As a Realtor I like to point out all the best spot to dine and enjoy spirits in the neighborhoods my clients are looking to purchase. In Ravenswood/Lincoln Square Shanghai Inn is at the top of my list for Asian Cuisine at affordable prices. The food is outstanding and the service is exceptional for a casual dinning spot. Please note that it has some of the best Crab Rangoon (Amazing) & pot stickers (also amazing) I have ever had!!!....and I have tried plenty. Conveniently located right off the Damen/Leland stop on the brown line, its a perfect location to walk off your meal by heading just a few blocks West to the heart of Lincoln Square and catch a flick at The Davis or hit Fountain Head just a few blocks down on Damen/Montrose for drinks.. Dont feel like going out? The delivery is lightning fast and always what you ordered. Take it from your friendly neighborhood Realtor....try the Shanghai Inn!! Great food, great service, great prices, and of course, Location, Location, Location!!

Nothing fancy about the experience here - very laid back, the dining area could probably use a remodeling. They often been sorting files or doing something on one of the tables when weve been there. Just adds to the family charm. The food is quite a few notches above the standard quick neighborhood chinese place. Homemade wonton soup is so good on a cold day. Great lunch special. Generous portions. Can see why it has survived since the 60s.

My mom found this place by accident. At first, she thought it read she dragon. Anyway the food is great! We always order the Mongolian beef , orange chicken, and shrimp fried rice. The service was descent but the people are friendly so it made up for the wait time. Overall, I keep coming back during special occasions like a birthday because I enjoyed the entrees. Very affordable Chinese food and they give you lots unlike most places.

I eaten across two states of Chinese food restaurants... from Racine, WI and continuing south until I hit the Chicago scene. I have been to a minimum of 50 Chinese food places and Shanghai Inn is among the best I have ever had. The service is great, the people are kind, and the owner is swell. My husband brought me to this restaurant 14 years ago. Ever since, this restaurant became my favorite! The food is so good, service is phenomenal! Every dish they make, has a great-great taste. Love the tea as well! I am always recommending this restaurant to family and friends. My kids also love the food! This restaurant is their #1 pick when it comes to eating out...ours too!

My family and I love this restaurant. I know the place since I was a kid.....years ago they were located on Lawrence then they moved to Damen. The food is great, the shrimp fried rice is the best I ever had in Chicago. Their service is also great, waiter is always making sure you have enough water. If you like Chinese food, this is the place to go to!

Real good food. I had the beef broccoli with white rice. Delicious and large portion. Right away I said, ok good I will take left overs. I only ate about 1/3 of my plate. The waitress asked me if I wanted this to go, I said yes. She came back with a real small box. I right away said where is the rest?? Waitress said, this was all! Not cool!

Shanghai rocks big time. Potstickers are the best Ive ever had. Great, great food and very affordable. I go at least once a week. Another big favorite is the Mongolian Chicken. Hello delicious. Wow. Not a fancy restaurant - decor youd expect at a Chinese carry out restaurant - but the food is the best. No, really, I mean it.

My favorite Chinese restaurant. I switched to this place after a friend recommended it. I felt foolish I wasted my time at any other place. Im not saying one dish is better than the others, Im saying everything is better, A to Z. You absolutely cannot go wrong at this place if youre looking for takeout Chinese.

A hidden gem. I grew up going to this place, before the neighborhood was trendy and gentrified. I have now lived in Minneapolis for 9 years, and I still dream about their Yu-Shin Beef w/ jasmine tea. They really havent changed in the 30 years Ive known this place. No need to fix something thats not broken.

Ordered General Taos chicken hot. Was very spicy and flavorful however many of the chicken pieces were tough and some were just breading no meat. Price was kinda high ended up giving my take home to a guy asking for change. Not sure if this was a fluke or common. Throw the dice for yourself.

Ordered delivery, had high expectations based on reviews. Was sadly disappointed. Sesame chicken was all soggy breading with minimal chicken, burnt noodles with chow mien and egg rolls were again all breading. Overall terrible experience. Will not order again

I ordered the red hot beef and it was awesome. The quality of the beef here is excellent. I ordered spicy and had to add a little extra hot sauce. But still I was impressed with taste. Super fast pick up. It was ready before I could walk there.

The reviews are curious. Basically the worst cashew chicken I have had anywhere! If ya like boiled chicken maybe you think this is good....but with so many other places in Chicago.....this is for somebody who doesnt get out much!

Simple. Laid back. Old school. Delish & huge portion of Sesame Chicken. We dont live nearby but found this them online based on the previous reviews. Might take the Brown Line up from downtown the next time we have a craving!

I love this family owned business ! The veggie egg rolls and curry are fantastic . I love the relaxed atmosphere and never ending refills of jasmine tea. Perfect for a hot or cold day! I will keep coming back.
