Yes, the food is great. That being said, I was extremely disappointed by the service on my recent visit. I ordered the breakfast burrito and could only eat half of it. I asked to have it packed up and to have extra salsa included. I was brought my leftovers and the bill. My friend and I gave the waitress cash, and then we were brought another bill. The waitress explained that they had to charge for the extra salsa and sour cream, and I said that that was fine but that I just wanted extra salsa, to which she replied, "Sure." When I saw the final bill after she had taken our money, she had added two 75 cent charges for extra salsa and sour cream. First of all, it is just kinda cheap to charge for little plastic containers of extra condiments (how much can they really cost?!). Second, I did not even want the sour cream. We did not say anything, but my friend and I do not plan to go back. After all, there are so many other great brunch places in Chicago.

This is the 2nd Bongo Room I visit, the first one was the one on Roosevelt. I keep being told to go by several different people because the food is great. I keep getting my hopes up for the "awesome experience" Im suppose to receive get. Twice now they have managed to give me a very poor experience. I arrived and was told I would have a 20 min wait, the place was packed okay, I understand, no worries. I shopped around. Came back and was told our table wasnt ready, but I noticed on their waiting list, several people that came in after me and my friends had been seated. The hostess then told us to wait in the back by the food line. Im not sure why she sent us to the back, but there we were, waiting like chumps. We waited nearly 20 extra minutes to finally be seated. About an hour later we are finally ordering food, and no one offered an apology for the wait or miscommunication. The food was good, but the service was very bad.

The brunch is lots of hype than no quality. A few problems the their products: The freshly squeezed orange juice is a mixture of age old squeezed orange juice and tropicana. How lazy do you have to be that you cant squeeze your own orange juice? The chocolate tower french toast instantly attracts tourist and female attention. However it tastes repulsive after the first slice. The egg Benedict contains one of the poorest quality muffin bread in the market. Other wise it is a generic egg Benedict you can get on a higher quality highway stop. things going for it: the location is conveniently located in a hip neighborhood. The interior decoration is tasteful, which might help with during a date with an unsubstantial woman. The crowd that goes there are young and trendy, which makes you feel good to be part of.

It seems that all you have to do to be a money making machine is open a brunch place in Chicago. Chicagoans are crazy for good brunch places these days. it makes sense, a drinking city needs good hangover cures. Anyway, Bongo Room is one of those outstanding brunch locations. Yes, I have waited for an hour and a half on the weekend, but as others have said, it is well worth it. The food is great, not a big menu, but whats on it is very high quality stuff. If you get there around 9:15 on the weekends youll just have to wait 15 minutes for them to open but you should be able to get a table. By 9:45 there is usually an hour wait. Oh, and for those late starters, if you get there about a hour before close, there is almost always an open table. Again, this is on the weekends.

My nephew ranted and raved about this restaurant so my expectations were much higher than they shouldve been! The greeter was awesome! She was very pleasant and accommodating until we were seated. The waitress was nice but messed up our order! We requested egg whites but received regular eggs. We requested sauce on the side but a ton of sauce was dumped on the meal. She mightve gotten it right had she written down the order! I asked her to reheat my hot chocolate and she refilled it with hot water which watered down the taste tremendously! Thankfully, two meals were removed from our bill. The house potatoes were absolutely delicious and the breakfast burrito was okay. My nephew will still patronize this restaurant but I definitely will NOT be returning.

Ive been wanting to try this place for awhile so I suggested to two friends and we decided to meet for brunch one Sunday. When I got there, there was about a 45 minute wait. I was a little bummed by that, but decided to wait next door at The Wormhole. The hostess offered to come and get us from the Wormhole when we were next for a table. We did get a table, and it was definitely worth the wait! My food was amazing! I ordered an egg scramble with salsa, avocado & chicken. It was soo good. Seasoned well. Big potions. Everyone else like their food too. The only bad part was that my friend tried to order a mimosa and was told she couldnt get a drink until 12pm. I think it was 1130am...

Fantastic, Unique menu. Everything is very well prepared. The coffee is real and strong like Starbucks, the food is always great. I send my friends there from CA, NY, WA, FL, it is the best breakfast anywhere. I have only heard raves, and never a bad word until the review I saw that said "Horrible" this person clearly has no taste, and made me want to correct the record. They are usually very busy on the weekends, so arrive before opening if you want a table right away, and be patient, therre busy. It may also be among the most expensive breakfasts youll have, but it will also be the best. Breakfast is the cheapest meal anyway. Try the Chocolate Tower french toast.

This seems to be the "go to spot" in Wicker Park for brunch on Saturday or Sunday. The line is LONG, but they will get you in with surprising speed. The service was really impressive considering the size of the crowd. The tea selection was AMAZING, but the pancakes were sickeningly sweet. I ate maybe half of my portion and felt like I ate a rock. SO disgusting. (you do, however, have the option of ordering one pancake of each combo... so maybe tapas style with the group would have been better). I will say their omelettes looked delicious. I had a bit of order envy. My recommendation : go for the tea, and if you HAVE to eat order and omelette.

Decent brunch, a few rotating pancake options, full range of eggs, several boozy drinks. Super loud. The food was tasty, but not out of this world or anything. I dont know the brunch scene in the vicinity extremely well, but Im sure there must be a few places that are at least as good. IMO overrated, and the crazy long waits dont seem worth it if its any imposition, e.g., if Ill be waiting in bad weather. But if Im in the area and dont mind the wait, then why not. At the tail end of brunch the wait was only 15 minutes or so. Service was good enough, efficient, but going at the end of brunch we also kinda got the boot pretty quickly.
