I frequent the Moody St restaurants often and was looking for a new place to try for my birthday. My significant other is gluten intolerant and Im a vegan but we were bringing two meat eating friends. The menu was great as it was entirely gluten free (homemade corn tortillas!) and they had multiple vegetarian options. We started off with some excellent patron margaritas and the guacamole rojo. Drinks were excellent and the guac was fresh. The homemade chips were also very tasty. The other couple shared three orders of different tacos between them and everyone seemed to really like their food. I got the chile relleno with black beans and quinoa and my boyfriend had the veggie enchiladas. All the food was great. The decor is also really nice and all the staff were very friendly! I will definitely be going back.

If youre looking for the best authentic Mexican restaurant in town, look no further than Amuleto on Moody. I was happily surprised when I stumbled across this new eatery to find great food and even better drinks. I were greeted with fresh homemade tortilla chips and an array of different types of salsa, all which were excellent. I then ordered the barbacoa taco and guacamole both which were astounding. For my main entree, I decided to get the Birria de Chamorro or braised lamb. This was one of the best decisions Ive made in a long time. To drink, I had a Mezcal cocktail, a first for me, but certainly not the last. Simply put, if youre looking for great Mexican food/drinks accompanied with a beautiful interior look no further than Amuleto.

Started with a Oaxaca Old Fashioned cocktail made with Mezcal. I had never heard of Mezcal, and do not like Tequila, but I felt like I had to give it a try. Im so glad I did. The cocktail wasnt too sweet, wasnt too strong, and didnt have that tequila after-bite that I usually hate. The strongest taste was the smokiness of the Mezcal which was exactly how the waiter had described the drink before I ordered it! Before the meal, our waiter gave us some pickled vegetables that were absolutely perfect and a great way to get our appetites started without filling us up. My main course was the Salmon in Mole. The mole sauce was good, but the fish was outstanding. Really cool space as well. Five star experience all around.

Best upscale authentic Mexican restaurant that Ive tried in the entire Boston area. Cocktails were strong but very tasty - we had the smoky mezcal and a house Margarita. The chargrilled octopus appetizer was AMAZING, and the ceviche was great too. We tried a few entrees and loved them all, but especially the complex mole sauce was awesome on the veggie enchilada. The tacos were amazingly refined and unlike any other taco Ive had. Nice decor and very friendly and prompt service along with the yummy food made this a great night out. Highly recommended - weve tried basically all the restaurants in Waltham, and this is definitely one of our favorites!

Possibly the worst Mexican food weve ever had. We left 5 dishes sitting at the table and went out for pizza. The beer was flat, the salsa had never been in the same room with a jalapeno, the pork was disgusting, and no, guacamole is NOT just mashed avocado. Bostons Mexican restaurants are generally pretty disappointing, but this was a new low.

Amazing place. I went there when it first opened up and the owner talked to me about mezcal and offered (free) samples,. The food is delicious (their guac is honestly one of the best Ive had, and they have delicious street corn) and the mezcal flights are worth trying if thats your thing. Cant recommend enough.

Food was outstanding albeit really small portions--it left me wanting more. I didnt like that they charged for chips and tortillas. Service was a bit slow and not very engaging. This place has some really great, authentic dishes but needs to improve on service and value. Mezcal selection was great!

Extremely friendly staff, owner always takes the time to chat with me about Mezcal, Tequila, or food. Food is pretty darn tasty. Ribs are my favorite. They make a fresh, clean Margarita with no nasty additives. Sitting at a table or the bar is always comfortable. One of the best spots on Moody.

One of our favorites in Waltham! Fantastic food (we love the ribs and tacos), and the drinks are always spot on, with great selection of Mezcals. The mixed drink MezcalLoco is my favorite here. Welcoming and friendly service, and laid back atmosphere. Highly recommended.

This is a great, rather fancy, Mexican restaurant that doesnt specialize in nachos and tacos. We need places like this in Massachusetts. They have a great selection of mezcal, including tasting flights. Be sure to order something with mole sauce. Really excellent service.

Restaurant was okay. The drinks were okay. If youre a whiskey fan or afraid of tequila, dont go! My husband and I were very disappointed with the food that we paid too much for and came not like described in the menu. Dont really recommend it. And were never going back.
