I had a taste for Mexican and I wanted to try something new. When we pulled into the parking lot it started to look familiar and my husband said.."Weve been here...it was awful...are you sure you wanna go in?" I told him yes lets give it another try. So we went in and were seated right away. We both ordered the carnitas and asked for table side guacamole. As we waited for our food the cart came by with the guy thats makes the guac. He made it exactly how we wanted it. Amazing! Then the food came shortly after...the carnitas were Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm mouth watering! As I bit into a taco I had made with the with the corn tortilla I couldnt believe how much flavor it had...not in a bad way either...Oooooooooooooh so much goodness as it dripped a little down my arm lol. It was amazing. Oh and let me not forget about the staff! we had 2 very attentive servers. I truly wish I could recall their names :-( ...young guys..high school age...very polite...very well versed in the food we were ordering. I am half Mexican and my grandparents are from Aguascalientes and I know good Mexican food...I asked the waiter if the chef was mexican and if so what part is he/she from. They returned and informed me he is from Michoacan. Great too know. Our 6 year wedding anniversary is coming up next week and I am going to suggest to my hubby that we return to celebrate there. Please go and try this. By the way we spoke with the staff and explained we were hesitant about returning since the first time...though a few years back...we had bad service and bad food. The waiter informed me Coronado was new a few months to only a year old and that the previous owners had an Italian restaurant there that flopped. That explains the hesitation when we first arrived. Give it a shot. Im positive youll have an awesome experience like we did.

I really wanted to like this place. I love Mexican food, and feel like a good Mexican restaurant is exactly what those strip malls in South Elgin need to be a nice break from the large chains (Red Robin, Chilis, Chipotle, etc.). Unfortunately, Coronados falls short of expectations. First off, parking is horrible. We had to park in the lot behind Coronados because there wasnt a single spot to be found. Second, the service was so slow. A meal that should have taken an hour - tops, including conversation - took over 2 hours. Simply due to slow service. Lastly, the food just wasnt good. My first impression, honestly, when I saw that my tortillas were delivered to my table in aluminum foil was "Is this a joke?". No tortilla warmers in what is supposed to be a nicer Mexican restaurant? Fail. I shouldnt see a piece of aluminum foil anywhere when Im eating my meal. Then the taste of the food is just bland at best. No hint of Latin spices at all. A big disappointment. This place is definitely a joke and I will not return.

The food deserves a 5/5 but overall I would give a 3 take in mind hat I have only been once. My ratting is due to a 5/5 on food and 1/5 on service since my time going in I was over charged and it toon 5 minutes to explain to him that the prices were higher then in the menu he finally changed to menu price but wasnt the happiest and it showed. Not sure if maybe the guy just was having a off day but over charging is never acceptable espically with time wasted and no compensation. Food was bettter then exspexted I had steak and the beans and chips are great price is a little high not by much but a little then again I live in homerglen and am accustomed to different prices

Polite staff, liked the colors but the music for such a festive "authentic" Mexican restaurant - I would have preferred Latino music, not a genre youd hear at a bar. The table-side guacamole was excellent, margarita was so-so. We had the combo dish and chose tamales and chimichangas. Chimichanga: not impressed, tamales were so dense with cornmeal they seriously had a total of MAYBE a tablespoon of meat in the whole thing (NS)! The red sauce covered the plate and was tart. Nice waitress but she took our plates which still had food and didnt ask if we wanted the rest boxed up (which we did). I would go back for the gauc, thats it.

Excellent place for the far far west suburbs to go. Reasonably priced overall but priced very well for the quantity of food they give you. Wife and I ordered two entrees and had enough a full lunch the next day. With alcohol and dinner our bill was around 35. Good atmosphere....not too loud either. Staff was courteous and good. They have table side cart for fresh guacamole and salsa of you choose to order that. Wife got a frozen mango margarita which was good....she loves forzen while I like on the rocks. Would easily recommend to others.

We started with margaritas. Nothing special. Average margaritas. But thats not the reason for the 2 stars. The service was bad. Server took forever to get our order and we were his only table. Never checked up on us, and I had to get another servers attention 3 times to get what we wanted. But still, the main reason for the 2 stars was the beans. The most disgusting, gold awful beans I have ever tastes. They were hard and dry. Not one person in our group could eat them. Overall not a good experience

Horrible service. Waitress barely came by the table. Table side guacamole and margaritas were good, but the remainder was a big disappointment. Ordered a combo plate with a burrito & enchilada. Couldnt tell which was which until tasting because it all looked the same. Glad I got 2 different meats, so that I could tell them apart. Dont waste you time on this one.

Tried it twice. Both times a complete disappointment. Margaritas weak and watery, chips were OK, but the Salsa may as well have been Ketchup. Asked if the has a spicy salsa and I received ground up habaneros to add to the crappy salsa. Burrito was filled with tasteless ground beef only. This is one restaurant that will not get a 3rd chance.

This place has great food and the guac tableside is some of the best around. The service is a little slow but the food is great. The extra charge for sour cream with tacos bothers me bu the enchiladas, guac, and anything with the Picadillo beef are great.

They have table side guacamole made to your individual preference by the Guacamole Man! A very nice gentleman who remembers how you like it. They have great dishes, margaritas and mojitos. I love this place , my go to place all the time.

My family and I love the table side guacamole. Its a good family atmosphere. We eat here once a week. The menu isnt what you would find at most authentic Mexican restaurants but the food is good. Plus they have posole everyday.
