I come here a lot. Why? The food is authentic, not Americanized like Pepes, ChiChis, and Don Pablos. Run by actual Mexicans and the food here is exactly how they make it at home. I ordered my food as carryout on Cinco de Mayo, because I knew a lot of people who dont go to Mexican restaurants a lot would be in that night. The place was packed, with a waiting line of at least a half an hour, and only 3 people waiting tables. Not usual for them, so a couple must have been sick. I got steak Carne a sad tacos, and 2 chimichangas (1 soft, 1 crispy) meals, and a couple quessadillas for appetizers. Everything was hot, the beans creamy, the rice spiced perfectly. The homemade chips and salsa are a family favorite. Lots of large families were there and they have many kid favorites on the kids menu. I could see people standing in the bar area eating their food. This was probably the busiest I have ever seen them. All the food I got was just $35, so pretty cheap for the real deal and portion size, but I marked the price range as "Moderate" because some meals are higher priced than what I got. If you go, remember English is their second language, so sometimes the translating doesnt equal the same thing if theyre trying to decipher a word or phrase theyre not familiar with. Also, tomatoes, sour cream, onions and quacamole have a naturally high salt content, as do many of the hot peppers and seasonings. They cant do a thing about how salty it might taste if you get all those items on your entree and add even more hot sauce to it at the table. Just a friendly reminder as I just remembered 1 belligerent guy berating Anna for how salty the food was. It isnt, but his plate of food was covered in so much salsa and hot sauce Im not sure what it was covering. Anyway, go, enjoy some authentic Mexican food and make it before next Cinco de Mayo because that isnt going to be the best day to feel the family atmosphere they try hard to create for their dining guests.

El Rodeo has become a regular visit for me and my family. The wait staff is always friendly, the food is served surprisingly fast, and its delicious. Its also a place where theres never a wait for a table, making it a great go-to option on a Friday or Saturday evening in Lafayette when so many places are crowded. My only real issue -- and its a minor one -- has to do with decor. Its simple, sparse, and a bit on the boring side (lots of paintings of Mexican vistas) but I can live with it in lieu of all the great things about the restaurant. Just know if atmosphere is important to you, you might want to look elsewhere. There IS a separate bar, though, which is a plus as there arent too many other options on this side of town. If your aim is delicious Mexican food served quickly and without the wait, and you dont mind the lack of atmosphere, you cant do much better then El Rodeo. Highly recommended.

Worst experience I have ever had got here at 7:45 just got my food at 9:50 then it comes out wrong I ordered a steak burrito with lettuce cheese and tomato no beans and rice on side! Come out just meat in the inside cheese on top! They take it back and unwrapped it and stick the stuff inside! I just cant believe the service here the guy seating everyone has this I dont care attitude even shrugs his shoulder when asked cause like so what ! My kids food came out cold after waiting like I said over 2 hours! My drink came out in a dirty glass I wouldnt come back here if they told me my food was free for the year! My friend order a steak well done and it came out still bleeding!

I would give it 0 stars actually. We came in unaware that they closed in 30 minutes. They informed us but said it was fine, we were rushed by the most rude waiter Ive ever met, every dish was wrong, my sisters steak on her nachos was so burnt it was not edible. My niece got hamburgar nachos and the meat was raw, as in not cooked at all, I couldve mashed it into a burger. All of this was unnecessary, simply by saying we are not taking any more customers. Worst experience ever, the rude waiter laughed at my nieces raw hamburger smdh.

Not the same anymore. The drinks food and staff arent the same anymore. Even with most of the same staff that was there before their loss of a loved one. A good Man and excellent Manager. The drinks and food do not fast the same even the salsa is different. Ive been going there pretty much since they opened. I do like the one on s QA

The food is good, the service is quick, and the salsa is fantastic. While the food probably is not "authentic", it is still very good. You cant go wrong with any of the enchiladas or burritos. I typically pick the lunch special, but the beef quesadilla relleno is a good standby option.

Food was delicious. But our server was not so great. Place was moderately busy. She took a long time to take down our order. But the food more than made up for it. Would definitely come back for the food. And they make there drinks fairly strong.

Lunch service was good and they were helpful with questions I had about the menu. I got a beef enchilada and chicken taco with rice and it was all good. Very nice flavors. I love the chips and salsa they bring you, too. Yum!

El Rodeo is great for us when we are pressed for time over lunch. They always provide quick service and good food, and you cant beat the price on their weekday lunch specials!

Fast service, with excellent food that seems authentic to me. Not very expensive either, you can get out of there for under $10 for lunch. Excellent chips and salsa too.
