My husband, son and I arrived at 11am for the lunch buffet. The service was TERRIBLE! The food was not fresh... nothing special worth raving about. We had seen that reviews on this restaurant were pretty good.. Dont be FOOLED by two year old reviews. The staff is rude the $8.99 price for the buffet is for adults, however when I received the bill we were charged the adult price for our 9 year old .(the server argued and insisted he was 10 years old and therefor an adult price).... My husband and I had ice tea my son had the Lassi (which he didnt drink) =drink charges $9.00. We were treated rudely and over charged for our average buffet meal. We left there feeling disgusted and disappointed! WILL NEVER RETURN TO THE TAJ MAHAL AGAIN!!!! This establishment is no longer an accredited member of the BBB due to complaints on products and service..

**UPDATED REVIEW** Sadly this resturant has turned sour. Ordered a chicken Dhansak Curry, when I got home it had no chicken and just sauce. Called them and they told me to come back and they would put it right. The replacement curry had chicken in it, but was a COMPLETELY different curry. I suspect they just gave me a container of the Buffet item they had the most left of. Have never gone back. Sad this place didnt work out. Now looking for a new Indian restaurant. Original Review: Brand New Restaurant as of May 09. Great food. More than willing to prepare food according to taste, including whether or not you eat hot or mild. Food is excellent, Ive eaten there 3 times already. Increadibly reasonable. Very friendly and willing to stray from the menu. This place truely deserves to do well.

Went for the buffet on Sat.8th July 2017 All the way fm Owensboro, the staff was Careless especially the girl . The rice was not cooked, only gravy in the lamb curry. Not once the staff came to the table to make an inquiry as to any requirement. At the counter the girl proudly says the restaurant belongs to her sister when asked who is the owner after the bill was paid she asked if we had tea or coffee we just walked off. In fact bad from the previous times that i have gone there. Avoid the staff needs traning i Hospitality Or it will hurt the restaurant as it is definitely a come down from previous visits. Never again.

While I love the food here off the menu, I decided to stop in for the lunch buffet. The selection was OK, but only a couple of items Id usually like. The chicken korma, while off the menu is quite good, on the buffet it was quite obviously quickly cooked chicken breast thrown into a watery sauce. Barely any flavor, over done and chewy. My recommendation would be go and order off the menu, the buffet food will disappoint those used to the menu, and likely leave first timers not wanting to come back. For $9 youll get full, but definitely not get the best this place has to offer as far as food quality.

I ordered online and found the service to be very efficient--the food was still plenty hot when I got it home. Having eaten at a wide variety of Indian restaurants while in Bloomington for school, I think Taj Mahal is about average overall, but probably the best in Evansville. Their samosas and naan are excellent, but the Chicken Tikka Masala is just meh. If youve eaten at Taste of India (or are familiar with traditional Indian food), this wont quite measure up. However, if youre just venturing into Indian cuisine, Taj Mahals mild flavoring and extensive menu is a great place to start.

This was for a friend, but I thought I would provide it here as well: If you can make it for lunch, they have a buffet. Otherwise, they have good meals for dinner under $15. Get the naan and the three sauces to put on it. Its a flatbread that goes well with the different entrée choices. I cant remember the names of the entrées, but Ive had three different ones and they were all good. They have a number system for the hotness, but I thought it was rather weak. I think I could have gone up a number or two easily. I think I had a 5 or 6, but Im not certain. Good luck!

I just ate at Taj Mahal for the first time (had the lunch buffet). I will definitely be back in the near future. It was very clean and quiet. The food was great. I have very rarely had service that I would put on par with them. The employees were not particularly friendly, but not at all rude. They seemed very focused, professional, and polite and made sure that everyone was taken care of without being obtrusive or irritating.

I was extremely pleased with the quality of food at this restaurant and recommend it to all without reservation! I had the chicken tikka massala with naan and it surpassed all my expectations; additionally, the service was fantastic, I was greeted with genuine smiles and will go back at least two more times this week since I am only in Evansville for a short time. FIVE STARS.

We went for lunch and decided on the lunch buffet. Decent buffet. Our daughter and her husband live near San Francisco, California so they know Indian restaurants and they liked Taj Mahal. Server was attentive and pleasant. We had good food and a good time. We would recommend visiting Taj Mahal for a good Indian meal.

The staff is also very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone looking for great Indian food and quality service.

Take Mahal is my favorite Indian restaurant in the Tri-State. I am particularly fond of their lunch buffet which offers a wide selection of Indian classics. The ambiance of the restaurant is perfect, and the staff is most accommodating and very friendly. It is truly a superb restaurant.

Very good flavors, I have eaten authentic Indian food with families whom have cooked authentic Indian all their lives. This food has that great seasoning. This is probably one of the only ways I enjoy Vegetables. Nice staff also. $5.00 Discount for paying with cash over $ 50.00.

This place is grand, high ceilings and lots of wood work gives this place a very upscale look. Dinning place is divided into different rooms. Food is good but can be improved so I gave four stars. This place is wonderful for taking someone special for lunch/dinner.

The lunch buffet here is amazing. Free mango lassi or chai on Mondays and Tuesdays is so worth the break from work! They even have a takeout buffet which means fill a box for a discount from the sit-down buffet price. Everything is delicious and authentic.

I give them 5 stars because the staff is always great! And this is the only Indian food buffet (lunch time only) option in town. I have been here about a dozen times and I have received the same quality of service and food every time!
