Let me start from the beginning. My intention in going here was to try the so called award winning Al-Pastor tacos since these are my all time favorite variety. Knowing it to be quite the popular and hyped place I made a reservation for 4. We arrived on time and were told despite the reservation it was going to be a thirty minute wait. Fine. So we waited and were finally seated awkwardly at a high table sharing with another party. It took servers nearly twenty minutes to come ask for our drinks. I received my soda but the rest of our table was promptly forgotten and we had to flag down another waitress to go get our other drinks which were apparently forgotten. The salsas guacamole and elotes we ordered came out within a reasonable amount of time and were all good but nothing to write home about. My pastor tacos were an utter disappointment. The only positive thing about them was the heaping portion of meat loaded on, although this was also a negative. There was virtually no cilantro, no onion, and no pineapple. The meat, while properly seasoned was shredded and felt as though it had been made in a crock pot. PLEASE I HOPE THE CHEF SEAS THIS AND RECONSIDERS THIS DECISION. The shaving of the meat caused it to mix with the sauce and provide a fairly unappetizing texture which simply did not complement the taco well at all. It was like eating mush. The best part of an al pastor taco is the crunchy bits of meat which after being shaved of the trompo are left on the stove for a bit. Consider changing these to cubes of meat at least please. The shaved consistency is just foul. The other tacos we had were okay but nothing great. While they had some interesting options you may not find everywhere any authentic whole in the wall Mexican place has far better pastor than they did with much less hassle. Overall I give them only 2 stars for poor service and because they are so grotesquely overrated. Without those aspects Id rate the food as a 3. Average. Plain and simple.

Is it fancy inside? Yes. Does it have all sorts of neato hip mostly digital music inside? Check. Is everything ridiculously overpriced for what youre getting? Absolutely. Thats the major problem with this place. There are a bunch of Mexican restaurants in the St Charles area. Non of them are charging $12 for carne tacos, (youre getting just 4 tacos thats it), that you could get virtually anywhere else. $10 for a basic margarita, which by the way I know you say its "house made mix" but come on. Only idiots are going to believe that and think thats what it takes to make a real margarita. Which comes in a rocks glass. Not to mention the menu is void of any real choices. Their outrageous drink menu takes up half of the total menu. This place is a complete ripoff in a market that has serveral other cheaper, and tastier options. Do yourself a favor and visit one of them. Not here.

While Im not a fan of paying chips and salsa, this salsa was worth it. It was a little annoying that they were completely out of the jalapeño salsa because they didnt have jalapeños after the "busy" weekend. We went around 4 on a Monday which left them plenty of time to go to ANY store beforehand and buy jalapeños. Considering its their most popular salsa youd think they would always have it available. The fajitas were super flavorful and the meat was cooked perfectly. And apparently we missed out on their margarita special because our waitress didnt tell us about it. They werent busy at all when we went so Ill never understand why a waitress doesnt feel inclined to mention any specials they have at the time. So overall it was great food but it gets 4 stars for the few minor things I wasnt impressed with.

Great drinks, food was average considering the other similar Mexican restaurants in the area. The real issue was the incompetent young woman at the front door. My daughter and I walked in at 5:30 to a completely empty restaurant and were told " Im sorry its going to be a thirty to forty minute wait, we have to wait for all our reservations to arrive before we can seat a walk in, but your free to eat at the bar or leave". We should have left but sat at bar, when finished eating about fourty minutes later the restaurant was not even half full, open tables everywhere. If it had been warmer weather when we first walked in I would have left considering all the other options in St Charles, Geneva area. Good way to lose business. Ill never return.

The place is nice, clean and has potential. We stopped here on a Sunday afternoon in search of some good tacos. They have a wide variety of offerings and some interesting ideas. We found it a bit one note since you have to order a plate of all the same tacos. My wife and I both found that the salsas overwhelmed the other flavors, and we both love salsa. I think the restaurant should allow you to mix and match a few different tacos and then bring the recommended salsa for each taco on the side so you can decide how much to add yourself. Nice that you can switch out tortillas for lettuce wraps.

What kind of restaurant runs out of glasses? We asked for water before the meal and it arrived just as we were finishing the entrees. The reason? They claimed to be out of glasses. The mens room was out of both towels and toilet paper. It took ten minutes for our server to greet us. To be fair, the food (we both had steak fajitas) was pretty good, and once it started, the service was acceptably fast. The issues above, however, detracted from what might have been a good, instead of a just so-so, experience. I doubt we will come back unless we are in downtown St. Charles and ready for dinner.

Truly modern, Mexican cuisine. Never a wait which is a huge plus for me. Ill usually get steak tacos or the carne asada. Both options are filling and have near perfect flavor. The meal comes with unlimited tortilla chips and refried beans, when paired to any of the guacamole choices; becomes one of the best chips and guac Ive ever had. Lunch or dinner, you need to try this place. Finish each bite with an authentic glass bottled Coke from Mexico or any of the draft brews on tap.

Manager Kimberly ensured I had a wonderful meal with my many food allergies! I cannot have dairy, soy, egg, or beef, and I was able to eat guacamole with special cut up fresh veggies insteasy of chips, two delicious taco entrees to share, and a tasty margarita-mule drink! She seriously went above and beyond what most restaurants will do! Usually I get the "we have a gluten free menu" response, when that doesnt address my allergies whatsoever. We will be returning frequently!

We decided to try out Puebla Modern Mexican tonight and were definitely impressed. The decor is spot on and the chips were delicious. We were pleasantly surprised when our server told us that on Tuesdays all tacos are only $7 (each order comes with four tacos). Was a bit surprised that the mango salsa was puréed instead of mango chunks, but it wasnt bad by any means. Churro/ice cream dessert was incredible. Overall great service and food - well be back!
