I dont usually bother to waste time writing bad reviews, but my experience here really irritated me. I wont rate Lulas Cafe one star because of a single waiter, however Jorge the waiter made my first experience there one that I would rather not remember...or experience again.Hopefully Next time the service will be better. I feel that when I write a review, I may as well explain exactly my experience I recently just moved to logan square, and walking around the neighborhood with a friend one saturday night, we came upon Lulas Cafe, which had been recommended to us before several times. We were seated and presented each with a menu...with the intention of only ordering some coffee and talking before we decided to order food. When we told the waiter that we would only be purchasing coffee and chai, he replied with a dirty look, paused, and contemplated our decision as if he were considering kicking us out and offering the two person table to people who would rather each eat one of the 21 - 24 dollar entrees on the menu....then he said "Alright", snatched the menus out of our hands and walked away. When he brought the coffee and Chai out, he brought the check with him, and continued to stop by our table to see if we had paid or not while my friend and I were trying to continue on with our conversation. Finally, after one routine look at our empty check, he refilled my friends half empty coffee cup with cold coffee. What the hell?! I dont care if I only spent 5 dollars there, I still cant believe how ridiculous that waiter was.

Some of the best breakfast/brunch food that Ive had in a LONG time. I was part of a group of four, and we had about a 45 minute wait on a Saturday around 11am. The wait was longer than predicted, but it was due to a rainstorm threatening the outdoor seating, so I couldnt really hold it against the quoted time. Upon being seated, we were immediately greeted by our server and our drink order was placed. We had already glanced at the regular and special menu while we were waiting, so we all promptly placed our order. Within about 10-15 minutes the food came out, and everything was impressively plated, and delicious. My fiancee and I split two entrees--the breakfast burrito and the trout scramble. The breakfast burrito was safe, but delicious, with the eggs fluffy and delicious. The trout scramble really stood out with the same fluffy eggs and just the right amount of trout to offset the cream cheese and egg base. What really caught my attention was the house potatoes on the side. They were perfectly cooked and had an amazing spice to them. Make sure to get these with whatever entree you pick. The side of bacon wasnt impressive, but it was properly cooked. They also serve up Intelligentsia coffee, which was great to see. Warm and inviting atmosphere and a great staff--I will definitely return.

Even though it was loud and packed inside, Lula deserves the buzz. There was a wait but they got us in quickly. The food is fantastic, the service is seamless and friendly, and they have good coffee. I had the lox bagel ($15 and worth it). A generous serving of smoked salmon, everything bagel, pickled onion, pea sprouts, wonderful cucumber shavings, a few slices of a perfect tomato, and a sprinkling of capers. Plus some dill horseradish cream cheese. The bagel was on the smaller/tougher side--maybe a Montreal style--but it worked. My date had the breakfast burrito. It was really tasty and crammed with filling. The salsa was good too. Though we both felt that the burrito could use some beans, or a veggie, or something. As the pictures show, its almost entirely eggs, with a few large pieces of potato, and then a little cheese and avocado on the outskirts. Its a very satisfying scrambled egg burrito with a lot of potential. Great restaurant with an obvious commitment to quality. Important side note: the pork sausage patties are out of this world.

I get nervous about hyped restaurants. Theyre often set up for failure from the get go. Your hopes are high, your hangry levels are off the charts from the hour wait, and by the time you sit down the breakfast tastes like every other breakfast in town. In all fairness, its not easy to make eggs special. Lula surpassed all overhyped expectations and soared into super breakfast status. When they say they are known for fresh ingredients, they arent kidding. Our summer menu was chalk full of fresh rhubarb. Rhubarb bellini. Rhubarb and strawberry yogurt with chamomile granola. HEAVEN. Their sandwich series pork shoulder and egg breakfast sandwich was out of control. Fresh and flavorful but never overpowering. So satisfying. Ive never felt so passionately about brunch before. Come to Lula. You will not regret it.

Oh, Lula! If only I could afford to eat here every day and if only the line for brunch wasnt so insanely long. Lula is a restaurant for any occasion: brunch before or after farmers market, dinner with parents when in town, great for treating yourself to a nice cocktail afterwork, and good place to double date without worrying about imposing your dietary choices on others. Food is always impeccable. I would mention favorite dishes, but they change all the time so who cares. Farmers dinner on Monday is a must and the Jean Seymour is my fav cocktail of all time. Unlike any other business that shows art, the "exhibitions" at Lula are always awesome, if not at least theyre tasteful. Cute and attentive people work there and I just cant say enough so Ill stop now. Def recommended.

I went to Lula for brunch on a Saturday, it was a 30 minute wait. Inside was a bit cramped since it was so busy so I waited outside. When you are seated you get a reused wine bottle filled with water, so you can serve yourself water, which I thought was clever. The menu has a nice variety of mixed drinks that start at $8.00 and go up from there. I had an espresso which was sour, so I would avoid it next time. The food menu is small, but the choices are that of a Top Chef episode - so the range of flavors and ingredients are excellent. I had their seasonal tostada, which had lots of winter vegetables and was very filling. I included a picture of it. I will be going back again! Totally worth the wait.

Hipsters? Check. Vegetarian & Vegan options? Check. This place is an amazing place to go for breakfast or any meal really. Its never let me down. A Sunday brunch here is spectacular but make sure you get there before or after the rush! Otherwise you might end up waiting a while for a table. The decor is thoughtful and slightly kitschy but remains endearing. If youre in Logan Square, this is a must try place. The atmosphere has always been great, never too noisy, but always welcoming at any time of the day. Grabbing a night cap here may be one of the best ideas Ive ever had and it definitely seems like I am not the only one who has had this idea, judging by the night crowd.
