I look for consistency in overall quality and authenticity, compared to what I have had in major cities with well ranked restaurants and living and traveling around the world.. The desert offered was canned fruit cocktail floating in a mango sauce, which I have not seen until now; I do not know anyone that is a canned fruit cocktail fan so I was very disappointed. Honestly, I thought rice pudding with white sultanas and saffron was standard fare so I hoped to see it. I found three loose bones in various dishes and this issue should be addressed given the brokenness and potential problem factor, and that other Indian restaurants manage this issue just fine. One of the broken bones might have been very hard rice clump, it was difficult to tell. Regardless, not in any Indian restaurant I have previously visited. I enjoyed the vegetarian dishes. I would have liked to see another vegetarian dish, like palak paneer or something with cauliflower, with chunks of veggies. There were two types of breads offered, one I had not seen previously which reminded me of baked white bread mushed into a dough then pressed into a three inch disc; they would be better off serving another type of bread dish or a veggie dish. The other bread was naan which was standard in quality but stacked in a huge quantity in the pan instead of periodically replacing it with something crisp and fresh out of the oven. I did not see any Indian drinks offered, only alcoholic beverages.... which is another minus 0.5 - 1 star. It is a small establishment and good considering the size and location in middle America. IMHO, the dishes could be a little Indian spicier however I am not sure the typical Midwest American palette could handle it. If you are visiting from out of town, go for the vegetarian dishes(4*****) and naan.

I went to the Paradise Biryani Pointe 3 times. As I anticipated on their opening day, the service was disappointing and it took for ever to the order to be served. I gave them the benefit of doubt that being their first day, they are overwhelmed. Next I went for a lunch buffet and the food was good. Service has improved considerably. Chiken Tikka Masala with plump chicken pieces was a delight as were Malabar Fish and Vegetable Biryani. The mango custard fruit salad was tasty. Encouraged by this, I again visited the place for dinner on 05/13, they menu is much smaller than the opening day. My party of 4 shared Cut Mirchi Bajji, Vegetable Biryani, Chicken Biryani, Chicken Chettinadu. The waiter encouraged me to order the Vegetable Biryani saying that they changed the vegetables and now they are more visible and flavorful. To our surprise it was not a marketing ploy, the Alu, CauliFlower, Carrot are plump and high in flavor. Chicken Biryani was amazing and was the Chettinadu. I agree with Thaos review that they portions are big. Service is much better, friendly, food arrived on time. On the whole, they took a couple of weeks to settle and I am glad they opened in West Des Moines. Will be visiting again soon.

AMAZING! One of the best Indian buffets/menus Ive ever experienced! Keep going back weekly! They always switch up their buffet items around making it super interesting and of course plenty of vegan options DAILY! All the staff is extremely helpful, always; The cook always comes out to greet me when Im there. Just amazing. People that are complaining about petty things on the thread are just that, petty! For example, why would you complain about getting a water with no ice??? All you have to do is ask for ice, and if youre dining here weekly, you would know a bit about the Indian culture, THEY USUALLY DONT USE ICE PERIOD!!! There is no SALT in the food?? ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? First off- salt is HORRIBLE for you, second - the food tastes simply amazing, third - PUT SOME SALT ON IT IF YOU WANT SODIUM!!! Get over yourselves......

I must first say that I am no expert in Indian food, and my tolerance for things spicy is low. That said, this is my favorite Indian restaurant. We typically go for the buffet, so we can experiment at minimal cost while still having access to old favorites like chicken tikka masala or one of the paneers. I have broadened my horizons and upped my capsaicin tolerance somewhat (and if I overdo it, theres always raita). The biryanis are very good, and theres always a variety of vegetarian dishes. I must leave the evaluation of the curry to others. The staff are helpful and courteous, and willing to answer our questions about the food. We dont drink, but one can. I believe you will enjoy this restaurant.

This used to be to our favorite Indian spot in town. Last weekend we visited and the Chicken Saag was brought out and was brown (this dish should have a green color to it). The waiter informed us they had a new main chef. He took the dish back and brought out another which looked completely different and still wasnt correct. At that point we asked for the check and just wanted to leave. He refused and brought out a third different dish (about an hour has passed at this point). Still completely different than what it had been the past 10+ times we had dined here. The kicker, they still charged us for the dish. Wont be returning... ever.

On two separate occasions, there has been meat in the veggie options. Once the paneer Tikka masala had chicken in it and tge second time there was "goat" I was told when I showed them some brown clump in the palak paneer. The second time was after we had boycotted them for 1 year after the paneer Tikka masala incident. Obviously they have learned little. Being an Indian restaurant they should know better, there are strict vegetarians out there for religious reasons who would be mortified. NEVER AGAIN AND STAY AWAY IF ONLY FOR HYGIENIC REASONS. God knows whats going on in their kitchen.

I would not even give one start but I have to do that. No star here becuse I went there today around 8:00 and their AC was not working. I only asked them to turn the fan towerds to my table because it was 80 degree inside. That waiter refuce to do that and he did not did that rather he said that sir I will not be able to do that. I am going to make bill of almlst $100 bill but no service towards that. I will never going to go there and I would not recommend anyone to go here. I dont know how food is but service is definately not good.

Paradise Biryani Pointe is the best restaurant in Des Moines. The food is more than excellent and the staff is incredible. Ray is probably the nicest person Ive ever met and he is most definitely the best waiter Ive ever had. I am not the reviewing type, or the sharing type, but every single time I go to this restaurant, I have to post a comment on Facebook raving about how great it is. Its that good. Its truly remarkable. This place and its people are gems. Do yourself a favor, go there.

We wine in during a very busy lunch hour, there was hardly anywhere to sit and we had to wait for plates but the staff was so nice it didnt matter. They were trying to get everything done as fast as they could and they discounted our lunch buffet price because of the wait on things. The food was great, I had a chance to try many dishes I hadnt had before as well as favorites! I would recommend checking it out if youre in the area
