Starting last year this place has developed into one of my all time favorite restaurants and here is why. 1. The food is excellent. my very first order was the Chef Special veggie platter with chai tea and veg samosas. the veggie platter gives you small dishes of the popular veggie main courses along with 3 sauces. this platter enables you to experiment with each dish on different types of bread and sauces. I would recommend it for people new to Indian/Nepali food. I enjoy the Palak Paneer and Bhindi Masala as standalone dishes but other veggie and meat dishes have been excellent. I couldnt stop drinking the chai tea but I wouldnt recommend ordering this to go because the Styrofoam cup alters the flavor. The samosas are crisp, well seasoned with spices, and stuffed with finely minced lamb or potato. these represent the attention to detail that seem to permeate this business. Furthermore the customer service is bolstered by 3 well dressed and attentive waiters who are always one glance away. and it seems like the owner is usually around helping out during business hours. In summation this place presents a long list of popular indian dishes with an attention to detail and quality that distinguishes it from the myriad of competitors

This place surprised me. We have never been to a restaurant that served Nepalese or Indian food, so this was a first and it was a delightful experience! We went for the lunch buffet. It wasnt crowded, maybe 4 other tables being served at the time. Service was excellent. Prompt, friendly, and water kept full. I follow a vegan diet and the staff was very helpful with informing me about what each dish contained. Out of their buffet that contained around 7 main dishes, 3 of them were vegan, which was really great for me. My partner, non-vegan, really enjoyed the other meat dishes as well. When you go to the buffet they also serve you naan bread and a chicken platter (I forget the authentic name for the dish). Dessert is with the buffet as well, but we were too stuffed after two plates. The price is roughly fair. It was around $24 for two people. For me this is definitely too expensive to go frequently, but I will visit again on special occasions, because I loved it so much. Definitely try this place out!

I rarely go to the trouble to review restaurants, but we came for the lunch buffet on a Saturday having driven by the restaurant before and being curious, and we were so impressed! Small, casual, somewhat intimate space, nice and quiet. The food was so fresh and delicious, even if the variety wasnt enormous, but we were both more than satisfied. Then to make it even better, they served sizzling tandoori chicken to the table and the most delicious, freshest naan Ive ever had. Even though it was a self-serve buffet, the staff was so friendly and attentive. They even gave us coupons for our next visits and carry-out, although at only $9.99 per person for the buffet, its already a great price. There were only a couple of other tables seated, though we were somewhat early, but I feel like this place probably doesnt get the recognition it deserves. Will definitely be back for lunch again and to try the full dinner menu. Highly recommended!

I am very regular since they open. I know the all the staff from in and out. They are very nice and customer oriented. I saw the comment which makes me laugh. There is no way that the buffet was cold and samosa with bunch of hair. This comment nothing but jealous and trying to lower their popularity. People are not uneducated that when they read that comment to figure out the person who wrote, what he trying to do for this best restaurant in fox-valley area.you may see other site for this restaurants comment, there nothing but 4.5 stars out of 5 for all the fields any restaurant required. I have humble request for all please do not believe that comment.Just try to go once you will be regular and you will have craving for their foods. Thanks

I had a great experience at taste of Himalayas. I started with Masala tea. It was spicy and not too sweet. Palunngo Ko Saag is a great spinach dish with tomatoes (I dont eat meat so I can recommend the place to vegetarians). You have to taste the Aloo Paratha it is a roty with potatoes inside. For desert I had Mango Kulfi it is mango ice cream. It is very reach with real ripe mango. Service was very friendly and efficient. You can ask Puskar about Nepal. He will be happy to tell you. The place is clean and neat. It is lightly decorated with some interesting paintings of Nepal. Next time I hope to arrive early for the Buffet.

I had given up on good Indian food in the suburbs, but then there was Taste of the Himalayas. Amazing dishes as well as great naan, sauces, and Indian beer. If you or your significant other are vegetarian this place is the best, though there are plenty of meat dishes too. They do tailor the spiciness to the community like another reviewer said, so if you want it hot just tell them and it will melt your face. I was nervous for them because they opened during the recession a couple of years ago, when a lot of restaurants were suffering, but they seem to be busy now. I guess the high quality is paying off!

My husband and I went to the lunch buffet on Friday, and it was really good. All the food was good quality, and everything tasted excellent. I have never eaten Indian food before, so it was nice to be able to try everything and actually like it. Nothing on the buffet was really all that spicy, so the next time we go my husband is going to order something off the main menu. The Makhani chicken was my favorite, its amazing if youve never had it. Also, with the price of the buffet they give you nan and tandori chicken, so its a pretty sweet deal considering their regular menu prices. We loved this place!

My daughter and I went to Taste of the Himalayas last August. We were on our way to Vancouver from Connecticut, and even though she is a big fan of Indian food, I was a little hesitant. We were treated like royalty when we arrived, and from beginning to end, the meal was perfect! Sumptuous, well presented food....we just couldnt get enough. And the owner/manager was simply the best. He joked with us, asked us about our travels, and made us feel welcome and our business appreciated. If ever we return to that area, you can bet that restaurant will be our first choice! Ellen
