The food was okay, the service not so good. There were 4 adults and one 20 month old in our group, it was Thursday around 7:30 PM, and only 2 other tables were occupied. When our food was brought out, they brought the biriyani first, set it on the table next to us, and went to help seat another family for over 5 min. Finally they got the food to us, but we had to wait another 10 min for the accompanying raita, gravy and salad. Same for the dessert, he brought out the gulab jamun and 10 min later he came with small bowls and spoons for us to share. Our mango lassi didnt come and when we finally got hold of the waiter and asked him, he said they had no straws. Apparently our drinks were made and just sitting there waiting for someone to go out, buy and bring some straws. He should have let us know, we were like just give us the drinks. When my husband went to paid and was writing out the tip we realized they already added 15% gratuity to our order. When asked the older gentleman serving was us this portion comes to us. I mean I understand that much but the menu clearly states that 15% will be added to party of 6 people or more. We were only 4 adults and one toddler. He didnt want to talk and just walked away. I am surprised no one else has commented on this 15% additions to their bills. It was a bad experience overall, and it did take them 1 hour to bring our food out with only 2 other tables occupied.

This Hyderabad House Family Dining is fantastic. It is the one on the NORTH side of Devon...not the similarly named Hyderabad House Restaurant on the South side. The service was very good. Prompt, polite, helpful... No complaints. The food was fantastic. So rich and flavorful, spicy without taking away from the flavor, and goid portion sizes. We had Veg Qorma and Daal Palak. We also had Veg Biryani and it reminded me of what I would always get when I lived in Hyderabad for a while. Again, very rich flavor. The only trick is that I had to ask specifically for the raita and side gravy. Maybe because I didnt look like someone who knows thats the good stuff?? Be sure to ask for it if you dont get it because it pulls together the dish. This is our favorite place on Devon now - hands down.

I wish I could give 0 star to this restaurant. We ordered paneer butter masala, palak paneer and veg biryani. It was a horrible experience. Palak paneer tasted very stale and paneer butter masala tasted Like tomato soup. I really am not able to believe who can mess with such simple sabzis. They ran out of all other naans but butter naans. Which were to covered with fungus. Basically there is a BIG "NO" "NO" for this restaurant, especially for vegetarians also because there are very few veggie options. Please guys, I understand cooking can be boring and sometimes you crave for restaurant food. But I would suggest never to go here. This is the second worse experience I have had on devon street.

Went for the lunch. Made a simple order for Vegetable Quorma and when asked for suggestion, was told that chicken 65 is their best. When the food order came in, both the dishes were extremely sour, probably due to excessive lemon zest added to the dishes. It was really unpalatable. Initially, we were not sure whether it was the mode of preparation or a mistake on the cooks part, so enquired of the same at checkout. The manager responded by admitting the mistake of adding extra lemon, and nonchalantly dismissed the issue by saying he would ask the chef. But wouldnt offer any compensation. I would suggest staying away from this place.

The setting is not what youd expect from a restaurant in Chicago, and if you are looking for fine dining i suggest you head to India House in the middle of all the madness by grand ave. Hyderabad house looks and feels like a roadside dhaba and thats what it really is. The menu is short and has everything to satisfy a non vegetarian appetite. My favorite: The parathas and mutton curry. Biryani is not the best you could taste in Chicago. Dessert option includes the Hyderabadi favorite: Double ka Meetha. Give it a try if you are scouring for some good old dhaba taste bytes. P.S. They serve sweet pan and thumps up!

Really hated it. They should value peoples time. Went with my infant and ordered some roti and masala. Roti came in half hour. Masala never came. When asked, they were not kind enough to respond. First of all, not all customers will know Hindi. They should speak in English, if we ask something in English. After 2 hours, they gave Masala for naan. It was horrible when they asked to pay money, when requested to cancel the order. Very poor service. Taste is not exciting as well. After all this mess, the servers were requesting for tips. Dont know how would we pay tips. Please value peoples time.

The main problem here they will make the food in the bulk quantity and keeps freezes, when order came they will make hot in Oven, thats why taste will be gone from dishes. and Oven Food has so many disadvantages to our health specially for the people over 40s. So I advise the owner please take some seriously steps to come back into business and keep some smiling faces over the counter. not like proudly people as they are thinking they are feeding us, its only a request.

For all the people.. Who always feel nostalgic about Hyderabad food and restaurants.. Here is your ONE STOP.. If u had a biryani back in India on road side restaurants.. You know how the place would be.. Ull get the same feeling here.. Its not posh or its not clean.. All it matters is Biryani.. They have an excellent biryani.. The other best part is they open late nights on weekends.. Enjoy ur biryani.. Try mutton masala with Paratha.. We loved it..

Took almost 40 mins to get appetizers.. No Green Chutney served with Kababs!!!! Food was great though.... Will recommend carry-out over dining on weekends...also because of parking issues. And poorly staffed on Weekends.. management seems like .Not caring for "Customer Service "... Management needs to hire more staff on weekends or rather caring only if you are more than 5-6 people.. also the downside of this being... Everything works slow here..

I just had to share my experience about this place. The food and the service were VERY VERY bad. The servers had NO clue about any of the food in the menu. The food tastes and looks completely different from what you would get from a good Indian restaurant. I would rather starve than having food there. I think I was unlucky to have ender-up eating in that restaurant after all the options that Devon Avenue offers.

This is the worst restaurant I have been in my life. We took home their food hoping to enjoy the dinner that day after tasting their my taste buds gave upon me due rotten food like taste. When We through the food in trash even skunk and raccoons hate to eat that food. Our $40 down the toilet. I think they should remove hyder from their restaurant name so they can be known as a bad house.

I disliked this place because it was poorly put together, they didnt know what they were doing, they would be yelling in the back table order. They were also dropping glasses everywhere and where the cook would hand the food it looked super tight to get it out of the mini window. I really disliked the food as well like it was bland or too much of spice on one thing. it wasnt balanced.
