Rating Style : Vegetarian Food aspect We were at this restaurant 2 weeks ago along with our friends and this was our first experience at Godavari. If you are a vegetarian, this place is an utter waste of money for the buffet price they charge. Although the vegetarian spread looks fine, it isnt the best value for money either. The sambar smelled and tasted bad and i had reported this to the floor Manager who was prompt in accepting the feedback although i am not sure how was it conveyed to the Chef. While Godavari may or may not agree to my review on Sambar, a family of 5 adults cannot report the same review as mine. The karakozhambu was good but the best part of the meal was Rasam which was par excellence. I havent had a chance to enjoy such a good Rasam anywhere in Chicago. Veg Manchurian was worth the try and something which i may order as an ala carte if i were to visit Godavari once again. Their Veg Biriyani wasnt something that i would crave for being a hyderabadi. Overall : Worth only 75% of the price they charge per meal. A good visit for a family, once in 6 months and not more frequent than that.

Not at all happy with the service. On my wife birthday we went there for dinner. we ordered special egg biryani thought of trying.after waiting for 30min when the dish came it is just colored rice with boiled eggs. I didnt understood wats special in that. There is no spices in that may be that is they call as SPECIAL. Then I asked the guy and he said I think they missed spices !!!!! Watttttt???? How come one can forget to add what ever spices need to be added to a dish while preparing. Not even saying sorry for the inconvenience he just said we will add spices to that and give you and we waited for 15 min to get so caalllleeeddd Special egg biryani. Even again there are no spices or nothing. just added little more rice to that and brought. I want to ask him again but he is not at all bothered about that and he is busy in talking with other customers. Not at all happy with the way they treat customers. Worst service i would say. Simple thing if we are paying for the food and service then we will expect that from who ever providing that but here i dont see that.I decided not to go again.

Not up to the mark.. I went there twice.. on first occasion after checking rating which was 4*.. I fail to understand how it is getting 4 star. I didnt like the taste as everything is having curry leaves. who puts curry leaves in chicken lollipop and that also chicken lollipop was not crispy rather it as having gravy of some other dish i guess.. On second occasion due to my vegetarian friend who said veg is good. We order Gobi65, chicken chili, dosa, chicken chetinad and Malai kofta.. again Gobi 65 was not at all crispy.. someone needs to tell the chef how to make Gobi 65.. then chicken chetinad was full of garam masala and we just left half of the food in the bowl and plates.. I am giving 2 stars only for the fast service and for the waiter who listened to my feedback patiently..

One and only favorite Indian restaurant in Chicago ...! Weve tried most of the restaurants in the Devon area and Godavari is the one we keep coming back to. I love their lunch buffet because you can try a little bit of everything and its delicious! Its perfect for someone who is trying Indian food for the first time. We were also pleasantly surprised with their dinner service - a menu full of intriguing entrees, the food we ordered was excellent food and my girlfriend says its pretty much spot on for authenticity. The service has always been very attentive whenever weve been there. As for value, entrees are about $10 but in my opinion well worth it, weve always left full and very satisfied. In the weekend they have special items. I loved it.

I have ordered Rayalaseema kodi vepudu and the Hyderabad Chicken biryani. For the Kodi vepudu they served me Chicken Pepper fry and when I checked it with the supervisor hes started explaining me that Rayalaseema Kodi vepudu is the chicken pepper fry and the chef put lots of pepper with out salt. The Briyani is also not even close to the hyderabadi dum style. In the menu (Kodi Vepudu) is described as chicken sautéed in andhra sauce in ended up having Tandoori pieces in onion fry with lots of pepper. Not even close to the Andhra styled dishes. So Guys, dont go by the names in the menu .you end up having same recipes in different restaurants with the name change . I dont recommend this restaurant for Andhra Styled Dishes .......

The two stars are earned for the food which was pretty good. However they do have a very odd combination of items available for vegetarians. Three rice based dishes but no curry except Korma despite having Naan? The service was a complete disaster from start to finish - table allocation, keeping food stocked, clearing away plates, keeping foot traffic minimal around diners, being courteous, they failed at every possible opportunity - and the ambience was spoiled by too many people just lingering near tables waiting for seats. They even managed to spill some stuff from another tables dirty plate on our table while clearing our plates. Go for the meats if you must, but dont expect much more and you will do fine.

If you want to try Real South Indian spicy foods taste you can try this place. But why I gave 1 Star is this place is so small and you have to wait in hot sun, What ever the taste may be you cant make some one to stand in hot sun while he is hungry. Other than that taste of food is good back then but people are saying not good anymore. Do not go to this place in weekends. This place is small and clumsy and loud music or noises here and there. They are making Dosa next to the street which is not hygienic... In the middle of lunch you have to walk out from your place to get dosa and surprisingly you have to stand again in a line in hot sun. For the price you are charging the way of customer service is Bad.

It was on impulse that my husband and I came to Godavari for dinner Friday night. The crowd waiting to be seated was an unusual sight in a suburban Indian restaurant. We were told that the wait was 10 minutes. In eight minutes, we were ushered to a table! "Chicken 555" snagged our curiosity...and ordered it as an appetizer. This dish turned out to be exquisite. The rest of our food was a delectable complement. Godavari has now become a must-go-back place for us. Why should it not be...with yummy food served fresh by attentive wait staff! Awesome experience!
