So, where to begin.... I visited on 7/19/17 at 7:30pm. I was taking my mother out to dinner to introduce her to my new girlfriend. Shogun ruined the night. -At most Hibachi places if you wait for so long they start cooking regardless as to whether the table is full of not. Not here. We waited OVER AN HOUR till enough people showed-up to fill the table. -After an hour of waiting the chef discovered nobody had turned-on the grill, so we were told to pick-up our drinks and move to another table where we waiting another 15 minutes for the luke-warm grill to reach full temperature. -I asked for coke. The hostess brought me diet coke. When I asked her to correct it she said "you have coke" and walked away. The people I was with tasted it and confirmed it was diet coke, not the coke I asked for. -The waitress knocked-over my girlfriends wine while it was still 1/4 full. No replacement was offered and I was charged for it. -The waitress spilled diet coke (not the coke I asked for) on me while refilling my glass. No assistance of apology was offered. -My girlfriend asked the chef to prepare her vegetables without onions. He said "I will try". Based on what he served her I think he tried to do the exact opposite of what she asked. -I asked for 3 to-go boxes. The hostess gave me 2. When I asked for an additional one she walked away and never gave me an additional one. -I usually tip VERY well (~25%) for good service. Because of the extremely poor service and poor attitude I gave a small tip. THE HOSTESS HAD THE AUDACITY TO CONFRONT ME AND DEMANDED I INCREASE THE TIP! I was aghast! She aggressively entered my personal space and behaved in a physically aggressive manor. Very un-civilized and dare I say even criminal in nature! -We all got sick from the food!!!! It tasted horrible going down, and even worse coming back up later that night. Owners: Fire the hostess that was on duty that night!

I wish there was an option for zero stars! This place has gone down hill. If you think making a reservation matters...lol. After waiting 30 minutes our party was finally seated; directly below their leaking roof. The waitress slowly sat us at another table and disappeared. Thats right, it took her 15 mins just to come back to take out drink orders. When she came back the drinks that were given to us the ice had already melted. The chef Caesar was great and put on a great show. However the food is bland and the service is horrible. No one at my table even received a refill. If youre looking for good customer service and great food at a cheaper price visit Sapporo. The fact that they have the nerve to tack on 18% gratuity is comical considering you can even get a refill. By the end of my visit I had asked the nice hostess to speak with the manager who apparently was right next to me, his reply "what does she want" as if Im not even there. Ill never step foot back in there and if you were smart you wouldnt either!

After a long hiatus from Shogun (reason below), I decided to give it another try today. I asked for a table while looking at about 12 people seated at tables. The guy responded, "hibachi only." I looked at the customers seated at regular tables. The guy said "our table server left. Hibachi only." Well, I dont want to sit by myself at a hibachi table, so I said "thanks" and left. Typically, Ill forgive this trespass. Good help is hard to find. But, the reason I was away so long is that I went there a number of years ago with some colleagues. We sat at a table and ordered. I had to go find someone to help us. The lady I found did so begrudgingly. She brought us drinks and took our orders - which were ready because we were there about 20 minutes at this point. We didnt get our food for another hour. So, I havent been back. I used to like the place a lot and really wanted to give it another shot today. Oh well.

This place is disappointing everytime I go here. Last night we waited with a full table for 1 hour and 10 minutes before out food started getting made. When ordering the woman shook her head and rolled her eyes because I asked for no vegetables. Literally everything I ordered was over cooked. My medium rare steak was medium well, shrimp over done, and the lobster literally had a hard crispy layer from sitting on the grill too long. We normally go to the one off Westport because of this, but figured its been a few years, give them another shot because they are closer. Never again. And to top it off. It was seriously 81 degrees in that place. I know because the thermostat was right next to us, and I almost turned the air in myself. Youd think at $70 for 2 of us to eat, they could afford to turn the air on while they make us wait for our over cooked food.

This place is the BEST!!! My boyfriend and I visited for the first time recently for his birthday. The hostess and the server were very nice and made us feel right at home. She helped us with the menu and explained everything perfectly, considering it was our first time eating there. The show that the chef put on was amazing and he kept us very entertained. The place was VERY clean and the food was OUT OF THIS WORLD amazing!! Seasoned very good and very freshly made right before our eyes. I was recommended by my boss and i most DEFINITELY recommend this place to everyone!

Do not listen to any of the other reviews Ive been going here for years never once experienced anything anybody else says in the reviews this place has delicious food great entertainment great portions and very cheap on lunch always clean and friendly salad is delicious teriyaki chicken is the number one thing Id recommend every single chef I have is always incredibly nice friendly and funny they have begun to know me as a regular This place is better than ever I would highly recommend it for a nice quick lunch for a great price great portion and tastes extravagant!

Honestly dont know if their food is good, service is horrible though. Came in at 9 and their sign said they closed at 930, just wanted take out, the front of house staff were all just sitting on their phones anyway, after standing awkwardly at the front counter for about 5 minutes they finally decided to tell me that they were closed, to which I responded "your sign says you close at 930" and they just repeated that they were closed. Im sure if I was the owner id be upset that my employees turned business away when there was still a half hour to go.

I really enjoy this restaurant. It has been a cornerstone of the Stonybrook Shopping center for many years but it is well-maintained and clean. It has a sushi bar, a hibachi grill where you can see your food prepared right before your eyes with a usually very talented and funny chef, or you can sit at a regular table and have the food prepared in the kitchen and brought to you. The food has a good taste, the meat is fresh and tender. Its located at the intersection of Hurstborne Parkway and Taylorsville Rd and so it has easy access in and out.
