himself.( a five year old think I guess)
