Hands down, my favorite burger in Milwaukee. Dont expect anything fancy from Mazos. No eclectic decor. No fine China or silverware. No host to show you to your seat. This is an absolute throwback to a simpler, better time. Im 31, so I wasnt even alive for those better times I speak of, but I know the feeling when I get it. Small dining area, maybe a dozen or so tables, and a counter with about 10 stools at it. Just go in and grab your seat. The prices, in my opinion, cant be beat. A burger meal will set you back about 8 bucks, and it comes with two hearty sides. That 8 bucks gets you more food than you should feel comfortable eating! Regardless of price, the glistening, juicy patty that is present to you hugged by a bun is out of this world. They grind and hand form all their patties every day, and that makes all the difference. The patties are not pretty, hell, theyre not even symmetrical! But thats what makes it amazing! The lumpy, cracked patty has parts that saw plenty of contact with the griddle and become golden and crisp, while other parts dont touch the surface of the griddle at all, leaving the meat to stew in its own delectable juices. Do not pass up this gem!!!!

Mazos makes some of the best hamburgers in Milwaukee. You don’t have to believe me, City Search and the Milwaukee Journal both rated it as the best in the city. The food is fresh; this is not frozen meat that has been sitting around. The hamburgers are juicy and flavorful. In addition to this, they have homemade soup (very good). Mazos has been around more than 75 years. They moved to the present location in 1948. Hanging on the walls are newspapers, drawings, etc. from bygone days. The staff is very friendly and will make the burgers to your request. (They have other sandwiches also but the hamburgers are the heart of the operation. There is parking in the rear of the restaurant and the place is handicap accessible. Two things to note: on weekdays, the restaurant closes by 7 pm and - it is easiest to access the restaurant if you are traveling north on 27th. The restaurant is just short of the 27th and Oklahoma intersection which (with the huge Aurora hospital) can be very busy. It is worth the trip.

Summary: Really quality burger with decent fries, but what appears to be hit or miss service. My wife and I decided to grab lunch here on one of the days of our vacation. One of the things I liked was the obvious history that the place has. I got the double cheeseburger which was excellent, but huge. I would recommend getting the single unless youre really hungry. The fries were good, but nothing fancy. Just your standard crinkle cut. The homemade chicken noodle soup was good also, but a little mushy. My wife got the grilled cheese which was also huge. Quite the bargain. I ordered our food to go, and I didnt have any issues. However, I heard one of the servers make two separate mistakes with other orders while I waited. Seemed like it could be an issue if youre in a hurry.

My disabled husband, who is a stroke survivor with aphasia and apraxia of speech, and I went to Mazos on Wednesday evening for a burger. While we were waiting for our order, one of the staff was having an obnoxiously loud conversation with a friend regarding a sewer inspection. My husband shhhhed her. She proceeded to say, again quite loudly, "just another one (drunk), thats why Im not open at night". When I turned around to speak to her, she said snottily that our order was being prepared. How RUDE for an employee to be having an obnoxiously, loud personal conversation in front of customers, and not only that, a discussion about sewers. Furthermore, how absolutely RUDE to assume that someone who cant speak is intoxicated. We wont be back ever again!!!!

This restaurant has horrible service. They told me my child was disruptive. The burgers and bacon were over done and all they told me when I said my food was horrible was... Sorry.!! How can you explain any problems with the food when the server is no where to be seen. My milkshake was tipped over because the server couldnt be patient while handing out the food and yet didnt replace it. This burger place was placed on the list of one of the 50 places to eat before you die. They honestly werent any better than McDonalds. I dont EVER do reviews but everything about this experience was horrible.

Ive been looking for a burger joint near me for some time after Bellas Fat Cat closed. I still havent found it. At Mazos, the burgers are pretty good, but you cant ask for ketchup, mustard, or anything else on the burger. Who enjoys peeling the bun from melted cheese, opening stupid little packets of ketchup and mustard then reassembling the burger? Just put it on there for me. Its not that hard. I have only visited Mazos twice in the 5 years Ive lived here for the same stupid reason.

I was very excited to try Mazos for the first time after being told how good the burgers are by many people. So, the disappointment I felt when I bit into the dryest burger I have ever had was crushing. The staff couldnt care less when I told them about my disappointment with the food. Save your money and go to Culvers for a better burger.

Stopped by on a Tuesday night for dinner while visiting family at St. Lukes. GREAT food! Our party had a Patty Melt and Cheeseburger, both of which were very good. The Patty Melt was grilled good and crispy, which is often rare among restaurants. Cheeseburger was delicious. Sides were good as well. Highly recommend.

Look elsewhere... Burgers were ok, service was terrible. My wife and seated ourselves after waiting 15 min. to be seated. Dining experience cost us almost 2 hrs of time! Young waitress that came in later was the saving grace for our time there. She also was the only one that said hello to us.

Great food. Wonderful atmosphere. We each had the Cheeseburger Combo. Burgers were great, buns really made the taste! Fries were average. Chocolate Malt didnt have a lot of flavor. Its always nice to visit one of the classics, but there are better choices in the area.

Mazos is absolutely the best, hands down. Ive eaten at this restaurant for over a decade now and never once disappointed. The bugers are a custom blend of prime meats (family recipe), and always fresh. The soups are homemade daily as well. You cant go wrong here.

Delicious food for a great price. Food is always fresh and the atmosphere is very laid back and rustic. Only reason i didnt give a five is because i think customer service could be a little better. The waiters/waitresses are never friendly.

Have driven past here 100 times and didnt know it even existed. My gfs friends on FB we raving about it, so we decided to give it a try. Very good old-fashioned burger and great bacon on top. Will definitely be returning. Great food.
