2 bad meals in 2 days. I usually go here about once a month and lately I have noticed this place on a steady decline. My dinner of choice was the burt ends entree. Placed order and guy hands it to me on a tray to dine in. Told him it was to go and he rolls his eyes and looks at me like I caused him a problem. Not only was the portion less then if I would of got the sandwich but quality has tanked. They were dry, no smoke flavor, and tasted like crappy pot roast. So we called to let the Manager know and he offered to credit. We stopped in next day..... same story. I got a pile of flavorless shreaded potroast. It didnt used to be like this. Sides were still good. Except for the fact when I asked the server of the sides what one of them was, he couldnt tell me because he didnt speak English he just pointed at a different employee about 20 way.? Its time that I start spending my money elsewhere. This place used to be consistently good and now just consistently bad. :-(

I should start by saying I am from Texas. No way you could stay open in Texas with the food this place serves. I had the two meat plate with brisket and Texas sausage. The brisket was dry. Very dry. Brisket should have enough fat to at least be moist, but this was not. The brisket did have a good bark on it, but the meat itself was also lacking flavor in addition (or maybe due to) its dryness. Also, I have no idea why the sausage is advertised as Texas sausage. I have lived 40 years in Texas and never eaten sausage like it at a BBQ place. It is just like packaged grocery store sausage from a major brand company. Nothing special at all. While I do appreciate the variety of sauces the Texas sauce was way too ketchupy. We do use ketchup as a base for sauce but this needed more acid and more spice as well. Having Shiner is a nice touch as well. I did appreciate that taste of home.

Cost per person varies with taste & appetite for their MIND-blowingly mouth-watering food @ this VERY popular indoor picnic -- (where they DO, after all, call their pickles "Brain- Busters"…!) Front door sign says, "Authentic Wood Fired", and you can TASTE it! Outstanding Features: •Authentic "Buy the Mason Jar, & get Free Lifetime Refills" Southern/Country style Iced Teas, incl. Peach, Traditional Sweet, & WATERMELON; •Burnt Ends, •Side/Dessert Of the Day, •Nostalgic Bottled Sodas, •Blueberry, & Pecan Pies, •Both Parking AND Seating CAN BE limited, but fast-paced for its size, AND, as the sign says: due to high demand, they may ALSO run out of your FAVORITE item, so plan accordingly! •(Too much more to list, just go and find out for yourself ;-)!!)

I had the burnt ends sandwich. The meat was flavorful and as moist as one would expect from a sandwich made from end cuts. Offered on a bun or bread, I took the sacrilegious route and got a bun -- they looked pretty tasty, and they were. The cole slaw here is pretty okay. Its diced up pretty finely versus being stringy so it doesnt win any points in my book for that, but it tasted alright. I really enjoyed the mustard-based (yellow cap) and vinegar-based sauce (flip-top cap) -- didnt care for the others, though they did have a lot of flavor and all are worth trying. Despite others hating the lunch line style, I really like it. It reminded me of a few places Ive been to in the south that operate the same way.

Was really hopeful based on all the positive reviews for this place. Went with my family and we all got pulled pork sandwiches. Bread decent, sauce not bad, had to be the blandest "smoked" pulled pork I have ever had from a BBQ place. Looked like it was cooked in an oven, no crust of any sort that you normally get from properly smoked meats on the pieces that were outward facing however they were cooked. No smoke odor at all to the meat. The pork without sauce, seemed to have 0 taste. Sides were heavily overpriced for what you get (3.00 for one small ice cream sized scoop of mashed potatoes??) and were all just as bland as the pork. We tried 4 different sides. Everyone agreed.

Best BBQ around! I grew up in Florida and then Arizona which both have their fair share of different good BBQ places. After moving to Illinois I have been sorely dissapointed in the lack of and quality of BBQ available. Chicago knows Pizza but they wouldnt know barbeque that hit them in the face. But RUB is awesome! It outshines any barbeque place this side of the Mason Dixon. They have home brewed sauces that are excellent offering different varieties regularly, always have sweet tea, excellent appropriate sides and quick friendly service. The burnt ends are my favorite but have tried many different items and they do not dissapoint.

Ive been here many times, actually all 3 locations and we are VEEY lucky to have BBQ this good locally. Ive read some of the other reviews about "ok sauce" and "small portions for what you get" and to that I couldnt DISAGREE more. The portions are spot on but most importantly QUALITY portions! They have burnt ends and not every BBQ place has em and if you havent tried burnt ends you need to...NOW!, get in your ride and drive to the nearest RUB. While your there pick up a jar of their BBQ sauce or the sauce of the month. In closing, complaining about cost when it comes to RUB is ridiculous!!

The food is very good and once you understand how to order your food, your good to go. But their customer service is only satisfactory. They do what is necessary for customer service but dont expect a smile, help (because they are very busy trying to keep everything going), or any proactive customer service (i.e. there is no explanation of when and how you will get your food if its something they dont portion out for you at the first station making you feel as though they might be ignoring you) . I will go back because the food is so good.

This is a great BBQ place for the quick and fast. Limited seating aside, choose from a variety of tried and true favorites like Brisket and Ribs. Food was good, though after sitting in the warmer for probably hours my brisket was a tad on the rubbery side. But well above par for other regional places. We had to fight for a table, many folks just sitting chatting after being finished not caring for the 20 or so people circling for a table. If you are able to stop by on off hours I recommend! Try the chicken as well its super juicy.

I really like this place. Its not as good as some of my hole the wall BBQ haunts, but its still a good place. The ribs have a good flavor, although lately I feel like the meat has gotten a little tougher hence the missing star in the review. Definitely order perfection style and go to town with all the different styles of BBQ sauce they offer at the table. Ive also tried the pulled pork which is good but the ribs are definitely the standout here. Oh and the sides are fantastic, big fan of the baked beans and creamed spinach.
