Do not use credit/Debit cards here I went in El Faro one Friday night around 10:30 pm. Got out of my car and noticed It smells like garbage around the back. So I Walked inside, only to be overwhelmed by how crowded it is. I order a burrito with Guacamole which was made relatively fast. Cool, I go home and eat my burrito, and yes, the burrito its self was a pleasant experience. Now, fast forward a couple days. Its now Monday. I check my credit card statement only to notice I was double charged. I call the restaurant and explain the problem. They say I need to come in Friday, to resolve my issue. Thats 4 days away. The charge was only for $13.25, so I plead with them that I can just print out my statement from the credit card and show them for my money back. The lady takes a frim stance and just says "Thats the way its done". So now I have to incorporate driving to El Faro on my Friday afternoon, just for a chance to get my $13.

Just went to El Faro Lillian and am very disappointed. I ordered carry-out. The order, when I got home 20 minutes later, was wrong. When I called, they told me I could come back and pick up the correct one. That would have been at least 30 minutes round trip. I opted out but asked for a credit for the next time. They said they couldnt do that because I would get free food. Who would pay for my time and fuel for me to go back? I am gluten free and the wrong order was a burrito. The steak was fatty. At least my chips and salsa were good. I wonder if they realize the good pr they would get had they offered me a free meal the next time? Instead they are getting this post on Facebook, my blog, G+, Twitter, LinkedIn and any other outlet I can find them on.

They were very rude to us and we got bones in are chicken tacos and when we brought it to the waiters attention she said that just happened no sorry no nothing then she went back there and told the cook and the cook came out and stared at us it was a very unwelcome in environment and then we were trying to pay the cook gave us dirty looks the whole entire time it was very unsettling and I was very upset that my son could have been the one that got the chicken bone hes only two years old I will never go back to this place and I advise you to never go back their food is disgusting and they are rude..

Some would argue that El Faro is the best Mexican Food in town, they may be right, as I have yet to find anything much better. As a repeat customer, I have had far too many burritos that seemed to have been made far too hastily and without care. On the flip side, I have also had many burritos from El Faro which were quite tasty and clearly made with care. 3 stars.

I used to love this place. Have eaten here for many years. The other night my dad brought home a bunch of tacos and a burrito. I found an alive earwig in my taco. I will never eat here again, who knows what I have been swallowing for the many years I have been eating here. So disappointed, but seriously thats disgusting.

A long time staple in Elgin. Best tacos, burritos the side of your head, unbelievable horchata! What else is there?? Downtown and Lillian st. locations are my favorites out of the 5. Make sure you ask for extra pepper packets (mix for chunky carrots, onions, jalapeños, califlower)!!!!

I make a stop here just about every time I come back to town. Its that good. Their burritos are their main draw, theyre the most economical thing on the menu. One star less because they seldom have a standard container size for an order of Guacamole, but its always fresh.

Agua de horchata was made from a box not authentic, chimichanga burrito had a horrible taste, they do not clean the meat properly and leave a lot of excess fat. You are better off going across the street to El Paraiso or even Taco Bell.

Food was terrible. Waitress was rude. service was slow and sloppy. The meat was not fresh at all left a very nasty taste in your mouth.If you like eating terrible food and freezing your butt off. Have at it! Otherwise go anywhere else!!!

The fajitas are amazing. Get them. The pico de gallo is also very good. Its a cute cozy little restaurant. The parking lot is a little weird and needs updating, but the food is worth it.

The burritos are always flawless, and the chips and salsa you get if you dine in are delicious. Theyve also got some of the best hot sauces Ive ever had at a Mexican restaurant

Good food, quick to complete your order. If you sit they provide chips and pico de gallo. Definitely dont come here for the decor -- its all about the food.
