We got here a little on the later side of dinner (8pm) and still had to wait about 40 minutes to get seated for a party of four. I took it as a sign that the food was good. Two of the people I was dining with had been there before as they lived in the area and had some good appetizer recommendations: the brussel sprouts and the lollipop wings. We went with the wings that night and they did not disappoint. I dont know if they surpass Great Seas wings but they were nice and crispy (and quite different from Great Seas asian wings). We also ordered their special to share which was a sashimi style dish with a white fish. It was good fish and they paired it well with the toppings and sauce. I went with the classic tonkatsu ramen ($13). I thought that the ramen was good and on par with the other spots in Chicago (Oiistar, Furious Spoon, etc) but the portion seemed noticably smaller. When I go to Oiistar I always leave feeling like my gut is going to explode for the same price but here I felt like it was maybe two thirds of the amount Im used to getting. Probably better for my diet but felt like I was getting less for my money. Would definitely like to return and try some of their other ramens especially their spicy one. I also heard their vegan/veggie ramen is top notch even for carnivores/omnivores.

How will I ever get the broth with chopsticks? Oh, do not worry--they give you a spoon. This place is really reasonable, for what you get. Honestly, the noodles are super fresh, and the ingredients are simmered to perfection. I got a starter of Edamame (lightly salted), and an entree of the spicy garlic miso ramen. Both were awesome, I thought the spicy garlic had so many tasty veggies. If you are one to partake in ultra spicy food, do not be deceived by the title of the dish--It is really not that spicy. I highly recommend you telling the waiter or waitress that you like a little spice in your life, and they will direct you as to how to "spice it up." I will totally return to this gem of a noodle place, it is certainly the best in the North Side. Oh, the atmosphere is warm inside, and they even have a sit down counter if you are just ordering for one. They have sushi here, and I hear it is good--I did not get it myself. Best of wishes in your noodle adventures. Oh, the atmosphere is really warm inside, and they even have a sit down counter if youre just ordering for one. Server Ariel Y rocks! Was dinning at Wasabi on 12/19/15 around 1pm. The place was packed, only seating available was at the counter. My boyfriend and I put our order in & while we waited, 3 tables became available. So my boyfriend asked the host if we could have a table, the host said no because we had put in our order at the counter. We didnt understand why 3 tables were available, no guest were waiting to be seated yet still the host refused to allow us to have a table. We decided to ask our waiter if we could be moved to a table & he happily accommodated us. Im so glad Ariel Y was our server because not only did he make sure we were comfortable (which stopped us from walking out the door after the rude host refused our simple request) he also had some delish suggestions for appetizers! We were there for only the Miso Ramen but took his suggestions on 2 apps & 2 desserts! Wasabi, your rude host almost lost you some loyal guest but Ariel Y saved them for you, weve been back 2x since that visit! Ariel Y all I can say is thank you & nice save!!! I hope youre always my server ;-) I wouldve rated my visit a 5 star if it wasnt for the rude host. I wish I could post 5 stars for Ariel Y he rocks!

We visited the new addition, or the new "ramen side" of Wasabi. For clarity, the restaurants location for the past couple years is now the sushi bar, which is still BYO but you cannot get ramen there. The new spot, just one door down from the "sushi side" is where the ramen is served, and this new location has a full bar--no BYO allowed. So there is no more Wasabi ramen with BYO. The new build out is nice. Its a stylish place with wood tables and large windows. Their drink menu is average for the area: a collection of $12 cocktails, a handful each of local and domestic beers, and a smattering of wines. The service was attentive and professional as always at Wasabi. The food is (still) awesome. I had the noodles and dipping soup (or whatever). Though the portion seemed a little smaller than the ramen dishes, the broth flavors were fantastic. The noodles were nicely done, and the pork was meltingly tender. It appears the food prices might have gone down a buck with the addition of a bar.

Went there for my friends birthday. Didnt get my food until everyone was almost done eating (some were done) and only because they were trying to wait until I got my food. We asked multiple times where my food was and it was sushi which shouldve come out way sooner (everyone ordered sushi or ramen). My boyfriend saw the other waiter that was initially helping us roll his eyes at us a couple times. Then instead of comping it off the bill they send out a couple order of mochi, which I cant have because of my dairy allergy. The waitress apologized, which was appreciated, but then had the audacity to say, "you can just watch your friends enjoy it". The waitstaff was rude to us after that and my boyfriend had to go up to the waitress and ask for her to comp my sushi to which she rudely cut him off mid sentence to say shed comp it. I rarely ever write Yelp reviews but this was one for the books. Wasnt my first time there but may just be my last.

Food: 5/5 Price: $$ Ambiance: 4/5 Service: 3/5 My absolute fave ramen place in Chicago! Granted, Im vegan, but Ive had their garlic ramen & the whole fam loves this place. Great date spot too, with ambient lighting, though noisy. Always worth the wait for a table, though the last time we went we (group of 5) were charged a 20% gratuity for mildly bad service (never remembered to refill our hot waters & failed to cancel an item they agreed to cancel). The newly expanded restaurant is basically 2 separate entities with different (expanded) menus & dining rooms. And you cant bring food from one side to consume at the other. So... Its basically 2 restaurants that happen to have the same owner & are next to each other. Boo! Going to start visiting other ramen spots before trying back here.

Overated. I and my friend drove here to try their ramen and sushi, since it was very highly rated, plus recommended by another friend. However, I honestly think I should provide some opposing opinions. 1. We went there on Sat. night, summer, the AC is not cool enough. 2. The air inside is not healthy, we smell smoke, smokes due to the kitchen. 3. the waiter was slow, we sat there for a long time before being taken order. my friend even asked me to leave. 4. Price is a little overpriced, maybe it locates at a richer area. 5. Food is about good, but not as highly rated as what i saw on other reviews. Maybe, as an Asian, we are used to the true delicious food. in conclusion, it may worth a try if you like, it is not bad at all. However, it is overated and overpriced for me.
