Ive been here several times having average experiences each time. We picked this place because one of our group was vegan. This cafe was not my first choice. Good food, but the staff was horrible. Both the waitress and the manager were extremely rude and the manager yelled at me when I asked why my smoothie size was different from the other peoples at my table. When our drinks came, my friends received significantly larger portions than mine, which came in a to-go container. When I confronted the waitress, she told me that they must not have had any clean glasses (very poor excuse in a place like this) and that I should talk to the manager. When the manager came over several minutes later, I asked her the same question and she got very frustrated. After the same explanation the waitress gave me, she proceeded to tell my friends and I that we, if fact, owe the restaurant money because they served my friends the wrong sized glasses. Unbelievable costumer service. I am very disappointed and probably wont be returning unless the rest of the city burns down... again.

The food here is satisfactory and the service was kind of weird. I dont understand why Meli Cafe has such a large amount of hype. Both times I went here with my wife they were out of what she wanted to order. The first time we went the service was exceptionally slow and the second time we had two servers who kept coming right after each other with the same questions. Finally, we had to tell one of them that there were two of them trying to help us. It doesnt seem like this place is managed very well. I cant even remember what I ordered the first time because it was so unmemorable but my chicken chorizo scrambler was very good the second time. Unfortunately, my wife told me if I ever want to go again it will be by myself because of Meli Cafes inability to have what she wants in stock. There are plenty of brunch places in Chicago to choose from so there is really no point in going back again.

I decided to take my girlfriend to try Meli Cafe out for dinner. I was amazed that this place provided an equally amazing food experience for dinner as it did many times for me with their breakfast. I ordered their mixed grill appetizer along with the Ouzo Pasta. Delicious and flavorful!!!!! My Girlfriend got a salad, which looked fresh and crisp. We ended up trying their Loukoumades for dessert. I was surprised how good they are! crispy yet soft. I asked the waitress and she told me they make them fresh when they are ordered. Overall a great experience with a friendly staff and great food! Cant wait to come back. Hopefully one day they can figure out to combine my new favorite dessert along with one of my favorite breakfast items. Loukoumades French Toast. (Im Drooling like Homer Simpson right now)

The Benedict was amazing but crepe was only okay. The most unacceptable part was the service, it was one of the worst I have ever experienced. We ordered coffee, but she didnt provide sugar or cream as requested. We had to ask twice for sugar and she never provided us with a stirring spoon or stick. When our food arrived, she left the food there with no utensils (?!!). We had to ask another sever or provide the utensils. She never checked on our table or see if we need anything. We visited on a slow hour but for some reason, she showed up with the bill without any request after we sat down for only 45 mins. Overall the food was good but the service honestly ruined the entire experience.

We have dined here several times in hopes that our experience will improve. Sadly, it has not and we will not return. The staff is not very friendly. They seem uninterested in you as a customer. The speed is also slow. We ordered fresh juice drinks before we even put in a food order and our food arrived before our drinks. We asked several times and were told that they only had one bartender. While we understand this to be true, the restaurant was not busy at all. My toast was not delivered with my meal, I had to ask for that as well. The food is fresh but extremely overpriced. On another visit, they got my sons order completely wrong.

The food was good - very fresh and great portions. However, I will never come back here. The service was absolutely horrible. Maybe its because of the modern vibe, but our waitress and even the bus boys acted like they werent allowed to speak to us. We ordered waters and coffee, and my water glass was empty the entire meal. I had to stop another waitress and request more water, and after that it was never refilled. Our coffee was empty as well. At the end of the meal, we were promptly brought our check and never asked if our food was ok or if we wanted more. It was just absurd to me as someone who has worked in the food industry.

Meli cafe is connected to the hotel we stayed at in Chicago. This made it convient to have breakfast there in the morning . We found the food to be just ok but the service wasnt great. My husband ordered pancakes on saturday and they didnt give him enough syrup for the 3 pancakes and when he asked for more syrup they said there would be and extra charge. The next morning we both ordered the pancakes with the extra syrup and brought it back to our room on the 10th floor before we relized we had no utensils to eat or breakfast with. We went back to meli to get untensils. Overall service was not great and food was just ok.

Service at the bar: Hollow and generally unconcerned, didnt check to see if I was enjoying my very uninteresting meal, almost like she knew it wasnt very good. Fresh juice blend: Pretty good, but its hard to mess something like that up. Meal: I ordered the featured crepe, kale and mushroom with goat cheese and scrambled eggs. Uninspired and bland. A pretty gross hollandaise sauce with too much cayenne. I dont care if the presentation is boring, but if the food is also sad, its a shame. Go somewhere else.

Overhyped. Food was not as fresh as expected. I noticed black bannas were used in prep of juices and orange juice had a strong pesticide taste. Juice ordered mentioned mango but tasted no mango overly saturated with honey. Maple syrup was not pure maple syrup. I would expect this to be better for the price being paid at 15 for eggs and 5-8 for juice Highly do not recommend. Only good was coffee and French toast

Everything is literally fresh and consistent. I have been eating at meli for over 5 years and have never been disappointed. The service (except for the Halsted location) is impeccable and the ambiance is exceptional. I am and will always be a loyal Meli customer and bring all of my friends and family here to the Dearborn location because I want them to experience this lovely experience!

We had the mixed seafood grill for the appetizer and it was cooked to perfection with everything very tender and spiced well. The skirt steak was grilled to the exact Med-rare which is very hard to do. The chicken aginarato was very tender and flavourful. The manager came to every table insuring everything was perfect. We will make this restaurant a regular stop while in Chicago.
