The server was pleasant and the food was fast b/c they have seemed dead the 3 times I went there. I am not one to buy the most expensive rolls, and so when I went there once and sat at the sushi bar I asked the chef about a shrimp tempura roll... which was not on the menu. They have a spot on their paper for special requests. He pointed out a roll w/ tempura shrimp in it but totally different and much more pricey. So, I explained to him what I meant... saying something like "I mean the basic shrimp tempura roll" and explained what it was like and also said "It is a roll that I tend to get when out and is usually one of the cheaper rolls". He began to laugh at me, as if he were making fun of me and totally insulted for some reason. I was very polite in my inquiry. He made me feel like an absolute idiot and I almost got up and walked out. He was SO unbelievably rude. The ONLY reason I did not walk out was b/c I was with my daughter and we had already had our soup and I did not want to cause a scene. It was very very unprofessional for him to ridicule me in my effort to explain what I was talking about. I will never go there again. The sushi was also mediocre. It was decently priced as far as the lower priced rolls go, and is convenient to the area of town I live in. I will drive the extra distance though, to somewhere like Osaka.. where their rolls are ALWAYS delicious, fast, tightly rolled and have wonderfully polite and efficient servers. Osaka, Caviar, Sapporo or Asahi are most definitely the best I have had in town... w/ fresh, well made Sushi and fast friendly service. Stay away from Sakura blue!

I feel bad having to drop my review down from 4 stars to 1. I used to go to Sakura Blue once a week or about once every other week. However, things have been slipping here recently. My last visit in particular, described below, was just the straw that broke the camels back so to speak. I came in and ordered around $40 of sushi. I had one request. No wasabi and no ginger. I wrote it on the order paper and told the waitress when she took the order. When the order came back there was ginger piled on the plate so much so that I was able to take it off and fill 2 of the little sauce dishes so it wasnt just full, but almost an inch high over the top of the bowl and then had enough still to fill a 3rd sauce dish. It was a massive pile on the plate. There was also wasabi on the dish and under the fish on the sushi itself. I didnt tip much. Normally i base the tip on just the service provided by the waitress because they cant help if something isnt quite cooked right, but this was something that if she had just looked at the dish she could have pointed it out to the chef and it could have been fixed before the dish ever got to the table. It was very very very noticeable amount of ginger in a large pile on the plate. I feel like the chef just did it to spite me, especially since he also put wasabi on the dish and under the fish. It wasnt even under all the fish just some of it like he had tried to hide it under the fish to catch me off guard.

They must have recently changed ownership. I have been here several times in the past and it has been very good service. The last 2 times it has been horrible. The service is very slow and chaotic. The most recent visit the Habachi cook was great as usual, which is why I tipped him, but the 2 waiters they had were awful. It took them 50 minutes to bring out my sushi order after bringing me the wrong salad and my friend still didnt have his. When we questioned the waiter that had tattoos all up and down his arm, the waiter snapped at him saying, " I put your order in dude, its not my problem!" When we questioned what he had said, because I couldnt imagine someone acting so rude the waiter got even more aggressive and nasty. We tried to ask for the owner and was ignored. I will never go back here again and we had visited this place once a week in the past since its was so close and convenient to our business. I work in a customer service industry. If I ever had an employee act this way towards a customer, he would be fired on the spot!

Always excellent. I have never had a bad experience here. This place deserves more credit in the public eye than it receives. Dont let the humble appearance fool you - Sakura Blue is a local treasure. I love the cozy, wooden interior. The atmosphere is calm and homey - a lovely contrast to the metal and glass modern chic of most hibachi restaurants in the area. There is something for everyone to eat at Sakura. Several varieties of sushi for the adventurous eater. Terriyaki tofu carmellized to perfection for that one vegetarian every family has. Beef tataki for the bloodiest of carnivores. Chicken and rice for those with boring, picky palettes. And a bento that has a good sampling variety for the indecisive individual. In closing, I sum this place up in one word: Itadakimasu!

Since its closer than Kobe in Indiana, my mother and I decided to make it our new Japanese restaurant. The prices were similar and so was the menu. Weve been there 3 times and 2 out of the 3 were pretty crappy experiences. The food came out cold on a few occasions. Specifically the rice and some vegetables. Service is a hit and miss. Sometimes your waiter checks on you, sometimes they dont. Wasnt impressed with the sushi either. Didnt taste very fresh and some of their basic rolls felt as if they were rolled the night before. They came out extremely fast too. You can see, wherever youre seated, the sushi bar and it was clear they werent making half the orders right there. Kobe may be further away but well be going back there for now on.

This place is great! They are super friendly and have some of the best sushi! The Thunder Over Louisville and Spider rolls are my favorite. I always try a new one each time I go and everytime Im impressed. I have never tried their hibachi but friends have said it is very good. The wait staff is smaller than most restaurants so at times it can be slow but if youre with good friends/family...whats a little time? They definitely make up for it with their willingness to help and just being plain friendly.

If I could give it any less I would. Twice in 3 months (the second time because I THOUGHT the first was a fluke) I walked in an empty restaurant at 12:15. Today only two tables and because I was alone (my treat to myself) they advised I could not sit at a table for 4 because they are reserved for the larger group. I dont like their food much and service worse but I was there. Not anymore!! Enjoying great service and food 3 miles away.

This place used to be better but the last two times I have gone I have been disappointed. I have been given higher prices on my bill than what the list prices were and the server agued with me. No such thing as the customer is always right in this restaurant. So I will not be going back since the staff is not aware of the prices!
