I have been eating here since 2006 and I have no idea what took my so long to write this review. I move around a lot and travel quite a bit. Now that I am back in the area, this is one of the first places I went. I was so happy that it was still there and thriving. I dont even know where to begin. Ashokas is the best Indian food I have ever had. I have had Indian food in 4 countries and always compare it to Ashokas. Not to mention they have CHEESE Samosas! Its like a little Indian pizza pocket from heaven. I have brought friends in over the years and they always agree that the food is on point. If you can get Ashoka talking.. he is one of the funniest people. He has jokes.. seriously. I would recommend trying it. It is not a huge place but very comfortable and once you go...youll be back

My wife used to eat at Ashoka when she was a younger with some friends. When we moved to the area she recommended that I try it. The owner came out and greeted us on our first visit together and after we explained that it was my first time having Indian food, he recommended a few different things and even brought out a few extra little bits to try. The food was great the service was great too. The funny thing was half way through our dinner the owner asked if my wife had been there before, he remembered her from when she came in with her friends. We went back many times to dine in or pick up. We have since moved about 1 1/2 hours away, but still come back from time to time, making the drive back to Glendale Heights just to get some great Indian food from Ashoka.

This is the most amazing Indian restaurant in the area. Sure, there are flashier places -- but youll have to sacrifice the phenomenal quality, taste, authenticity, and service that Ashoka offers. We have been here innumerable times (I went every single week for 4 months at one point), and every item we have ever ordered has been fresh, freshly-prepared, and delicious! I love the paneer bhurji, their cheese samosas . . . well, I love everything, honestly. Ashok (the owner) is so nice and always comes out to talk. The food is prepared as soon as you order it, and the naan is to die for! If you are an Indian food fan, you MUST go here. Since we discovered Ashoka, we refuse to go anywhere else for Indian food. It is the best!!!

Went there for Mothers Day. The ambiance was not appealing.The Masala papad was too salty. For the entree we ordered the bhaigan bhartha, paneer bhurji, and malai kofta. That tasted decent. At the end when my Dad went to pay a worker saw Shiv bhagwans picture in my Dads wallet and accused him of having his picture in a leather wallet (it was not real leather). Then busted out all his rudhra necklaces, showing that hes a true follower of Shiv bhagwan. I have nothing against his religious beliefs, but that was not a professional way to talk to a customer. Never going back.

Omg this restaurant has the best food around the area, for their food I want to give them 5 stars, cuz no matter what you order they wouldnt disappoint you. Its the authentic delicious Indian food which reminds me of Indian street and dhaba food. The only reason why i took one star away,was the interior of the restaurant. It didnt look alive, there was no music and it needs a good update on everything inside (renovation). But again its up to the owner, regardless of look,Id go there for delicious food.

A modestly decorated restaurant. My papadums and mint chutney were fantastic! The chef actually grilled them whereas most Indian restaurants microwave them. The papadums, vegetable biryani & garlic naan were the best Ive ever had. This place has amazing food. The owners are a man and his wife and they have no employees.... They certainly do an amazing job! I highly recommend this restaurant if you want the best Indian food in the area!

We tried this place on a whim. I was honestly surprised by this food. It was amazing food and very well priced. The package the food well for takeout. They are friendly. I want to earn people the food that we have had has been more spicy than we expected. We like spicy so it works.but just wanted to give everyone a heads up.

Changing from 5 to 1 Edit: Since the last couple of months i have had very poor experience with this restaurant. The dal we order for take away was definitely stale, smelled so bad The mixed veg was only just edible I would not recommend this restaurant any more

Family owned. Ive been eating their for over 20 years.Very Ma and Pa. Very good vegetarian dishes. The best naan, samosas and pakoras. Ashoka, the owner, does his own variations on most standard Indian fare, and he does it better.
