One salsa maker for an entire restaurant left us waiting a long time with our food already on the table. And the salsa was not worth the wait. Perhaps on other nights they have more than one maker, though this was a Saturday night. The salsa maker at your table is just a gimmick; she is just combining pre-made ingredients. 44$ for the parillada for two and the spoonful of guacamole that came with it was prepackaged. I asked the waiter why it was brown and not fresh and he explained that it came prepackaged; fresh was an additional 3.50 charge. A $44 plate does not warrant 25 cents worth of fresh guacamole? I then asked for fresh guacamole -- and it never came. What I thought were piles of food on neighboring tables, turned out to be MOUND SHAPED platters that contained a scant amount of food. The plate is loaded with bell peppers and onions as filler with a mediocre amount of actual poor quality meat. I filled up on tortillas -- undercooked The food came out in mere minutes, and thats never a good sign. It means you are being served precooked old food being served from a buffet in the kitchen. They could at least have pretended to wait to serve us as if the food were being prepared fresh. I dont mind paying well for good food, but this restaurant is just cheap. I think it uses good atmosphere to bilk people into overpaying for low quality, poorly prepared food. Ive had immensely better Mexican food. This is one of the most expensive Mexican restaurants in the area and the stingiest with the food quality. If I want to pay that kind of money, I will go to Bien Trucha in Geneva and actually enjoy my meal. And the final straw? my son was even disappointed in the kiddie chicken fingers and french fries. Cmon guys. I give them 1 positive note for the musicians, they were the only thing I enjoyed. The atmosphere fooled our party of five into expecting a great meal. Dont be fooled also. There are plenty of other Mexican restaurants in the area to choose from. -- Im hungry and am going to make myself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich

I have never had anything less that a great experience at Las Quinta. The food is always excellent! I try to go with at least one other person because I like to order the Parrillada, which is just a platter of chicken, sausage, steak, grilled veggies, cheese and jalapenos, served with tortillas and beans. This is enough food to serve 3 comfortably, maybe even 4 light eaters, and is less than $25. The fresh salsa is made table-side, to order (mild or hot, red or green), and you can even order fresh guacamole. For drinks, I usually order whats on tap, but the centrally located bar seems to have it all, so there is no shortage of choice. The atmosphere is very pleasant, not too loud (unless the mariachi is in, but theyve only been there once in all the times Ive visited), and it is definitely a family-friendly environment. Servers are pleasant, and Ive never had a problem communicating in English to either servers or bartenders. On the weekends, there is a dance room upstairs, which I havent visited yet, but I intend to some day. I have invited many friends to have dinner with me at Las Quinta, and they all share the same opinions as I of the food and the atmosphere. Overall, Las Quinta is an excellent restaurant for a date, for lunch or dinner, for a family outing, or for a change of pace from the Casinos restaurants (located 1 block west). Enjoy!

Worst experience ever. Immediately denied our choice of seating and forced into sitting next to a cold window. Waiter was unwilling to make suggestions right off the bat, and seemed frustrated immediately. Ordered 2 margaritas and one tasted like it had LITERALLY absolutely NO alcohol in it. We also got uncharged for patron, and when they went to remake the one margarita I walked up to the bar and WATCHED the bar tender put in the house tequila and when I mentioned it to my waiter at the bar he acted as if he couldnt understand english and forced me away from the bar and to my seat. When he brought the drink back to the table I again explained that I watched the bar tender put no patron in the drink and he told me there is patron and said "do you want it or not" and I said I either want a drink with patron like I ordered or I dont want one at all. He took the drink away, sent another manager over who asked for IDs for the second time?? We asked for a new waiter, and the second waiter came to the table seeming frustrated as well right off the bat. We quickly got our food which was horrible. It wasnt hot, all extremely salty, my meal that said it came with guac on the menu did not, the food was just plain bad. Never ever going back again.

very nice place. downtown aurora at its finest. great for a date. patio is awesome with occasional mariachi singers. you will be guilted into tipping the little salsa woman who comes around and prepares it tableside fresh for you. she will also make you some very good quac, but it is not free like the salsa. live music some nights- once there was an amazing one-man-band. nightclub downstairs some nights (i have never been downstairs but i can hear the kareoke sometimes- im not sure its the place for dorky white people like my friends and i). food is prepared behind the bar, which i think is pretty cool because you can see everything if you care to go look. overall, a great place to take a date who doesnt know how awesome downtown aurora really is.

We have been here a few times and I HIGHLY recommend it. The restaurant atmosphere is classy yet relaxed and the food is DELICIOUS. The table-side guac. is super yummy and you can have it made just how you like it. Have tried a couple of house specialties (brasero de carnitas) and more classic dishes and we have not been disappointed. Affordable entrees, really decent service and great margaritas. ;) This is not your standard (mostly americanized) mexican restaurant: its definitely a notch above in all ways, featuring dishes like quail, goat, mussels and prawns. We have found some more unique dishes here than at other places locally and we really like the wide variety their menu offers.
